The sudden display of information threw Joel for a loop. Before he could ponder further on what he was looking at, a deluge of information entered his brain, causing him to halt momentarily.
System, Paths, Records, Stats, Evolution, Adaptability, parties, and so on.
Joel was rooted to the spot, and the more he sorted the information, the heavier his breathing became.
All his life, his idea towards growth had been quite Linear. It was difficult to ascertain what would happen if one strayed too far from an already established path it was too uncertain on what would happen, which is why it was rare to see people go through unique paths that differed from the norm. Many had tried, but few had succeeded.
Joel was a bit of an outlier due to his unique constitution. His physique wasn't anything special, but his Oni blood was special due to him being able to ignite it.
That was literal.
He was still understanding the nuances behind it, but any time he wanted, he could quite literally ignite his Oni blood, and when he did this, blood-red flames escaped his pores to make it seem like he was engulfed in a red Aura of fire.
This process wasn't painful, but it drained his energy rapidly in exchange for a massive increase in stats. But that wasn't what made it so spectacular. What did was how it increased his effectiveness when it came to forging.
The flames were his blood that was burning, and whenever he activated them, he could imbue things with them, for example, his forging hammer. By doing this, he could inject the flames into whatever he was crafting whenever his hammer struck it. Whenever this happened, he found that his connection to whatever he was forging would deepen with each hit, and his understanding of what he was forging increased significantly as the process continued.
He already had a natural talent for forging, but this skill, which he aptly named Blood Ignition, was what set him above others, and the biggest reason his master decided to take him under his wing.
However, even this wasn't enough to allow him to be capable of forging the Quasi-Apex ranked weapon. No matter how much he increased his understanding, there was always something that eluded him, and it wasn't due to him not using Blood Ignition long enough.
However, something about this system told him that this was exactly what he needed. So after looking through the options for the different system Paths, he decided to pick Skill Mastery.
As soon as he did, he was surprised to see an additional message.
[Path has been chosen]
[3 Skill Points have been granted]
[Missions Panel has been unlocked]
[System can now give recommendations.]
[Please assign Skill points to one of the following skills:
[Advanced Blacksmithing (Level 10)
Steady Hands (Level 9)
Samadhi (Level 8)
Fire resistance (Level 12)
Blood Ignition (Unique)
Blacksmiths' Insight (Level 5)
Keen Eye (Level 4)
...
Note: System recommends skill points to be assigned to the [Blacksmiths' Insight] skill.]
Joel watched with a stunned expression. He hadn't even noticed when his jaw went slack and hung open.
These were all his skills and their levels, that much was obvious, but seeing that he could increase their effectiveness just with skill points, now that was something he didn't imagine seeing today.
'Could... could it be?' He didn't want to believe it, but this place, the Primordial Expanse, had done so many miraculous things already, so he was more inclined to believe something was so more than it wasn't.
Still, even for him, the idea that he could increase the effectiveness of his skills just by assigning some points sounded outlandish. Which made him all the more eager to try it out.
In hindsight, he probably should have settled down to think things through more clearly, but something just clicked when he saw the Skill Mastery path.
So, following the system recommendation, he assigned all three skill points to the Blacksmiths' Insight.
He then watched something appear in the bracket next to the skill.
[Blacksmiths' Insight (Level 5 1/4)]
Then it increased.
[Blacksmiths' Insight (Level 5 4/4)]
[Blacksmiths' Insight (Level 6)]
As soon as the next level was achieved, Joel froze.
'This feeling...'
It was something he'd only experienced five other times in the past. Something he couldn't explain or control how or why it happened, but whenever it did, he would improve in his Blacksmithing skills rapidly.
A sudden, uncontrollable influx of inspiration.
Without thinking, he turned his attention to his crafting area.
He ignored his teacher and walked to where they kept their materials. He took out several fist-sized rocks from a storage and went to the furnace.
Usually, he'd just rely on his normal fire magic and supplement the flames brought by the furnace.
However, without thinking, he put the ores into the crucible before placing it into the furnace, and once he activated it, he ignited his blood.
Immediately, he felt a surge of power fill him, but he ignored it. Instead, he started pumping the furnace with his flames, the golden fire taking on a red hue as the temperature surged at a startling speed, and the ores melted at a speed visible to the naked eye.
As soon as they started melting, he reduced the intensity at which he used his Blood Ignition to a low simmer.
His eyes were wide and impossibly focused as he watched the ores melt into a single white hot liquid.

As soon as this was done, he took the crucible out and poured the liquid into a mold. But before it could even start cooling down, he started carving the paths fot the magic circuits into it.
This was dangerous. It was advised that Blacksmiths wait until their creation is Semi-Cooled before they start inscribing the paths for the circuits. To late and they run the risk of permanently damaging their creation, too soon, and they run the risk of the paths not forming properly.
But Joel was in the flow. He used his Mana in a way he never had before, injecting it into the mold and letting it take the shape of the various circuits he wanted, leaving small spaces in it as the metal cooled.
Once it was solid, he took it out. But instead of quenching it, he took the still red hot blade and put it back into the furnace.
Once it was white hot again, he took it out, used his Mana again. And started creating even more paths.
At this point. He vaguely heard a sound akin to a ding, but he ignored it completely, solely focused on the task in front of him.
He did this three more times before finally taking the metal and dumping it unto a special liquid that served as the one used to quench their creations. It not only increased the strength and durability of the creation, it also allowed the circuit paths to form with greater ease while allowing the creation to be enhanced easier in the future, and finally, it made runic inscription easier.
Once the white color faded, he shockingly put it back into the furnace. But this time, he didn't do anything with the circuits, and once it was hot again, he placed it on his anvil. He grabbed his hammer and let his ignited blood surge and move to his hammer.
Then he started striking the sword.
Methodically, repeatedly, he struck. Each strike causing the blade to take shape more and more. Each strike, he imbued his ignited blood into the creation. With each strike. He gained a deeper understanding of the weapon.
He didn't hear anything else, all he was focused on was the thing before him as it took shape under his relentless hammer strikes.
Finally, he poured what remained of his ignited blood into his hammer, and gave it one final, powerful strike.
The moment it hit, a loud sound erupted, but it wasn't the sound of metal on metal, instead, it was the sound of a roar.
Joel watched as the blade, which was meant to be black, turned a blood red color, and a red Aura covered it, strongly resembling how he looked when he ignited his blood.
Joel saw this, and continued to move.
He grabbed the still hot blade and quenched it again, then he set it down on a work table and started to create the circuits. One hand imbued the paths with Mana while another hand grabbed something that looked like an inscription pen and started drawing runes across the srmurface of the blade.
With each rune drawn, Joel guided it through the paths as he created the circuits with his Mana.
Eventually, he finished, and he finally snapped out of his concentrated state. And as soon as he did, he passed out.
