Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 306: Never Been This Happy Before
Next, Nathan Ayers will definitely retaliate, then Miles Harrington will strike back. The two of them will fight each other to the death.
"Since the two of them joined forces to trap you abroad and confine me in The Directorate, and their relationship is so good, I found it displeasing. So, I let them cause trouble for each other, that way, you don’t even need to lift a finger."
Seraphina Redgrave swallowed a grape.
This was really convenient; they didn’t have to exert any effort to see these two people trouble each other.
"As expected, my woman." Ethan Sterling’s eyes were filled with laughter, "Just as wicked as your man."
"..."
Now, she can only stay here, unable to take a step outside for decades to come.
The only things she could see were the scenery available, with only a few fixed people she could meet.
Since it’s like this, can’t she vent a little on Nathan Ayers and Miles Harrington?
Although, she knew they all had their reasons.
"Do you hate them?"
Seraphina bit into the peach Ethan Sterling brought to her lips and shook her head, "Actually, they were doing it for your own good."
In fact, being able to have two friends who are willing to do anything for you isn’t a bad thing.
Hearing this, Ethan Sterling’s face darkened, "For my own good, they would even kill you?"
How could that be.
Seraphina looked at his expression and said, "Before you returned, I actually thought I’d be abandoned."
Even she didn’t expect Ethan Sterling to come back regardless of everything. How could they?
"Heh, how could that be."
Ethan Sterling slightly raised an eyebrow, looking straight into Seraphina’s eyes, his gaze filled with countless emotions, "Do you believe? Even if I lost my life, I wouldn’t let you lose yours."
Saying that, Ethan Sterling grasped Seraphina’s wrist and leaned over to bite into the grape she had just picked up.
The weight of those words was too heavy, Seraphina felt like a thousand-pound burden was put over her shoulders.
"Ethan, honestly, I haven’t really done anything for you."
Thinking about it, all this time, it has been Ethan Sterling who has been giving one-sidedly.
"You don’t need to do anything for me, just staying by my side is enough." Ethan Sterling immediately responded.
This was his only request from her, it has always been that way, and it has never changed.
"I will live here from now on, as long as you want to see me, you can find me anytime."
Since she has decided to go along with his wishes, she would have no regrets.
"Alright."
Ethan Sterling leaned back a bit, stretching out his long legs in a lazy, casual manner, exuding a devilishly charming aura.
Seraphina sat opposite him, listening to the rain starting again outside. As she ate fruit, she soon finished off an entire plate.
She speared the last piece of peach with a fork, intending to feed it to the man opposite her, when she looked up and noticed Ethan Sterling was gazing outside.
Following his line of sight, Seraphina saw the rain outside, getting heavier, like little stones pelting the ground, creating puddles.
Raindrops splattered on the flowers and plants, making them look vibrant and lush.
"Actually, if you pressed me back then, I could have given everything for you. I could have even used your knife to stab myself, throwing Z Nation back into chaos, just like a century ago."
His narrow eyes were fixed on the door, with an indiscernible change in his gaze compared to before, "But you gave up Veridian Isle, gave up everything, just to be with me, as Ethan’s woman, always beside me. It makes me very happy, truly happy."
"..."
Seraphina retracted her gaze, steadfastly looking at the man before her.
Ethan Sterling also turned to look at her, the deep affection in his eyes hard to ignore, the love barely concealed, "Seraphina, never have I been this happy in all these years."
Was she this important to Ethan Sterling?
If so, then she didn’t make the wrong decision.
Seraphina smiled, a genuine smile. She reached out and brought the last piece of fruit to Ethan Sterling’s lips, "I’m happy too."
Ethan Sterling lowered his head and bit into the fruit she offered, his warm fingers holding her delicate wrist, still wrapped in white gauze, under which an electronic shackle could be felt, "Once you’re nearly recovered, I’ll have Miles Harrington’s people remove this shackle from you, and then, you’ll have nothing to do with Veridian Isle anymore."
Nothing to do anymore.
Hearing this, Seraphina felt a bit dazed, but she still smiled and nodded to Ethan Sterling.
...
Compared to the three days spent in The Directorate, Seraphina’s days at the manor felt almost heavenly, incredibly comfortable.
There was never a shortage of good food and drink, and everyone was kind and harmonious to her.
The scenery at the manor was in no way inferior to any tourist spot, with the clear mountains and waters on sunny days, and the poetic atmosphere on rainy ones. Every plant here is nature’s best gift.
Warm sunlight blanketed the entire manor, and when it fell on people, it felt warm and cozy.
Seraphina sat outside in the courtyard painting, contemplating her next brushstroke, when a meowing sound with a crying tone came, and little Deer circled around Seraphina restlessly, with big dark eyes looking pitifully at her, as if asking for help.
Next came the sound of Nanny Lynch’s grumbles.
"You foolish little cat! You’re fed with all kinds of good cat food, and now you’re catching mice!"
Nanny Lynch ran over and grabbed little Deer, spanking its behind twice.
Little Deer knew it was being scolded, and whimpered pitifully, sending a signal to Seraphina for help.
"Alright, it won’t dare next time." Seraphina found it amusing and said with a smile.
Nanny Lynch couldn’t really bring herself to hurt little Deer, only pretending to hit it before releasing it.
Regaining its freedom, little Deer jumped into Seraphina’s arms, curling up like a little ball.
Nanny Lynch said a little angrily, "Miss, don’t always defend it. It should know by now what’s okay and what’s not. In such a big manor, we clean and take care of it every day, and we don’t know where this rat came from that it found. It’s so dirty and smelly, a rat that can only live its whole life in dark sewers, never seeing light, what’s tasty about it? Little Deer really is something."
Hearing this, Seraphina’s smile turned a bit wry, "Nanny Lynch, your words have a wide range, someone like me might take it personally."
