A month passed since Damien returned to the southern frontier, and Block 7 withdrew to the looming tower of New Janus. Since then, the New World had been burdened by the shockwaves of the Clan's collapse.

News about the vampire exiling themselves further south prompted the deep exploration of the New World's lower half. It was an opportunity, after all.

A new land waiting to be conquered by humanity.

But as the Federation pushed the southern frontier deep into the northern territories. Another dumbfounding piece of information struck them.

The enslaved humans of the Clan, who were left behind during the mass exodus, established their own enclave. Since the creation of their nation, they had captured several fortress cities.

Armed with the technology of the Clan, the Enclave of Oberon became a major power capable of rivalling the Federation in terms of military strength.

Despite the talks for unification, the enclave has vehemently resisted any diplomatic discussions with the Federation. They wanted to be left alone and grow at their own pace.

After all, despite having a vast military power, they lacked the population to support a total war against the Federation.

Obviously, the higher echelons of the Federation were furious about the intention of independence from the enclave. They wanted to invade the newly established country.

But they needed the support of the SIGIL.

Unfortunately for the Federal Government, the SIGIL wasn't a weapon to be wielded against normal humans. The organization was established to address threats beyond the scope of human control.

Utilizing them as a battering ram to conquer another country was not possible. As such, the Federation had no choice but to avoid contact with the enclave entirely.

On the other hand, when Damien heard of the newly established country. He was astounded, to say the least. Enclave of Oberon? What the hell did his monsters do that led to the establishment of a country?

It was then that he recalled the emergence of the cultists during the battle of the capital. If those people survived that ordeal. There was no doubt that they would create a nation of their own.

Damien could only sigh, not wanting to bother himself. Since returning to New Janus, Block 7 had been concentrated on trying to find a way to break the seal of the Tesseract.

Even though he could do so with Nexus, it was better not to rely on specialties like his monster. It was better for his companions develop the capabilities to resist ancient artifacts.

At any rate, Damien ignored the rabble between the Federation and the Enclave of Oberon. It wasn't his problem. Besides, from the looks of it, neither could dominate the other.

The latter seemed to love independence and be ignored by the Federal Government. The former wants to acquire everything the Enclave of Oberon had.

"New Janus is prospering..."

It has been a while since they returned to the looming tower. The city had grown, expanding outward. Industries emerged while the pillars of New Janus started to form.

Damien stood in the office of the Seventh Paragon, watching Francine deal with the bureaucracy and paperwork that had been left behind for a couple of months.

Hecate lounged on a nearby couch, taking a short nap. Echidna and Hawk were spending their time outside the looming tower, as it had been a while since their last vacation.

The only one working was none other than Francine, who had made the city of New Janus her responsibility.

There wasn't much Damien could do other than support her; the paperwork that had been crammed into the office for several months needed to be taken care of.

"So, anything new about the ancient artifact?" Damien asked, tilting his head with a smile plastered on his face. It has been a while since Francine and the Fifth Paragon started investigating its intricacies.

He was curious whether they had found a way.

"Aside from a few discoveries that would further our theories about dimensions, there wasn't anything we could do about it."

"The seal is extremely strong and cannot be tampered with. It appears to be made from the same material as the black towers."

"From the looks of it, the Clan might not have made the Tesseract. They properly uncovered it in some random ruin in their former world and learned of its secrets."

Hearing her words, Damien nodded in understanding while also inwardly marveling at the capabilities of his seniors. Though it seems that he had overestimated their capabilities.

Even he wasn't capable of unravelling the seal without relying on his monsters. If not for Nexus assimilating with the progenitor and the old bastard's complete memories, who knows what would have happened?

"I see... Thank you for working hard." Damien remarked, prompting Francine to raise her eyebrows. "You don't appear to be bothered? Did you find a way to get her out?"

"I did find a way, but whether it is effective remains to be seen. I might need some time." Naturally, he didn't want to solve the problem immediately and gain the attraction of others.

"Oh, okay... I'll leave the artifact in your hands." Francine didn't doubt the capabilities of her junior. She knew more about what he was capable of.

"Regardless, however. Did you hear about that newly-established country in the lower half of the New World? The Enclave of Oberon?" She asked while signing her paperwork.

"The name sounds familiar. Oberon, I mean... I feel like I have heard of it before. I don't know when or where, but it rings some bells." Her supple lips curved into a subtle smile.

"I have no idea about that country... And I have nothing to do with them." Damien shook his head and denied whatever thoughts were spurring inside her mind.

"Okay, if you say so. But you sure have become much stronger than before, Damien. You feel much more powerful than when we first met in the southern frontier."

Francine smirked and gazed at her junior through the golden-tinted eyeglasses. Her sapphire-like eyes glimmered with curiosity.

"I have a feeling that you are now stronger than me."

"What do you think?" She tilted her head, and the silhouette of the city loomed behind her. High-rise buildings towered over everything as many more were being constructed throughout New Janus.

Understanding the meaning of her words, Damien smiled and muttered. "No matter how strong I become. I'll always be your junior. Besides, I already have a boss."

"The pay is good, and the freedom is worth it."

Even though he had strength that rivalled or surpassed Paragons, he didn't want to take the responsibility of being the strongest or the guardian of humanity.

"Looks like you're much smarter than Alastair..." Francine smirked and continued. "I would loved some help from the strongest."

Damien chuckled at her words and rubbed the back of his head. She wasn't wrong about his growing strength. Even though his half a hundred thousand Terror Points became a single digit in mere moments.

It continued to grow from the Terror of the Clan and the higher echelons of the Federation. In their eyes, he had become a disaster.
