Master Of None-Chapter 2846. True Mana Appraisal
Gil and Walker reached Genesis using the teleportation formation only to find that there was a lot of hustle and bustle. Apparently someone had figured out how to utilize the communication crystals better and was currently selling the smaller size ones. It meant that moe could be made and more could be sold. So the somewhat less affordable item had become much cheaper.
So, the pair were thrown in to a booming market on their way to one of the bridges to the elemental planes where they would meet and check the elven descendants or ancient elves or whatever they really were.
However, Walker did feel like it was an odd bad luck that the same bridge seemed to attract every race that lived in the plane it temporarily was within. While the outside was a cross between Ignus's territory and Terron's territory making the fire and earth mana more prevalent, even the water elemental planes had been connected to this bridge.
The fact that the elemental planes moved in a natural form was too odd to track. Even the researchers who were beginning to specialize in it were always stumped. Not that this would remain a problem for all too long. The ways that people were going down specialized class paths it was just a matter of time.
That wasn't the focus of what they had to do though. Right now, Walker found that Alma and several of the elder elves of different affinities were sitting at a table where they had been deliberating for some time.
It was almost more interesting to see how the table had been grown using the nearby bushes and then enhanced to become a usable shape with chairs. Some of the mages focusing on growth similar to the ways that farmers grew things had truly been creating art instead of anything related to farming or battle.
When Gil and Walker were spotted, Alma stood up and glanced at Gil before focusing on what Walker might needs to know.
"I know Gil should have told you what we are dealing with. They have been even pushier today than the past few days. They want to be able to have the same rights and ability to travel within Genesis as the others they have heard about. The issue is, we still have no idea who they heard these things from. Or how they know of the elven race within Genesis." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"We assumed it was from the other similar races across elemental planes, but we have yet to have proof that there are races in contact with these, shadow elves." Alma tentatively gave the race a name before she also made a gesture that showed no one had any idea of where this race had gotten information or anything else.
"It sounds like they either have a source that is feeding information to them, or something else unusual is happening. They are a different race so they could have something to do with unique skills or magic. I should be able to make this entire area full of light and dark mana. It will be uncomfortable but we can get better looks at them and communicate. But I don't want to do anything more than a small area until i have appraisals on them or something more concrete."
While other races had been recommended by powerful races within the elemental planes or directly recommended by the true sages, these were not a people recommended by anyone. They found the bridge themsleves and tried to come. It was almost innocent until information was discovered that they would not normally have. Too many red flags telling everyone that this was wrong.
Yet, if they ignored these people trying to make an alliance with Genesis and there was no real reason for the act of ignoring them, well, then that could go poorly for the future of travel between the world and the elemental planes. It would be troublesome if negative rumors about discrimination and ostracizing races came to be. Especially if the true sages themselves spoke of an incident. It would deter many races and intelligent individuals living within the elemental planes.
With a single step forward and a clear channel of mana using the eternal codex in the form of a staff, a dome of dark and light mana swirled around the bridge entrance and the table set up. The elves seemed uncomfortable at the drastic change and control of mana around them, but the bridge fluctuated as a group of five tall figures stepped outside of it.
They had been waiting, so closely that they had been ready to step forward immediately.
Walker looked at their long legs and thin arms. They had very thin tails and gray skin making them almost seem alien and ill. But the long pointed ears were definitely different from the elves. Their faces were also more pointed and had sharper features while their eyes seemed to be darting around to take in everything they could see.
'The appraisal has been blocked'
'The appraisal has been blocked.'
With a small grunt Walker used natural mana to enhance his usage of the all around appraisal skill. This fine tuned control still brought the repeated notification though.
That was until he pulled at all the manas he could and realized that he was using more than just that. He was using some space mana too. No, he was also using some time mana in it. Whatever oddity that allowed the flow of manas from his body to enhance the skill, Walker could investigate later.
He was well aware that he could influence manas more deeply and he had to do some self meditation to understand it all. Especially when he felt he was using true mana, something he knew was not as normal as using natural mana by any means.
'All around appraisal has been enhanced due to natural innate affinity. Origin appraisal has been used. Significant information has been gained.'
'High Fiend- male, elder
This is a member of the fiend race, a race lest to the world after separating from the high elves and the demons when they managed to live together due to ancient monsters destroying nearby villages. They fled to the elemental planes and have lived within them mixing their blood and taking on some of the more negative aspects of their extremely distant ancestors.
They are known as a species with dark and light affinity but that is mostly the internal mana affinity used to influence their own bodies. This is what makes them a predator for their territory within the elemental planes and why many monsters and other races avoid them.
They are also extremely vicious towards those they view as less than themselves. They believe at the core of their being and have inscribed it in to their bloodline that they are greater than any other species to gain intelligence or otherwise. Therefore, they are known for killing off entire groups of monsters even if they do not need the food.
They utilize light mana to manipulate the form of their bodies to make their nails longer and tougher, they can sharpen their teeth, enhance their eyesight, and even make their skin tougher. They then use the dark mana to blend in to the shadows, ambush prey, and also to lightly poison their opponents.
They are known to those who they have spoken to as the greatest of liars. They have somehow managed to increase their speech proficiency while in isolation of their territory to better lie. They can often be found in temporary trading areas talking merchants and travelers in to horrid deals that often only benefit the fiends. Because of this, they have caused a great number of deaths and it is best to assume everything they say is a lie.
They are a race that even the highest powers within the elemental planes written due to the fact that they are not allowed to grow beyond a certain limit after constant issues. However, they are valuable for certain problems that involve specialized killers.
They often pretend to be demons or elves of different species to sneak in to other elemental appliances to fight, steal, and lie. They find it entertaining since they can live for up to three hundred years old.
They are extremely weak to external magic when they are not enhancing their bodies. Otherwise, they are weak to physical damage even when enhanced using their manas. However, due them enhancing their bodies…'
The sheer amount of information was like a bomb going off in Walker's mind. He even saw the average height, weight, diets, and so much more about the fiend race. He also greatly understood that if these people stayed in the world they would do whatever they could to eat, kill, and take whatever they wanted. They had inscribed in to their very bloodline the lessons to become cruel.
Even a child raised by saints of their race would grow up to be scum. It wasn't the same as the demi-humans or dragons. This was more akin to a curse made by their own people to ensure they were always better in their own eyes. A people who lived and breathed to cause strife and take from others.
