Chapter 414: The Greatest Act

OOPS.

Winter made a blunder.

He had just woken up after talking to the goddess who gave him a very difficult job.

Then the first thing he saw upon opening his eyes was Auro Moonchester.

The man I need to kill.

"Brother, that child looks like he wants to kill me," Auro Moonchester said, raising his hand as if he wanted to grab Winter by the neck. "I suppose it should be fine to defend myself."

"Your Majesty—"

"I-I can’t see, my lord," Winter said, his breath a little ragged. To be fair, he wasn’t really acting. He "couldn’t" see properly because his vision turned red due to anger after seeing Auro Moonchester in the flesh. "I’m sorry. I had a bad dream. W-Was I acting rude?"

Auro Moonchester’s hand froze mid-air.

On the other hand, Kalel— his father— swatted away the emperor’s hand as if Auro Moonchester was just an ordinary person.

"You had a bad dream? No wonder you looked spooked as soon as you opened your eyes," Kalel said, kneeling down next to Winter. Then he wiped the bullets of sweat on Winter’s forehead with his hand. "Close your eyes for a moment."

Winter was confused, but he did close his eyes.

Oh.

Now that Auro Moonchester was out of his sight, he finally calmed down.

That man really ruins my mood.

"Child, when you say you had a dream, what exactly do you mean by that?" Kalel asked carefully while covering Winter’s closed eyes with his hand. "Was it an ordinary dream? Or did you have another vision?"

Oh, right.

Winter almost forgot that he lied about seeing visions.

Dad probably thinks I’ve seen something horrible.

Ah, he could use that as an excuse.

"I-I’m not sure if it was just a bad dream or a vision. I get confused sometimes," Winter said, still acting confused and scared. Thank goodness his mother taught him how to act. "In the bad dream I had, I saw big monsters attacking the palace."

Yeah, he specifically mentioned the palace for one reason.

I want the emperor gone here.

"You saw monsters attacking the palace?" Auro Moonchester asked, and it was clear that he didn’t believe Winter. "Are you talking about my palace? Have you even seen the palace, child?"

Tsk.

Winter didn’t really want to use polite speech to Auro Moonchester, but he had no choice but to show him some respect.

Let’s just pretend I’m talking to a wall.

"I’m not sure, Your Majesty. I just heard the people talking in my dream," Winter lied with a straight face. "I heard them yelling, ’protect our moon." Then the monsters ate them..." He trailed off, and then he covered his face with his hands. "I’m sorry, but I feel like throwing up..."

"Let’s get you to the bathroom then," Kalel said, and then he carried Winter in his arms. "Your Majesty, please excuse us."

"Are you really leaving me to attend to that child, Brother?" Auro Moonchester asked, obviously disappointed. "Why don’t you just ask your servants to take care of that child?"

"I’m sorry, Your Majesty. But this child requires special attention because of his ability."

Heh.

Winter was happy with his father’s answer.

He buried his face against Kalel’s chest because he didn’t want to see Auro Moonchester.

And he felt safe in that position.

At least, I won’t see Auro Moonchester even if I accidentally open my eyes.

"Brother, do you really believe that child has the ability that he claims to have?"

Okay, that made Winter flinch.

Of course, he won’t believe me easily.

"It doesn’t hurt to have a little faith in what this child says, Your Majesty," Kalel said while gently patting Winter’s back. "Hence, why don’t you return to your palace and see if this child’s vision will come true or not?"

Uh-oh.

"You’re right, Brother," Auro Moonchester said. "If the child’s vision comes true, I shall reward him. But otherwise..."

Oh, no.

Winter gulped hard silently.

If there’s a god listening to me out there, please send monsters to attack the palace...

***

WINTER forced himself to throw up, but nothing came out.

So, he just pretended to still be feeling weak.

That was how he ended up in bed again.

Thankfully, this time, Auro Moonchester was already gone.

I’m worried about what he’ll do if my "vision" fails, but that’s for the tomorrow me should worry about.

"Child, do you not like the king?"

Oh, right.

Winter almost forgot that Auro Moonchester, at this time, was still a king and not an emperor yet.

But I think it will change soon.

If he remembered correctly, his father would help Auro Moonchester become an emperor.

"Child, did you not hear me?"

"I heard you, my lord," Winter said politely. "Will I get killed if I say something bad about the king?"

"No, you won’t get killed for that," Kalel said while shaking his head. "So, speak comfortably."

"I’m not comfortable with the king, my lord."

"Why not?"

"I just don’t think the king is a good person."

"Oh."

"My lord, can I give you a warning?"

"Go ahead."

Aigoo.

I’m happy that Dad is listening to me, but he’ll be scammed at this rate.

"Please don’t trust the king too much," Winter said carefully in a low voice. "I don’t care if I get beheaded for saying this, but I believe the king will bring you harm in the future, my lord."

He was ready to be kicked out.

Honestly, he was thinking about how to apologize this time.

Thankfully, he didn’t have to do that.

"I know," Kalel said calmly. "Thank you for the warning, child."

Oh?

Winter realized that his father was acting strange.

***

HEH.

Winter felt proud after he successfully cleaned the backyard with a broomstick.

He wasn’t used to chores, but he had fun doing them.

When else could I act like a servant again?

"Winter, just who are you?"

Huh?

Winter knitted his eyebrows because of Julian’s silly question. "Young Master, what do you mean by that?"

"It’s not like I didn’t believe in your ability, but this is still a surprise."

"Young Master, I really don’t understand what you’re saying." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"The vision that you saw recently had come true," Julian said, his voice full of wonder and admiration. "Now, His Majesty is inviting you to the palace."

What?

His fake vision had come true?!

To say that Winter was surprised would be an understatement.

Did I gain a new power in this timeline?!
