Chapter 50: 50. Planning A Picnic.

As for Aurora, Aaron decided to go out for a stroll through the town, with her. The two of them spent their time together, observing, but Aurora would occasionally pause at a stall that was selling herbs and pick up a small bundle before observing them intently.

"Aaron, these are really rare herbs that I never thought I would find here," she admitted and Aaron could only smile in response because he knew little to nothing about the herbs in this world.

As for Luna, Aaron had grown accustomed to seeing her in the garden, tending to her flowers and the ones in the greenhouse as well.

She noticed him approaching from a distance and she giggled before approaching him, her face lighting up with a wide smile. "Big brother, look, they’re blooming."

"They’re beautiful, Luna. You’ve certainly got a gift for this."

"Hehehehe. I just like making things grow."

Aaron smiled and playfully ruffled her hair a bit. "Just keep doing the things you love to do."

A few days passed, and on a pleasant evening, the group gathered in the mansion’s sitting room. A fire crackled in the distance and it cast a warm light over their tired faces.

"Haaa, I’m exhausted." Diana groaned out loud.

"Me too," Luna lamented as well, and so did Aurora. "Me three."

Aaron and everyone else concluded their conversation and chuckled a bit before heading to their separate rooms to call it a night.

Now, Aaron was the only one left in the room with his beast. He looked at his beast, and his gaze lingered on each of them.

"We’ve come a long way, guys, and I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for you. You guys are the best."

Glimmer curled up at his feet and let out a soft yip while Thunder and Blizzard lay down nearby.

Adrian looked around the room, his gaze lingering on each of them.

Aaron spent a bit more time with his beasts before deciding to call it a night, but just as he stepped out of the dining room, Aaron noticed the elf princess lingering in the hallway, so he approached her.

"Is something on your mind, your Highness?"

Aurora turned around in surprise, as he approached her after asking the question. However, she hesitated before answering him. "The barony is safe now Aaron, but my kingdom isn’t. I’ve simply been thinking about what comes next."

Hearing her words, Aaron’s gaze on her softened, and a small smile appeared on his lips. "Your Highness, if you want to reclaim your kingdom, we’ll help you."

Surprised by his words, Aurora looked at him and asked. "You’d do that?"

"Of course, Aaron replied with a wider smile. "You’ve stood by me through everything, so it’s only expected of me to do the same for you."

"Thank you so much, Aaron. This means a lot to me," Aurora thanked him with a grateful smile.

"You’re welcome, Your Highness. If there’s nothing else left to talk about, I believe now would be a great time to head to bed," Aaron suggested with a wink.

Aurora giggled before asking teasingly. "Together?"

"Hmm, sharing a bed with the princess of the elf kingdom will certainly be a dream come true for me. So, what do you say, your Highness? Would you accompany this lonely Baron to his bedchambers and keep him warm? Who knows, this might just be an exciting experience for you."

Aurora giggled again and replied with her tongue poking out. "In your dreams, Baron. Goodnight Baron."

Aurora knew that Aaron was only kidding with what he said and that he only did it because he was trying to make her smile. His efforts to make her happy made Aurora appreciate having the Baron by her side.

The next morning, the sunlight filtered through the windows in the mansion as the group gathered in the dining hall. For the first time in weeks, there was no immediate crisis for them to address, so everyone was simply there to eat and enjoy some leisure time.

Luna placed a plate of freshly baked bread on the table and made a suggestion with a bright smile on her face. "I think everyone in this room deserves to have a proper break."

Diana raised an eyebrow in curiosity before crossing her arms. "A break? I don’t think we need that right now, we should just focus on rebuilding the barony."

"And we’ve been rebuilding nonstop," Luna countered with a firm voice. "All I’m saying is that we could just set aside one day for us to rest, laugh, and be normal, what do you think?"

A thoughtful expression appeared on Aurora’s face and she glanced at Aaron before agreeing to what Luna was proposing. "She’s right, Aaron. It wouldn’t hurt to experience this break Luna is talking about. No matter how everyone in this room tries to hide it, we’re all exhausted and a real break would really do us some good."

Aaron leaned back on his chair and his gaze swept across everyone in the room.

Thunder was currently standing near the chair he was seated in, with his antlers sparkling faintly, and Glimmer was sprawled lazily near the inglenook while Blizzard rested in another corner of the room with his icy breath misting the air around him.

"What do you have in mind?" He asked Luna.

"I was thinking that maybe we could all go on a picnic. What do you think?"

"I agree," Aurora quickly said before Aaron could even come up with a response, then she turned to Diana. "What do you think, Diana?"

"If everyone wants to go, then I don’t see why we shouldn’t."

"Then it is decided we’ll be having our picnic tomorrow," Aaron came to a conclusion, and a beautiful smile appeared on the girls’ lips.

Even Diana couldn’t help but smile after seeing how much Aurora and Luna were excited about this upcoming picnic.

With that out of the way, the group spent the next couple of hours gathering supplies and other things they would need for their picnic.
