Chapter 294: I’m Proud Of You, Brother

[RANIA]

"You two are mates?" Dalrae voiced, wondering what could ensue at the moment. However, she couldn’t deny the fact that she was happy for both of them. She couldn’t deny that this man was probably the best thing that could ever happen to Kim Rania.

In all her pain, Rania had remained a victor; but with Kaisei as her mate and entire for life, maybe a lot would change right? Hopefully, it would be for the better because frankly, Lim Dalrae couldn’t take it if someone else hurt Rania.

She just couldn’t even think of what she would do, because she really did know what she was capable of that ever occurred to her sister.

The universe may have been a bitch, but Lim Dalrae was hoping that this was one of the times that the fates didn’t fuck up when it came to Rania, again.

"Congratulations Rani... and Kaisei, if you hurt my sister, goddess help your soul, I will fight you with all that I have and don’t have. I don’t care if I have to lay my life for her, but I will, if you break my sister’s heart," Dalrae warned, as she glared at Kaisei.

She had a feeling that Kaia wouldn’t hurt Rania, but that was a chance she wasn’t going to take just because they were feeling giddy about the uncertain new bond. This was more than they had expected and Kaia was still trying to wrap his head around it.

Rania was his mate.

Kim Rania was his beloved.

What the hell was he even supposed to do?

Normal mated would have been possessive of their mates, and beloved. They would have been ready to go to war for their beloved, but Kaia was standing like a potato, waiting for the universe to send him a signal on what to do.

Oh, but he was hopeless in this sector and Chang Wook could tell that too. But perhaps his naivety was for the better, because the night had really been long and they needed to get some rest which was not possible if Kaia had decided to make a fuss.

But Kia didn’t, and it was surprising that he even let Raqeeb go without a second thought.

"Let’s go get some rest, everyone. We will deal with everything else tomorrow," Han said, seeing as he needed to help his brother process the new reality. But even he knew that it would take a lot of time before Kaia came to understand what mate bonds were.

It would have been easy if Han had a mate that his brother could elan form, or even if anyone in their friend group had a normal mate bond, but that wasn’t the case for them. They all had dysfunctional relationships before this.

"Yeah, I should get going too," Kaia said, making sure to run, leaving everyone flabbergasted at his reaction.

So they turned to Han, as if the Seto twin knew anything, but Han just shrugged like he was telling them that this was just a normal evening of Kaisei Chihiro just being himself.

Defeatedly, everyone dispersed.

The morning that followed was quite eventful.

Unlike the chaos that had been witnessed in the night, everything seems to have changed. It was like everything was bigger, and better than had been thought possible.

The ceremonial stage that had been destroyed from the blast Rania had created, was back in its position and if anything, it looked way better than they had left it when they had gone to bed the previous night.

The whole of Incayon seemed to be bustling with life as they prepared themselves for the biggest ceremony of all time.

They all knew by now that Kim Rania was mated to Kaisei Chihiro and while that scared the hell out of them, they hoped that it meant something good for Rania. Kaia was stronger and better than many of the men in the kingdom and he was easily the perfect fit.

The Incayon wolves took joy in the possibility that Rania would never attack her home, or want them dead anymore. They hoped that today would be a new beginning for the girl they had ostracized and forced to live a different life.

Sure, she had killed her mother, but that seemed to be yesterday’s news for the people of Incayon. They would celebrate the day and they would make it the most memorable day for her life. Hopefully, the day would be the best of her life and her memories.

No one had seen Alpha Kim since his mate had been brutally murdered by his daughter and they were worried that he had gone insane, as that was the one thing that happened to all wolves who lost their mates unfairly.

Many assumed that the alpha would come back and try attacking his own daughter, which to some extent was acceptable given Rania’s level of ruthlessness the previous night, but they hoped that today wouldn’t be that day.

They hoped that just this once, the young woman would get to live a normal life like young women her age.

She needed to interact with people and understand what love was like. She had a right to live and love, not to mention to be loved by the people she had fought so hard for.

The rogues had also joined in the preparation for the ceremony and Kaia and Hna had crafted them some good clothes for the ceremony. All in all this felt like a grand party, and it probably was, right?

"Are you okay?" Han asked his brother who had gone back to the guest room. He had woken up earlier and made everything as perfect as every birthday girl would have dreamed of, and then he went and locked himself up.

It was like he was hiding away and honestly, that was scary.

Everyone knew Kaisei as someone who never hid from anything or anyone, and yet here he was, hiding away like a coward. But was that who he really was? Was that what he wanted to be remembered as?

"It doesn’t matter," Kaia said as he looked at his brother, the smile on Han’s face making him feel like perhaps the world was worth saving after all.

"Your humanity is back. You did a good job holding back yesterday. I don’t know if it will make any difference but I’m proud of you, big brother," Han said and his brother just looked at him fondly, and it was heartwarming, really.

This was what he had thought their family would be like over the years and he wished that someday they would be okay, just two brothers walking the long roads.

"You always did know me well, Haru," Kaia said with a laugh, one that was genuine this time and Han felt his heart swell.

"I’m just scared I might hurt her. I don’t know anything about love or companionship. All my life I have been alone. What if I screw up?" Kaia assed and his brother gently apt his back.

"You have always loved me, and that is proof that you know a thing or two about caring. The both of you fit so well, so don’t worry too much. Besides, you won’t have to go through this alone.

"Just like you always had my back, I will have your back on this one. Come along, let’s see the product of what you have made possible, hmm?" Han said as he grabbed his brother’s hand and forced him out of the guest room.
