Chapter 45: 45. Training With Diana .

The next morning, the sounds of swords clashing against each other echoed loudly within the courtyard. Diana and Aaron were currently engaged in a sparring session.

Both had been sparring for quite sometime now, and that’s why they were currently breathing heavily.

Once again, they both took their stances before engaging in another battle, and while this occurred, Diana noticed a few mistakes in Aaron’s movement which was completely different from her sharp and precise movements, so she decided to correct him a bit.

"Lower your shoulders," She barked. "And stop hesitating! A beast won’t give you time to think. You should know this more than anyone else,"

Aaron adjusted his movement and his grip tightened on the hilt of his sword, allowing him to easily make a fluid strike which earned him a nod of approval from Diana.

"That’s better, but you’re still too slow. You weren’t like this when the beast tide occurred a few days ago. Don’t tell me you’re acting this way because you see me as a girl?"

"So, you want me to see you as a man?" Aaron teased with a smirk. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"Haha...very funny,"

"Thank you very much," Aaron playfully bowed towards her with a smile.

"I wasn’t complimenting you,"

"It doesn’t matter, I’ll take it, either way," Aaron shrugged indifferently.

"Anyways, that’s enough training for one day," Diana suggested as she sheathed her sword. "We have a lot to do tomorrow and you need to preserve your strength," She informed him before leaving the courtyard.

Nearby, Aurora was sorting through her potions and muttering softly to herself as she checked her supplies. Luna sat beside her and was helping her in arranging the potions they had brewed together.

Meanwhile, Thunder stood close by with his antlers crackling faintly with electricity and Glimmer played with the stag’s little tail.

Once done, Luna noticed Aaron and Diana had ended their session, so she approached Aaron while holding a small vial. "Big brother, look, I made this for you. It’s a stamina enhancing potion, in case you get tired during your travels or during combat,"

Aaron smiled while taking the vial. "You made this?" He asked as he took a look at the vial.

"Yes, I did. Princess Aurora showed me how,"

Aaron smiled once again before ruffling her hair. "Thanks Luna,"

The little girl smiled and watched as her big brother left the courtyard.

That evening, Aaron and the girls sat together in the dining room, right after they had eaten their dinner.

Luna was currently sitting beside Aaron but he could see that Luna had something in mind that she wanted to say, and so he asked. "What’s wrong?"

Luna hesitated but replied nonetheless. "Right after you left the courtyard in the morning, I stepped out of the mansion with lady Diana to check out the weapons the blacksmiths were making,"

"And?"

"I heard two blacksmiths talking about what they heard happened in Winterfell,"

"Were they from the city?"

"I think so,"

"So, what did they say?"

"They said someone might have caused the first beast tide that occurred in the city,"

Aurora was also in the room, and she couldn’t help but raise her head right after she heard what Luna said. "Did someone really say that?" She asked Diana who was also in the room with them.

"Yes, Your Highness,"

"What’s wrong?" Aaron asked Aurora because Aurora seemed like she knew something that he didn’t.

"What Luna said now sounded like a rumor I heard from our elders,"

"What rumor?"

"There were rumors of a dark mage unleashing demonic beasts and corrupting the land. No one knew if this was true because no one had ever seen this dark mage before,"

"But what if this dark mage truly exists, how do you think he’ll be able to easily spread miasma within the barony?"

"If this dark mage truly exists, then he’ll most likely be using an artifact to do this," Diana replied.

Aurora nodded her head in agreement. "An artifact is the only thing I can think of as well, but finding it won’t be easily but the most likely place to find it should be where it all began,"

Aaron pondered on the words the princess said and after a while, he spoke up. "We’ll focus on what’s in front of us, for now. If there’s truly an artifact in Winterfell that’s spreading dark mana, then we’ll destroy it,"

"And how do you suppose we do that?" Diana asked while her arms were crossed underneath her breasts but Aurora replied back.

"I’ve been working on a purification vial for the past two days now. It isn’t perfect but I think it should be enough to weaken the artifact for us to destroy it."

"Very well, then we know what we have to do," The girls nodded in understanding and everyone decided to call it a night.

They had a long journey ahead of them tomorrow, and they needed to rest now before leaving the capital tomorrow morning."

The next morning, everyone prepared for the journey in their own way. The moment they were done and ready to leave the mansion, they gathered in the courtyard with their weapons ready and their packs loaded as well.

Aaron looked at the girls and asked with a steady voice. "Is everyone ready?"

Aurora adjusted her satchel and Diana gripped her sword. "We’re ready,"

Luna hesitated but nodded with a determined look in her eyes. "Be careful,"

Glimmer barked in response and Thunder stomped his hooves on the ground as everyone geared up to leave.

"Let’s move out,"

And with that, everyone stepped out of the mansion, with Diana and Aurora mounting a horse while Aaron mounted Thunder.

The trio spent hours passing through the farmlands and the mountain peaks before arriving at their destination.

Along the way, they came across several demonic beasts which the group easily dispatched, and as they approached the ruins, they noticed as the air grew colder, the trees became sparse and how the tree trunks twisted in unnatural ways.

There were also several mists that clung to the ground along with the strong presence of miasma in the air.

Aurora swiftly cast a spell that created a barrier around them, preventing them from breathing in the corrupted mana.

Currently, they were standing at the edge of the fallen city and they could see the jagged walls of several collapsed buildings, covered in dark vines and the they noticed as the ground beneath their feet felt brittle, almost as though the land itself was rotting.

"Stay close," Aaron cautioned firmly as they began to move.

But as they moved deeper into the ruins, the amount of miasma in the air grew heavier and faint whispers drifted through the air and into their ears, but no one knew the source of those whispers, and this pulled everyone senses on high alert.

Glimmer froze and her ears twitched while Thunder let out a low rumble while his antlers sparkled brighter.

Aaron swiftly activated his {Scout Insight} skill, and two holograms appeared in front of him before dashing around but it was too late for that because Aaron and the girls were already surrounded.

A chilling growl echoed within the ruins as twenty five dark, shadowy creatures emerged from several shadows on the floor.

"Shadow panthers," Diana muttered out loud as she prepared herself mentally for battle. "They’re fast, vicious and nearly impossible to see in the dark," She added.

"Yes, they are, but they’re not impossible to kill as long as you have fire or light based spells,"

Hearing this, a smirk appeared on Aaron’s face, then he turned to Glimmer. "You know what to do, Glimmer,"

The Fire Kitsune barked and lunged forward while leaving a trail of flames behind her but the panthers scattered around and their growls slowly turned into snarls as they circled Aaron and his team.

Meanwhile, Diana stepped forward and her sword flashed as she struck one of the panthers mid-leap. Aurora cast a fire-based spell and several fire arrows hovered around her before aiming for the beasts around them.

Thunder charged into the fray and his electric sparks stunned a couple of panthers long enough for Aaron to finish them with a precise strike.

The battle was chaotic but swift. The panthers loud cry of agony filled the area and in a matter of minutes, everywhere turned silent.

The final panther fell and disintegrated into ashes.

Seeing this, Aaron and his team regrouped while breathing heavily but after a while, Diana suggested while leaning against a nearby wall with her arms crossed on her chest.

"We should keep moving. It’s getting dark and we’ll need to find a good place to camp in for the night,"

Aaron nodded and sheathed his sword. "She’s right. Let’s go,"

They continued to walk around in search of any demonic beasts but soon, they encountered a chamber.

As they entered the large chamber, the group noticed the three shadowed beasts standing in front of them.

The bodies of the beasts were sleek and serpentine and they had their eyes glowing in red.
