Chapter 358: Predators And Prey.

Thor didn’t speak when he woke up. Instead he winced because of the sudden light in his eyes. Then the movement of standing up made him groan in pain.

Arthur raised an eyebrow as he watched him fumble around and swallow pills in a hurry. He was slightly amused because Thor looked like someone suffering from a particularly bad hangover.

He curled his lips slightly and chuckled to himself when he had this thought. But then he glanced at the imposing red golem standing some distance away and stopped being amused.

The thought of the golem losing control made the chuckle in his throat die an abrupt death. The golem was just too powerful for him to feel comfortable about any mishap happening to it.

The golem felt dangerous and unnatural to him. He couldn’t sense much of its power from outside of it like he could do with human beings at the third mortal coil.

But the little he could sense indicated a powerful source of power with such a high intensity that the mere destruction of that power source could kill him due to the resulting explosion.

So the golem was something he was powerless to fight and couldn’t afford to destroy. With it close to him, the golem was like a knife he couldn’t swallow but had to keep in his throat. He didn’t like it at all.

To be honest, he was curious about the golem. He had wanted to examine it when Thor was asleep, but then he thought of the possibility of the golem attacking him for self-defense because he was poking at it and ultimately didn’t let his curiosity lead him to ruin.

He said to Thor, "It is good that you’re back. I could never stay alone with your golem. It creeps me out."

Thor shook his head and said, "He is so cute and kind. Why would he creep you out?"

Arthur glanced at the golem again. He saw the bones and flesh hanging all over it due to the many collisions it had with some people earlier.

It wasn’t the sight of the debris made of human body parts all over its body that creeped him out. It was the fact that he too would become human debris if the golem so much as collided with him that creeped him out.

But he didn’t bring it up. He said to Thor, "I guess beauty is only in the eyes of the beholder."

The two of them relaxed for a while as they divided the space pouch of the disciples of the Sword Way sect. Then they picked up their things and began moving again.

They hunted for a few hours more. But they had to give up after 20 hours of hunting because there was nothing left to harvest.

After 20 hours, the secret realm had been picked clean. So the disciples of the various sects turned on each other.

It was dark outside, but it was daylight all day in the secret realm due to the bright light of the Ethera tree. This bright light ensured that visibility was high and helped Arthur see how chaotic the secret realm had become.

From above, it could be seen that disciples were either chasing or being chased. Very few could hide without being found. Most of them were running away from others or running in pursuit of others.

Arthur and Thor had joined this chaos. They were mainly the hunters, not the prey. They proved that again and again to whoever mistook them for prey.

They weren’t the only ones who were predators in the secret realm. There were many other predators too, which meant that they sometimes crossed paths with other predators.

One of the people they crossed paths with was Jason and Goldwyn. The two of them were chasing a group of disciples from the Sword Way sect.

Jason had unlocked the full state of his Armament. This turned him into a humanoid flying bird. The bird that he had become was golden and bright, but deadly, not kind.

Goldwyn himself had become a humanoid lion. He was a golden lion with a large mane around his neck and large claws on his hands.

Jason pursued the group in the air while Goldwyn pursued from the ground. Jason shot feathers of light from his outstretched wings. This made him look like an exploding firework in the sky.

It was a mesmerizing sight. But the people below weren’t having a good time at all.

The feathers of light were fast and sharp. They had poor performance against organic matter like armor and swords. They would shatter in harmless light if they struck armor. But if they touched organic matter like flesh, they would dissolve into the flesh and melt the flesh.

So the feathers of light were more like acid to the flesh. They would cut flesh to the bone in an instant. Those beneath them were suffering because of it.

Arthur was impressed by the sight. He especially liked that Jason could fly. But one thing that drew a lot of his attention was Goldwyn’s performance.

Goldwyn was among the people that were struck by the feathers of light. Jason’s attack was indiscriminate, so many of the feathers fell on him, but Goldwyn was completely fine.

Not only was Goldwyn unharmed by the rain of arrows, but he was also fine enough to fight someone in the middle of the deadly shower of light.

The person that Goldwyn was fighting also drew Arthur’s attention. The person was a female disciple of the Sword Way sect, and it seemed that she had reached the second stage of Oneness with the sword.

The combination of the cultivation at the peak of the second mortal coil and the second stage of Oneness with the sword gave him enough power to rival Goldwyn.

The fight between Goldwyn and the lady was eye-catching because sparks of light were flying between them as they clashed.

The two of them were moving at such fast speeds that it would have been impossible for someone at the first mortal coil to keep track of them.
