My Beast Evolution System-Chapter 49. Final Threat.
Glimmer darted forward with the flames engulfing her body as she tried to weaken the body of the beast, and Thunder followed right behind her.
Diana charged in and her blade flashed in the light as she struck at the exposed bone of the beast.
The battle continued for a while, but in the end, Frostfang appeared out of nowhere to help them as well.
Together, with the wolf, Aaron and the girls were able to slay the beast and all the remaining demonic beasts in the barony as well.
"It’s over." Aurora leaned heavily on her staff with a pale but relieved face.
"It’s done," Diana sheathed her sword while breathing heavily.
Aaron placed a hand on Thunder’s flank and his gaze swept across the chamber. "We did it. The graveyard is ours now."
"Yes, but the amount of miasma in the air is still concerning."
The group decided to take a break, and once they were rested, they decided to locate the dark artifact responsible for spreading miasma throughout the barony.
The moment they found it, everyone destroyed it, ensuring that the graveyard, along with the city, was immediately free from the miasma in the air.
As they walked around the graveyard, Aaron and the girls saw some visible changes around them, and that assured them that there wasn’t a single demonic beast within the barony anymore.
"Not bad, Baron, your barony is now safe," Diana remarked as she glanced around the graveyard and everything around her.
"Can we head back now? I’m exhausted," Aurora voiced out her thoughts.
"Yes, we’ve earned the right to rest a day or two."
"Don’t you mean a month or two?" Aurora jested and everyone giggled as they returned to El Dorado.
As the group journeyed back to Town, the sun had just begun to set, Aaron and the girls could see how the town’s gates were lined up with townsfolk who immediately began cheering at the sight of their return.
"Three cheers for Lord Aaron and his beasts!!!"
"Banzai!! Banzai!! Banzai!!"
"Three cheers for Princess Aurora and Lady Diana!?!"
"Banzai !!! Banzai!!! Banzai!!!"
"Thank you so much, Baron!! We love you, Baron!!! You’re the best!!!"
"Thank you so much for giving us a life to live!!!"
"You’re amazing!!"
The atmosphere was electric and everyone expressed their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Aaron and the girls.
Meanwhile, Luna could hear the cheers all the way from where she was in the mansion, and she ran out of the mansion to find her brother.
The moment she spotted him, her face lit up and she ran forward to give Aaron a hug.
Aaron dismounted Thunder and hugged Luna.
"You did it! I knew you could," She trembled a bit as she hugged him tightly, but Aaron smiled and hugged her in return. The two remained like that for a while before they all returned to the mansion.
Later that evening, Adrian and the girls stood on the balcony of the mansion, overlooking the bustling streets of El Dorado. The town has transformed since Aaron decided to reclaim the barony back from the demonic beasts.
Now, markets were thriving, defenses were fortified, and merchants moved around the city with purpose rather than fear.
Luna pointed to the distant fields. "Look, big brother, the crops over there are growing faster."
"Yes, Luna, I can see it."
"So many things have changed and improved over the past few weeks." Aurora pointed out.
"Yes, the red mana crystals have been invaluable in making weapons as well," Diana added. "It’s only a matter of time before the soldiers become better equipped than ever before."
Aaron watched as children played in the streets and their laughter filled the air.
Their laughter was certainly a stark contrast to the silent fear that once gripped the hearts of the people of the town.
A smile appeared on his lips as a feeling of pride washed over him for the things he had accomplished so far.
Over the next few days, Aaron took his time to connect with each of his beasts, along with the girls.
With Frostfang, Aaron decided it was time he visited the stubborn wolf once and for all, after all, the wolf had been helping them in their previous battles even though he had never asked it to do so.
Within this period, Aaron had given Frost Fang the name Blizzard, and Blizzard officially became the third magical companion of Aaron.
Blizzard also moved into the mansion but would occasionally return to the forest, just like Thunder, but Aaron had noticed Blizzard sleeping on the floor next to his bed at least once or twice.
It almost felt like the wolf was making sure no one would attack Aaron in his sleep.
The reason why Blizzard could only stand watch once or twice in a month, was because that was the only time Aaron could get a good nap for himself.
Most nights, he was awake because he was usually working for twenty-four hours every single day as he tried to bring his barony back to the prosperous state it was before the first beast tide occurred.
As for Diana, Aaron spared some time to meet her for more sparring sessions. Whenever their blades clashed, Aaron would notice a few changes in Diana, just as he had noticed in himself.
Diana’s movement had grown sharper and more precise, and now, she was a better knight than she had been when he first met her.
"You’re holding back," Diana said with a smirk. "Don’t tell me, you’re afraid of losing?"
Aaron grinned and replied. "We’ll see about that."
The two exchanged blows until Diana finally disarmed him with her sword stopping right on his shoulder. "You’re still predictable," She teased and Aaron laughed as he picked up his sword. "And you’re still relentless."
"Thanks, but you’re definitely improving," she admitted with a smile.
And this was how Aaron had been spending his time with Diana while also managing the time he spent with his beasts and his role as a Baron.
