Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 748: Colleague
Hannah didn’t say anything more, but the little girl suddenly leaned over the man’s shoulder, her eyes meeting Hannah’s directly.
Seeing the little girl’s chubby cheeks and adorable appearance, which rarely failed to please, Hannah smiled at the girl.
The girl shyly stared for a moment, then turned her head back with a bit of embarrassment, smiling.
Once they got on the small train, their seats were in adjacent rows, each row accommodating four people. Hannah and Evan were seated next to a pair of siblings, seemingly an older brother looking after his younger sister. Once on the train, their parents asked Evan and Hannah to help look after the kids.
Evan was clearly quite good with children, which was probably a key reason why he was so adept at being a pediatrician.
The brother seemed to be in middle school, appearing quite mature.
The sister was about four years old, rather mischievous, very active, and found everything fascinating. Evan gently held onto the child’s clothing, discreetly protecting her.
"Brother! Brother! Look over there, there’s a dinosaur!"
The brother furrowed his brows in slight distress, "Sit properly! Stop moving around! You’ll fall off!"
Watching them, Evan couldn’t help but think of Audrey.
Audrey was like this when she was little too. She loved sticking close to him and found everything fascinating, but she wasn’t as mischievous and listened to him very well.
The little girl in the front row, hearing the voice of the girl behind, also started looking around for dinosaurs. Once she spotted them, she tugged excitedly at her own brother, sharing what she found fascinating.
Suddenly, the wind blew the little girl’s hat off her head. She quickly pressed her head with urgency, saying, "My hat’s been blown away!"
The hat luckily blew to the back row, where Evan quickly grabbed it and smiled as he handed it back to the little girl sitting in front.
The girl’s mother smiled gently and said, "Thank you."
The little boy sitting next to the mom also turned to look back, and when Evan saw the boy’s face, his smile faltered slightly before he responded, "It’s nothing."
The boy’s mother took the hat and put it back on the girl, who worried that the hat might get blown away again and kept pressing it down with her little hands.
And Evan occasionally glanced at the young boy sitting in front because the boy looked so much like his third brother when he was a child.
If this child and his third brother’s childhood photos were placed side by side, it would be like a copy-paste.
Previously, he seemed to have heard Audrey mention in the group chat that she met a child who looked remarkably like their third brother. Whether it was this child or not, he couldn’t be sure.
The forest train looped back to its starting point, and Hannah watched Evan hand over the siblings to their parents, saying, "You seem to really like kids."
Evan glanced down at Hannah and said, "They’re okay. What do you want to do next? Everything seems to have long lines."
Hannah looked around, her gaze landing on a nearby vendor selling milk tea and grilled sausage, and said, "I want to go over there and get something to eat."
Following her gaze, Evan immediately showed a bit of disdain on his face, asking, "Didn’t have lunch?"
Hannah muttered softly, "I didn’t have time after putting on makeup. I was in a hurry to leave because I was afraid you’d rush me, but I didn’t know you’d plan to ditch me."
Evan sighed helplessly and said, "I saw a commercial street when I came over earlier. They should have restaurants."
Hannah replied, "Restaurants in here must be expensive. I’ll just have two grilled sausages."
Evan said, "Eating too much of that junk food is why you don’t grow taller."
Hannah: "..."
Clearly having made up his mind, Evan led Hannah towards the commercial street.
"Luna?"
Upon hearing a familiar voice calling his name from not far away, Evan looked up and was momentarily stunned when he saw Arthur. He then glanced at Hannah beside him. It was too late to hide.
Arthur’s attention clearly shifted to Hannah, since it was indeed surprising for Evan to suddenly appear with a young girl.
"Who is this?"
Evan quickly composed himself, calmly introducing, "Oh, a colleague. We bumped into each other by chance."
Arthur scrutinized Hannah with skepticism and chuckled, "She looks young, didn’t expect she’s a colleague."
Quickly changing the subject, Evan asked, "Third Brother, why are you here?"
Arthur was momentarily taken aback by the question and instinctively glanced at Janelle Tollman, who was standing in line with two children by the rotating planes not far away. He laughed dryly, "Just wandering around, ended up here."
Evan knew how far their entrance was from this place, and using the "just wandering" excuse was clearly a poor one.
It was evident neither brother was being entirely honest, but neither delved into the other’s secrets. Evan pointed in the direction of the commercial street, saying, "We’re planning to get something to eat."
Arthur nodded with a smile, "Oh, alright."
After walking away, the brothers both glanced back at each other. Their eyes inadvertently met, and they exchanged a slightly awkward smile before each moving on.
Hannah asked puzzledly, "Who was that?"
Evan replied, "My third brother."
"Ah? Your third brother? You should have said, I didn’t even get to greet him!"
Evan gave her a sidelong glance, "What are you saying hello for?"
Hannah pouted and asked, "Why did you lie, saying I’m your colleague?"
Looking straight ahead, Evan didn’t answer Hannah’s question and instead changed the subject, "What do you want to eat? Chinese or Western?"
...
Arthur stood outside the line, contemplating how to approach without seeming odd.
Both kids already recognized him, and the sister seemed particularly fond of him.
The brother looked quite shrewd, not as easily fooled as his sister, so he decided to start with her.
The line soon moved forward to Janelle Tollman and Wayne Archer, each escorting a child onto a toy plane.
Arthur proceeded to the exit they would soon pass, glancing around once more. He spotted a very prominent Winnie the Pooh helium balloon; it was the largest and most conspicuous among the vendor’s balloons.
Arthur walked over, paid, and bought that particularly noticeable balloon, then casually stood at the exit with it.
Within a few minutes, the spinning planes came to a stop, and parents with children began to trickle out through the exit.
Spotting Janelle, Arthur discreetly shifted aside slightly, making his wait appear less deliberate.
His balloon successfully caught Noah’s attention, who excitedly said amid the noise, "Mom, look at that Winnie the Pooh, it’s so cute."
