Chapter 44: 44. Planning And Reflecting.

Two days passed since Aaron and the girls ventured into the mountain peaks to face off against the alpha, things within the barony had been mundane ever since, and everyone had been busy with one thing or the other.

And right now, Aaron stood in his father’s study. He was looking at the location of Winterfell City marked on the map in front of him.

Winterfell City was the very first city in the barony to experience the very first demonic beast tide and now everything had been destroyed to ruins, hence why many call the city ruins now.

While he was still looking at the map, Aaron traced the inked lines of his father’s barony with his finger before stopping at the ruins.

The edges of the map were scribbled with notes about danger, miasma and demonic beasts as well and he continued to take a few notes of some other things.

Meanwhile, Luna stood behind him with her brows currently furrowed. "Big brother, do you really have to go there? I..... I heard the city is cursed, maybe you shouldn’t..."

"It’s not cursed, Luna," Aaron glanced over his shoulder as he replied back with a firm expression on his face. "It’s just corrupted, that’s all. And if we don’t reclaim it, the beasts will keep spreading and before we know it, they’ll overrun the barony, and we can’t let that happen,"

Luna bit her lip as she glanced down at her feet but her eyes were filled with worry and fear. "B-but what if..... What if something worse happens if you go there?"

Listening to what his sister said, a sigh escaped Aaron’s lips and he turned around before placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Yes, it’s a risk, Luna, I know, but it’s one we have to take. The city is within our borders and we can’t afford to leave it untouched," Aaron explained but before Luna could respond, Diana entered the room while her armor clinked lightly as she walked.

"If we’re going to tackle the ruins, then we’ll need a solid plan. Winterfell isn’t like the forest or the mines we’ve faced already. The beasts inhabiting the ruins are more faster and deadlier than any other beasts we’ve encountered so far,"

Aurora followed behind Diana and her satchel of potions slowly swung at her side while she walked. "The scouts reported that the miasma there is a lot stronger than the ones we’ve faced in the forest and the mines. If we’re heading over to the city, then I’ll need time to prepare some healing and strengthening potions,"

Listening to what the two ladies said, Aaron nodded in understanding. "Very well, we’ll leave in two days. That should give us time to prepare and to be ready for anything,"

Aaron informed the girls and everyone nodded their heads in understanding.

And just like that, the meeting came to an end with everyone returning back to their room to make sure everything they’ll need for their upcoming journey is ready.

Now, Aaron was in his room with Glimmer padding behind him. He closed his bedroom door before sauntering to his bed to rest his body.

He plopped down on the bed before taking a look at his status to see if anything had changed since he fought against the alpha.

For the past two days, Aaron had been extremely busy and he rarely had anytime to do anything else, much less checking his status, and that’s why he was interested in taking a look at his status now.

In a matter of minutes, the blue screen popped up before him, displaying his status..

Based on what he could see, Aaron noticed a few changes in his attributes and bond energy points as well.

Initially, he had fifty bond energy points before venturing into the mountain peaks.

However, he had sacrificed ten bond energy points for the Frost Fang Wolf, leaving him with forty bond energy points, but his bold act in healing the wolf had rewarded him with five bond energy points, thanks to the wolf’s increase in loyalty towards him.

With that aside, there were no major changes in his status aside from his attributes. Glimmer and Thunder’s loyalty and power level remained the same as when he last checked his status, but Aaron also noticed something odd as well.

’Hmm, there are two unknown elemental abilities of the Frost Fang Wolf,’

’Does this mean the system is unable to identify what these skills are because of how low his loyalty is towards me,’ Aaron assumed this to be the case, and he was right about this.

The wolf’s bond with him is relatively low and as such, the system could only reveal a limited amount of information towards Aaron but once Aaron’s bond with the wolf had increased significantly, the system would have access to know more about the wolf’s abilities, thereby making it easier for Aaron to know about it as well.

Anyways, with that out of the way, Aaron drifted his attention towards the small pile of yellow mana crystals he had stacked on his table.

With a groan escaping his lips, Aaron stood up from his bed to absorb as many crystals as possible while also keeping in mind the requirements needed to aid Thunder in undergoing his first evolution.

And this was how Aaron spent the rest of the day doing mundane and boring stuffs like absorbing crystals, but later that evening, Aaron sat with Diana and Aurora in the mansion’s small garden.

The air in the garden was refreshing and everyone enjoyed the cool air caressing their skin.

Luna walked into the garden with a tray of tea and biscuits in her hand.

Everyone thanked her and grabbed their mugs and biscuits before enjoying their snacks.

Well, not everyone shared the same feeling in this regard. "This feels..... strange," Diana admitted as she stared at the tea and biscuits in front of her. "I can’t believe I’m sitting here, about to drink tea when I know we’ll be walking into one of the most dangerous places in the barony. I should be training right now, instead of doing this,"

"It’s called balance, Diana," Aurora replied gracefully with a beautiful smile on her lips. "Every warrior needs moments like this once in a while and besides, you’ve been training all day long, don’t you think your arms needs to relax a bit?"

"I guess Your Highness is right, maybe I do need to relax a bit,"

"Good, now enjoy your snacks and don’t interrupt everyone else from doing the same," Aurora instructed in a playful tone and Diana nodded her head in response.

But while the two ladies were discussing and smiling at each other, Luna, on the other hand, looked at Aaron and asked in a tentative voice. "Have you... thought about what would happen if you can’t clear the beasts in Winterfell?"

Aaron see his teacup down and turned to meet her gaze. "Failure is not an option, Luna. If we don’t do this, the miasma will keep spreading, along with the beast, but I’m not planning on failing,"

Diana smirked faintly after hearing what Aaron said. "Confident, aren’t you?"

"Nah, I’m just trying to be prepared," Aaron replied before glancing at Glimmer, who lay curled by his feet. He smiled a bit before saying. "We’ve come so far since we began with taking back the farmlands, and I don’t intend on stopping now,"

Diana and Aurora smiled while eating their snacks and drinking their tea.

This was how they felt right now but they were happy to see that Aaron felt the same way as well.

The three continued to chat and get closer to each other and once they were done with that, everyone went back to their room to rest and prepare for the next day.
