Chapter 329: The Cruel Consequences

[RANIA]

"The fifth person," Luna Park said and the other leaders nodded as if to tell Odelia that that was their choice, even though it was more than obvious that they didn’t know what to think. But then they had to say something in the thirty seconds they had been given, right?

"Wrong answer," Odelia said and the leader knew they were in for a long morning.

There was chaos around them but that couldn’t match the turmoil in their hearts and minds as they remembered Odelia’s condition to them. They were supposed to make the right choices because otherwise, they would have to face some dire consequences.

"How would you know that?" Luna Park asked and the leaders let out defeated sighs. The woman was challenging someone who had nothing to lose and that was a terrible idea.

However, Luna Park asking that particular question was also giving them a chance to know who it was and a chance to increase their odds at success. But would they really understand that instead of cursing her for trying to botch their chances at survival?

There was so much that they needed to see through and as they sat there waiting for their punishment for the wrong answer, the leaders knew that this would be a long day.

"Maybe because she was the one who lined them up for this very purpose?" Paloma asked boredly.

She had never thought that the Luna could be that dense, and whatever angle Luna Park was trying to get it was pointless because they wouldn’t be getting any of those answers anytime soon.

They had to wait for the legendary result, but even that would take them a while to get to regardless.

"Leave her, Paloma. She is trying to buy them some time, thinking that the punishment wouldn’t have started already," Odelia said with a smirk on her face and the leaders looked at her like they were trying to tell her that it wasn’t that obvious, but was that really it?

Was that what they were all aiming at right now?

"Uncover the fifth prisoner," Odelia said and the warriors who were with them within that circle just nodded before one of them stepped forward and went on to show the revolution leaders the fifth prisoner.

"Oh, goddess," was the first thing Luna Park said as she looked at the person in front of them. He looked a little like Daehyun and they could have assumed that he was someone different if they hadn’t looked closer.

Lee Daehyun was a mess.

His face was swollen from the beatings he had received while anywhere brogan fourth to the odium to be arranged like people that were ready for the death sentence.

He looked like the world was just another hell for him and he was willing to pay whatever price there was for his freedom or rather for his soul to let go.

When Odelia had said to uncover the prisoner, she had meant everything. So they watched as the warrior removed the patches of stone that had been filled in the clothing of the prisoners of war, though for this time, they only removed Daehyun’s.

He had scratches all over him and none of his wounds were whaling. His hair was roughly shaven like it was a reminder that they were not to be accorded any special favors here.

"Shitt," Daehyun sighed when the sunlight hit his face.

He couldn’t remember the last time he had been out in the sun but he couldn’t deny that being in the sun felt good. He could feel his swollen hands that were bound behind his back, not to mention the noose on his neck that tightened with each movement he made.

It was crazy, but this was the fate he had to deal with.

He didn’t have a choice, and he didn’t have a way to fight back.

Staring at the people before him, Daehyun could recognize every single one of them.

He knew them by name and wondered what they were all doing here. However, as his eyes came to terms with the sound of the falling warriors, Daehyun felt like he had been stabbed in the heart.

The Calindra beta knew that this wasn’t the best time for all of these people to be here, and a part of him wished that they had come for them. Seeing Luna Park reminded him that he had failed to protect the Luna and now he was a failure in even protecting the alpha. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

It was not what he had expected but then it wasn’t like he could have known that his brother was crazy enough to tell the midnight moon to forfeit their bond. It wasn’t expected and it was something they would have to think of at a later time.

"What are you doing here?" Daehyun asked once all the stones were released from him. He felt like a wrought had been lifted from his back, but he could also see that there was more they could have done. Perhaps they could have been smarter and dealt with the situation a little differently. But then wasn’t it a little too late for them to be thinking of that?

"We came for you," Luna Park said as she looked at the beta who was like a son to her. She knows that Daehyun would have done anything possible to save her son and that this was just a stronger opponent.

She knew that they could negotiate with Rania, or perhaps have a trade-in. But what did they have that Kim Ranai didn’t?

What was so important to Rania that they had?

"You guys shouldn’t be here. They’ll kill you all just to teach us a lesson," Daehyun said and a warrior punched him in the abdomen, making him feel like he couldn’t breathe for a moment there.

He was telling them the truth, which they all knew, judging from Han Seong’s outburst earlier. Daehyun was certain that there wasn’t a thing that they could do about this, but maybe, just maybe Rania wasn’t going to be that cruel to them, no?

"That’s alright," Luna Park responded and Odelia let out a frustrated groan. She didn’t like what she was hearing, because this wasn’t how they were supposed to come forward, but then that also gave her the chance to mess with them a little longer.

They shouldn’t have come here, that much was obvious because now they were helpless prisoners who had no idea just how many people they had lost; though judging by the amount of fires that were lighting up the compound, the vampires were flailing in the worst of ways.

"You people are no fun,’’ Odelia said as she begrudgingly turned to the leaders who were owed some suffering.

Without even thinking twice, Odelia handed the bag of dark objects to Chang Wook who didn’t hesitate to cast a slicing spell on the leaders, using one of the cruelest of the dark objects; the one instrument that could cause a thousand cuts over and over and would never let anyone heal.

"Now this is what I like to call fun," OIdelia said as the leaders started screaming their lungs out.

"We’ll be back, sit tight alright," Odelia said when the misfits suddenly left to go join the warrior on the battlefield where the Serto brothers were.
