Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure-Chapter 438 - 437: The Sudden Arrival
Claire Sullivan urgently shouted, a bright knife directly pointed at Serena Sullivan.
The following words "come here" were swallowed back by Claire Sullivan.
"Didn’t expect to wait for both of you at once."
It truly felt like heaven was lending a hand.
Joel Quinn crawled in through a hidden doghole at The Sullivan Residence; he didn’t dare go to the main house, afraid of being discovered by the servants.
Although there were people cleaning Mr. Sullivan’s place, it wasn’t a place where people lived, so the servants weren’t meticulous about maintaining it.
Sometimes he hid under the bed, sometimes in the cabinet.
He knew Claire Sullivan would come to visit Mr. Sullivan, and he waited for her, unexpectedly, along came Serena Sullivan.
"Uncle Joel, long time no see." Serena glanced at the knife at her throat and greeted with a smile, not as panicked as Claire Sullivan.
Someone so close to death, would they still fear being threatened with a knife?
"It has been a long time." Joel Quinn pressed the knife closer to her throat, and blood began seeping out.
"Don’t hurt her!"
Claire Sullivan became frantic; she didn’t dare approach nor call for help, afraid Joel Quinn would harm Serena in anger.
"I won’t hurt her." Joel Quinn sneered, looking at Claire Sullivan.
"Good." Claire Sullivan nodded, "You’re here for money, right?"
"I’ll give you all the money I have."
Claire watched the blood flow out, staining Serena’s neck, dripping onto her clothes, distressing her to tears.
"Joel Quinn, if you dare hurt Serena, you won’t get a penny."
Joel Quinn had shown up, undoubtedly for money.
He was targeting her too.
"Money!"
Joel Quinn smirked, "I want money, but you two..."
He glanced at Claire and then at Serena, gnashing his teeth with hatred for this mother and daughter.
"Joel Quinn, I know you’ve landed in big legal trouble."
Claire Sullivan steadied herself and continued negotiating with Joel Quinn, "How about this, I’ll find you the best lawyer, help you reduce your sentence time."
"I’m in jail because of you!"
Joel Quinn retorted coldly, glaring at Claire, remembering how he was deceived by this face.
A woman with a child, she wasn’t fit for him.
"You take my place in jail."
He wanted Claire Sullivan to take the fall!
Almost without hesitation, Claire Sullivan agreed, "Alright."
"I’ll go to the police and confess, take responsibility for everything you did, but don’t hurt Serena, okay?"
Claire Sullivan pleaded.
She owed Serena too much already; how could she let Serena suffer again?
Serena laughed; the wound on her neck made her clearer-minded, yet more pained.
Look, she was a cripple, sitting in a wheelchair waiting to be slaughtered, just like the time she fell from the hotel; her fate was in others’ hands.
"Heh."
"Will Claire Sullivan really take the fall for your crimes?"
"I heard you’ve not only bribed officials but also colluded with gangsters."
"Joel Quinn, each charge against you could put you in prison for decades."
"What bribery! What collusion, I didn’t do any of it!"
Joel Quinn became agitated, rebutting.
The matters weren’t as severe as accused; he was framed.
"I’ve become like this because of you two."
He escaped from the police to The Sullivan Residence, pleading for Claire Sullivan’s help; she refused, and he wouldn’t return.
He didn’t dare go to Ruth Hale either.
So he hid in The Sullivan Residence.
Now with a knife aimed at Serena, once out the door, there was no way to survive.
