Master Of None-Chapter 2847. The Rules
The very fact that a bloodline could overweight any version of teaching or familial growth for a person was somewhat horrifying. Yet, the dragon's bloodline had innate memories associated with it. How to naturally fly without needing much guidance. For the earth dragons, it was even enough to learn their language and utilize their naturally defensive usage of earth amna.
Bloodlines clearly held a lot more than what was ever thought to be the case. Especially since there was an entire race who had made it the core of their bloodline to lie, steal, and destroy. While they were not unintelligent and could most likely be reasoned with to benefit themselves and somewhat others, they were a clear and very outright risk.
"You are fiends. Descended from demons and high elves. You would be, specifically, be called high fiends as your race. You don't need to be taught to do anything as you are always learning it from your bloodline. You influenced your bodies to look more like the elves than demons so that you could make a bond."
Walker looked more closely at the appraisal and picked out one of the skills he saw. "You have a skill called whispers of a liar which allows you to learn and grasp small details about history and other races so you can better target them and get what you wish. You want to live within the world and grow since you believe it to be an open place for the taking without any other power able to stop your form multiplying."
"I have to let you know, you are very wrong. I am one of the protectors of the world and If I so desire I could sever a bridge to the elemental planes from ever allowing you or others in to the world. So be very careful with how you act. You have already lied to leaders of my alliance and that does not bode well with you being able to trade a single thing with us. Let alone being able to be a closely watched member of this alliance."
Walker did not hold back and let the pressure of his mana weigh on them. He saw their attempts to alter their bodies and resist but they all shifted more toward their natural forms. Yes their ears were still long but their bodies seemed even skinnier than before. Their skin was still gray but their sharp features became even more so pointed. Their eyes were also similar to a lizard with slitted pupils watching him now. Their tails also were longer with sharp points at the ends.
"Now that you look more like yourselves, why don't you introduce yourselves more honestly. That way you can actually attempt to build a bond here instead of make Genesis, and the entire world, your enemies. I know full well that the elemental planes do not associate with you and even the true sages do not bother with your race for the things you have done. You have yet to harm Genesis, and I will keep it that way."
Walker showed an unnerving smile. While the high fiends understood they could talk their way around the average person of any race, they understood that Walker was well beyond something they could mess with. They felt it in their deepest of instincts. They were not dealing with a leader of a race or alliance. They were messing with someone who could use mana to unmake them in the most brutal of terms.
Not that Walker would do something brutal and vicious like that. He had no reason. He would just send them back to their isolation. However, he also felt that he could give them a chance. One with a very strong collar to allow them to learn over generations and potentially change the overwritten bloodline they relied on for everything.
It was quite interesting thinking about how reliance on bloodline could allow for the engraved emotions, desires, and aspects of that bloodline to consume someone. Potentially, if he began studying this more and more, he might discover something even greater. Maybe how the bloodline was part of the soul or how it related to more than just the soul itself.
Regardless, the five high fiends stopped and looked at Alma and Gil, who were the next strongest. "It appears that we have been shown to you in a different light. We are still related to you. Of the high elves."
"And also of the demons. Your race is of its own standing now though. So announce yourselves as other races do, or we will not accept an audience with you." The roots and vines on the ground flexed showing that Alma was ready to use her power. She was in fact the next queen and acting leader of the elves here and even beyond Genesis. She just didn't control every detail just yet. But that would come with her growth as a proper leader.
"We are the high fiend race. We live on the border to the dark and light elemental planes and we have affinities that can be called shadow. We are looking for a place to live. A safe home where we can properly grow." The truth was there but it was also not sharing the full truth of their actions and how they had been put in the position of not being welcomed by other races.
'Walker has shared with us the appraisal of what and who you are. We are not welcoming you to live within the world or Genesis. We will begin trade with you if you can bring herbs, materials from monsters, and viable crafted goods. Everything will be appraised to the highest tier we have to ensure quality before we trade or sell to you. That is the opportunity I am willing to give you."
"Sale of weapons will not be done until you have proven some trust." With Gil supporting Alma, it was all too clear who had the power here. Even worse, the high fiends didn't show a single fluctuation of emotion. Not that Walker couldn't tell they were unhappy. They all believed themselves as better and more than those around them. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Even the slight glances toward him told him that they were looking down on him. Chalking up his show of strength as something temporary. It was amusing for Walker since he knew that it was their innate bloodline teachings that made them this way. He would certainly see them try something foolish and suffer the consequences.
"I will also provide guards for when you make these trades. They will watch carefully for the safety of everyone. Some items from the world are dangerous to you and I would hate for anything to occur that would cause everyone harm. This was also Walker's way of saying that if they brought something harmful they would face consequences.
They all suddenly felt the shift in mana as Walker weakened the control he possessed. The light and dark mana fading from the dome was enough that the high fiends retreated carefully back in to the bridge before turning to leave.
"I will prepare another meeting for us. You will be notified. We will have goods to trade." Walker was glad to see that Alma and Gil were so well adapted to the situation. It was also very clear that Gil already waved to some attendants to bring a few food items with the light and dark affinities through the bridge. It seemed that they understood that they could build a relationship but it would have to have very strict lines.
The slightest fluctuation in light and dark mana told Walker that the true dark sage and the true light sage had an eye on him. Maybe this was a test of sorts because they didn't want to deal with these annoying high fiends. Whatever was the case, it was handled with clear strength and fortitude of mind.
Plus, those that moved in after them to make some small food trade would be enhanced to resist any skills that could cause them to be taken advantage of. Liers could lie all they wanted, but if someone was well prepared, then they would be wasting the breath it took to speak those lies.
"That dome skill was a lot like the dragon domain skills. You learned that from those runes and the idea to make an isolated dome for floating islands right? It's neat." Gil was slapping Walker on the back since he knew that Walker had learned a lot.
"I also accidentally used true mana. I sort of know what it is now. But I also think I need to meditate for a month to even understand the full effects of what I did. I still have a headache." Gil raised an eyebrow at hearing this before Alma came over to speak with Walker and go over some future plans. They needed to get it all ironed out now rather than later.
