Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 319: There’s Someone Behind Selena Quinn
"Impossible!"
Seraphina Redgrave instinctively denied the suggestion.
"Are you really sure that besides Ryan Sterling himself, no one else knows about your relationship with Ethan Sterling?" Hector Shaw asked worriedly.
No.
There’s also Selena Quinn.
"Logically, it doesn’t make sense. Even if they knew about it, would they really easily believe that Ethan Sterling is involved with a woman from Veridian Isle, and would want to risk everything to protect a woman from Veridian Isle?"
Seraphina frowned.
He is Ethan Sterling, head of the conglomerates in Z Nation.
But now he hasn’t stepped forward to openly declare that Seraphina Redgrave is the one he’s protecting, so who would dare oppose him? Moreover, constant struggles occur among the conglomerates; it’s not possible for them to unite just like that.
Hector Shaw stood there, arms crossed, and said in a deep voice, "Even if your analysis is flawless, the fear is that the person behind it truly has the ability to persuade the conglomerates to unite."
"..."
Could it be Selena Quinn?
But isn’t she in love with Ethan Sterling? Would she really be willing to hurt Ethan Sterling just to get herself out of trouble now?
Even if Selena is willing to go all out against Ethan Sterling, how could she have such capability?
The more Seraphina thought about it, the more her spine chilled. From the start of her speech, everything indeed seemed to have been orchestrated by Selena Quinn, but by now, it only proves that there’s an even more powerful force behind Selena Quinn.
Is it Ryan Sterling?
But he’s currently under house arrest at the manor; how could he have such capability?
Layer upon layer of enigma, with Mia Redgrave behind Selena Quinn, who is truly behind Selena then? One puzzle after another, it seems endless.
"Haven’t you received any relevant information on your end?"
Hector Shaw asked curiously.
With the power held by Ethan Sterling and Miles Harrington, even without an intelligence network, they shouldn’t be completely out of the loop.
"It’s my fault."
Seraphina acknowledged that she hadn’t been thorough enough with her considerations.
Lately, she and Ethan had been recuperating at the villa, and before that, she had Nathan Ayers causing trouble for Miles Harrington. Their intense feud made it easy to overlook some side issues, not to mention their subordinates.
"Seraphina, if the conglomerates really unite against Ethan Sterling, forget about protecting you; Ethan might not even be able to protect himself."
Hector Shaw uttered the most chilling words in the calmest voice, "Staying by his side will only bring him endless trouble."
"..."
Seraphina’s gaze suddenly turned cold, as sharp as a mountain waterfall.
Hector Shaw was slightly taken aback by her gaze and asked uncertainly, "Surely you don’t think this is a lie I’ve concocted to make you leave with me, do you?"
He scorned such actions.
"I didn’t think that."
Seraphina stood on the lush green lawn, her hands clenched into tight fists, her fair face radiating a fierce intensity, "I just didn’t expect that despite being willing to let the conglomerates go, they still wouldn’t stop."
If she wanted to cause trouble, the entirety of Z Nation would have been in chaos long ago, and peace wouldn’t exist now.
She had already decided to spend the rest of her days as a dead person, yet they still wanted to entangle with her.
Seeing this expression, Hector Shaw felt a sense of familiarity; this was the expression Seraphina used to show in the past, "What do you plan to do next?"
"I need to get this message to Ethan Sterling first." Seraphina continued, "You should leave first; standing too long isn’t good for your health."
At these words, Hector Shaw glanced at his legs, a glimmer of understanding and pleasure crossing his eyes.
It seems that Seraphina still cared for an old acquaintance of Veridian Isle, indicating her faith hadn’t been so easily destroyed. As long as faith remained, everything could improve.
Seraphina herself wasn’t as caught up in thoughts. After saying this, she turned and left.
Upon returning to the villa, Seraphina dialed Ethan’s number, but the cold ringtone continued without anyone answering.

Seraphina sat on the sofa, an ominous feeling arising within her, as her right eyelid twitched intensely.
What was Ethan Sterling planning today?
...
The setting sun hung obliquely on the horizon, its warm light temporarily softened this cold world.
On a spacious road bathed in light, a line of black sedans parked neatly by the roadside, exuding an imposing aura.
At the tail end of the last car, many bodyguards in uniform stood with hands behind their backs, expressionless, lined up.
This scene spurred even the passing birds to hasten their flight, just wanting to escape quickly.
Inside the foremost car sat two men, one noble, the other lazy.
They were Miles Harrington and Ethan Sterling.
The silence inside the car was almost suffocating.
Ethan Sterling fiddled with a sapphire-encrusted lighter, passing the dull time.
In stark contrast, Miles Harrington’s expression was grave and tense. He checked his wristwatch and then stared intently at the road ahead, even his breathing heavy.
If they succeeded today, Sovereign would change dramatically.
If they failed, he must consider resigning.
"Knock knock."
The car window on Ethan’s side was tapped, and he rolled down the window to see Nathan Ayers standing by the car.
Nathan bowed respectfully to him, "Young Master Sterling, we’re only waiting for the last group to be deployed. Once they’re in action, the influential old families in Sovereign will soon be under control."
"Go ahead."
Ethan casually uttered these words, as if the command was of no consequence.
"Yes."
Nathan tensed, prepared for the formidable battle ahead.
He gestured to the bodyguards gathered behind them, who immediately boarded the cars, and the black sedans left one after another.
"Nathan, it’s been over a decade since we fought alongside anyone, hasn’t it?" Miles Harrington noted with a hint of helplessness, "Do you want to persuade him again? This is the last chance today."
Nathan could only try; he was unlikely to succeed.
At those words, Nathan looked at Ethan’s steadfast profile, a bitter expression on his face, his voice tinged with remorse, "All these years, I rarely made choices. Whatever Young Master Sterling said, I followed, but that one time, I decided to follow my own heart and made the wrong choice."
He had believed it would protect Young Master Sterling, shielding him from harm, yet Ethan had returned to him, battered and bruised, having resorted to a smuggled vessel to come back.
Such a colossal mistake, he wondered if Young Master Sterling could ever forgive him, if his own conscience could find peace.
Even though Ethan hadn’t scolded or beaten him, Nathan felt the gulf between them deepening, more painful than any reprimand or punishment a hundredfold.
