Chapter 51: 51. Picnic.

Luna packed a basket with cheese, bread, and fruit while Aurora brewed a pot of herbal tea and carefully poured it into a flask.

Diana sharpened her sword while muttering about always being prepared, Aaron checked on his beasts and made sure that every single one of them was well-fed and ready to accompany him

Once ready, Glimmer barked excitedly with her fiery tail swishing back and forth, Thunder let out a soft rumble while Blizzard gave a low growl of approval when Aaron patted him.

Diana looked around and stared at how everyone was getting ready for the picnic, which caused her lips to stretch into a smile. "This is starting to feel like we’re preparing for an adventure, " she said while shouldering her pack.

Aurora smiled faintly and replied. "We’re preparing for a picnic, Diana, not an adventure."

"Well, this could also be seen as our little adventure too," Luna said while chuckling.

"You do have a point there, Luna," Aurora giggled after adding, but Aaron clapped his hands, trying to bring their attention towards him.

"Alright, ladies, it’s time to move."

The girls nodded and everyone stepped out of the mansion. A few minutes later, the group arrived at a meadow just outside the city.

It was a serene spot that was surrounded by flowers and a clear stream. Luna spread a blanket on the grass and carefully arranged the food they would be eating on the blanket.

However, Glimmer immediately curled up on a corner of the blanket, while sneakily eyeing the delicious snacks in the basket. But of course, Diana, who was seated cross-legged, could see the sneaky fox trying to grab a bite or two from the snacks in the basket.

Meanwhile, Luna brought out a snack from the basket, not knowing that a little fox had its eyes fixed on the snack. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"Are you going to eat that?" Diana asked, nodding towards the snack Luna had removed from the basket.

"Yes?" Luna replied in confusion, wondering why Diana would ask her such a question.

"Then you better eat it now or put it back into the basket."

"Huh? Why?"

"That’s because a sneaky little fox is staring at your meal," Aaron said jokingly before pulling Glimmer away from the basket.

The girls giggled, and then Diana poured tea for everyone to drink. Everyone took a sip of the warm tea and a contented sigh escaped their lips at the same time.

They exchanged glances right after they noticed that they let out a sigh together and a smile filled their faces while they broke into amused laughter.

Diana looked at everyone around her and then back at her tea before opening her mouth to speak. "To be honest, I have to admit that this feels really nice, I’d almost forgotten what it feels like to experience something like this."

Aurora sipped her tea once again and smiled at the words Diana said.

As the day went on, everyone felt relaxed and they began to share stories as laughter filled up the air around them.

Of course, Diana decided to use the opportunity to remind everyone of an embarrassing moment that occurred with Aaron a few days ago.

"Hmm, this reminds me of what happened a few days ago."

"Oh, and what might that be?" Aurora asked with a curious look on her face.

"Wait a minute, don’t tell me it was what happened that day?" Aaron could guess what Diana wanted to say after noticing the look on her face.

"Hehe... Maybe," Diana giggled in response.

"What day is that?" Aurora asked.

"I’m talking about the day the young Baron thought it would be exciting to train with the two of us."

"Oh, that," Aurora giggled after recalling the embarrassing moment that occurred back then.

Now, Luna was even more interested in knowing what had happened, because she had no idea as to what the three of them were talking about. "What happened on that day?" She asked as her eyes sparkled with curiosity.

She leaned closer to Aurora, hoping the elf princess would explain everything to her.

"Baron, over here, fought against the two of us and lost," Diana said teasingly as her lips widened even more.

She was pleased with the embarrassed look Aaron had on his face right now.

Aaron had always tried to maintain a cool and hardworking appearance before his little sister, so it felt embarrassing to see how the girls were revealing his weak side to Luna.

"I told you before and I’ll say it again. Those vines came out of nowhere; how would I know that Her Highness would cast a spell like that?" Aaron protested as his cheeks became red with embarrassment.

"Liar, Princess Aurora didn’t cast a spell to do that; you simply tripped over your own feet and landed face-first on the ground."

Hearing this, Thunder, who was some distance away, couldn’t help but make a sound that made it seem like it was laughing, and of course, Glimmer did the same as well, along with Luna.

She giggled a bit more before handing Aaron a slice of bread. "It’s okay, big brother. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes."

Aaron collected the bread and turned around to eat it, as he tried not to focus on everyone who was laughing behind him. "Remind me never to spar with you two ever again," Aaron groaned while taking a bite of the bread he was holding.

The girls chuckled a bit more and everyone chatted and giggled some more before they all decided to do other things.

Time passed slowly and the sun began to dip towards the horizon. However, Aaron was alone with Glimmer beside him, but then, he suddenly noticed Aurora sitting by the stream and trailing her hands through the cool water.

He quietly approached her before her before sitting down beside her. "This was a good idea," He muttered loud enough for her to hear as he tried to break the silence between them, and Aurora nodded in agreement.

"Yes, Luna was right about us having a picnic. We needed this."

Aaron watched as Aurora continued to create ripples across the stream. He smiled a bit because it was the first time he had ever seen the elf princess playing like a child, but his expression turned serious right after, and he asked.

"What you said the other night, about your kingdom, have you decided on what you want to do?"
