Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure-Chapter 501 - 500: He Doesn’t Like Ethan Grant
Wyatt Sterling led Ethan Grant inside, maintaining a smile on his face, but he wasn’t particularly satisfied with Ethan.
Ethan has a good appearance, and his family background is also impressive, but still, Wyatt found him disagreeable.
It wasn’t because his sister Felicity liked him, fearing she might be taken away, but because seeing Ethan reminded him of Serena Sullivan.
Serena wasn’t the most beautiful or intelligent person he’d ever met, yet she left the deepest impression on him.
Especially after the incident on their family’s island, he had nightmares for a while, all involving Serena speaking to him with a radiant smile.
It was truly strange! He couldn’t help but wonder if he was in love with Serena, otherwise, why would her accident cause him such heartache, and why did he feel such aversion towards Ethan?
Ethan also didn’t like anyone in the Sterling Family.
He followed Wyatt to the Sterling family garden, where the old man was already brewing tea in the pavilion.
The Grant Family in Solaria had been rising rapidly over the years, and Mr. Sterling first noticed Ethan many years ago when hearing about the incident where the Eldest Young Master Grant confessed to the Sullivan Family’s daughter on Solaria’s news.
Since then, he’s been keeping tabs on The Grant Family matters.
He knew that The Grant Family opposed Ethan’s relationship with Serena, knew when Serena had her accident, The Grant Family and Ethan stood by without helping, and knew that over the past four years, Ethan had taken control of The Grant Family, firmly establishing himself as the leader of The Grant Corporation.
No matter what, Mr. Sterling didn’t have a good impression of The Grant Family and Ethan.
Ethan wants to marry Felicity, that’s not his concern, but if he wants to marry Serena, that’s something he’ll interfere with.
"Mr. Sterling!"
As he approached, the thoughtful Mr. Sterling looked up and saw a lean man.
He had seen photos of Ethan before, and now meeting him in person, he felt this man had lost his former charm, emitting a kind of desolate aura that made people inexplicably uncomfortable.
"Do you play chess?"
The chessboard was set up on the stone table, and Ethan smiled faintly as he sat across from Mr. Sterling, "Yes!"
The Sterling Family didn’t invite him over just for a game of chess.
Mr. Sterling was good at chess; usually, when playing, people would let him win, except for Mr. Sterling.
Every time Mr. Sterling sat down to play with him, despite his pleas for mercy and anger, he would relentlessly defeat him.
Facing Ethan, the old man planned to ungraciously clear the board of his opponent’s pieces, but shortly after the game began, Ethan took one of his knights.
"Do you even know how to play?"
Accustomed to being humored, Mr. Sterling said with displeasure.
"Capture!"
Ignoring the old man’s irritation, Ethan raised his hand and took the old man’s "chariot".
The knight and the chariot were both captured consecutively, with a ruthlessness even more intense than Simon Sterling, showing no regard for his feelings.
"You, doing things with such arrogance, don’t leave anyone any dignity."
"Dignity is reserved for those who deserve it!"
Ethan replied indifferently, concentrating on the chessboard, planning to take piece by piece from the old man until he was left with only a "general".
These words displeased Mr. Sterling greatly. He wanted to marry their daughter, yet acted so arrogantly and disrespectfully.
"Hmph!"
The old man sneered, "Mr. Grant, what do you think of our family’s daughter?"
He didn’t specify Felicity!
Ethan assumed it was Felicity.
"Not much!"
He replied coolly, unceremoniously taking another piece from the old man, leaving him too frustrated to continue the game.
Ordinarily, people wouldn’t dare let the old man lose so embarrassingly.
Out of the three grandsons, only Wyatt would let the old man lose by a step or two.
