My Beast Evolution System-Chapter 53. Diana’s Fierce Training And Aaron Trains With His Beasts.
Aurora nodded in response. In fact, for the past few weeks, she had been brewing potions with Luna and a few of the maids in the mansion, so this wasn’t really a problem for her.
Therefore, with that out of the way, Aaron decided to address Kain and his men. "Kain, you will have to make sure your men are ready to follow orders. Every single one of you has to acknowledge the fact that this isn’t about pride or even revenge; it’s about survival, both yours and that of everyone else you care about in the barony."
Kain and the rest of the warriors bowed once again as they spoke in unison. "We won’t let you down, Lord Aaron."
Just like every single one of the warriors kneeling in front of Aaron, Kain had lost his wife and children when the demonic beasts stormed into their kingdom.
Elves were primarily a peaceful race and it was rare to see them engage in battle, let alone a war.
Within the kingdom, the number of elves skilled in combat wasn’t even up to twenty in numbers.
These elves were nobles, but their interest in swordsmanship was merely out of curiosity and boredom.
Humans barely raged war against them because they were all too busy battling against themselves. But no one could have predicted the demonic beasts appearing out of nowhere and charging towards the elf kingdom.
Diana and her family were nobles and also the only family to have more than eight elves proficient in swordsmanship.
Of all the elves in the family, Diana was the youngest, and she was also the only one that was closest to Aurora, hence why she had been Aurora’s friend since the princess was young.
During the demonic beasts’ invasion, Diana’s family took it upon themselves to save as many of their people as they could, leading to their demise.
The same thing occurred to Aurora’s family as well, thereby making her the last remaining survivor of the Elven royal family.
Kain and the rest of the warriors behind him weren’t even warriors to begin with.
They were either fishermen, farmers, or instrumentalists working hard every day to bring food to the table for themselves and their families.
However, during the time they fled their kingdom, Kain and a few other males had been forced to arm themselves with makeshift weapons to protect the rest of the survivors.
Many were killed while a few survived before they arrived safely at El Dorado, thanks to Aaron’s late father.
In a nutshell, out of all the elves currently staying in the barony, Diana was the only one who knew a lot about how to handle a sword, and that was exactly why she was the best candidate to teach Kain and his men what she knew.
And so, with nothing else to do, everyone left the room to prepare for whatever they could.
Diana had instructed Kain and his men to rest for the day because their training would start the next day.
Time passed, and later that evening, Aaron sat alone on the balcony, staring at the town below. He recalled the decision he made today and the weight of the decision he made weighed heavily on his chest.
He was completely lost in his thoughts and he didn’t even know when Aurora approached him until she set a cup of tea on the small table before him.
"You’re taking this too hard on yourself, Aaron," she said before sitting down beside him.
Aaron sighed before picking up his cup. "Maybe you’re right, but it’s not easy to send people into danger. I know what it feels like to lose someone, and I don’t want to be the cause of that," Aaron recalled a terrible memory of his past he wished he would never experience again.
Aurora noticed the look in his eyes and she gently placed her hand over his. "Kain and his men came to you out of their own free will. You are not forcing them to do what they don’t want to do. Just like you and I, I believe Kain and his men would love to reclaim our kingdom without losing anyone around them and that’s why Diana is going to help us make them ready for what’s to come."
Aaron nodded in understanding before thanking Aurora. The two continued to converse a bit more and once they were done, they went straight to bed.
The following morning, Diana gathered the elven warriors in the training yard and she walked down the line while assessing each of them.
Her sword gleamed in the sunlight as she addressed the warriors in front of her.
"You’re here because you want to fight," She said to them in a commanding tone. "That’s good, but wanting to fight and being ready to fight are two different things. Over the next three weeks, I’ll be teaching you all how to survive."
Kain stepped forward and spoke on behalf of everyone standing behind him. "We’re ready, Lady Diana."
"You’re ready?" She asked with a murderous look on her face.
"Y-yes."
"Just because you wielded a blade a few months ago, now you think you’re ready? Well, think again. Demonic beasts don’t care about your skill or your pride. They’ll kill you without a second thought. That’s why, for the next three weeks, you’ll listen to me, or you’ll die. Understood?"
The warriors exchanged uneasy glances but nodded in unison. Kain, who was standing at the front, once again spoke on behalf of all the warriors. "We’re ready to learn."
"Good," Diana said with a smirk. "Now, let’s see if you can keep up."
Diana started to train them with basic drills: footwork, stances, and defensive maneuvers. The warriors struggled at first, and their movements were uncoordinated, but as time passed, Diana’s relentless guidance pushed them to improve.
Actually, it’s more that it forced them to improve.
"Again!" Diana barked in command, as one warrior fumbled while parrying an attack. "You’re not fighting a shadow, you’re fighting for your life! Now, move like you mean it!"
"Yes, ma’am!!!!"
"We’ll see about that," Diana replied back with a smirk, then she began to give more orders while demonstrating a few other combat techniques she wanted them to know.
Meanwhile, Aaron watched all these from a distance while leaning against a wall with Aurora and Luna by his side.
Luna was currently holding Glimmer in her arms, and the little kitsune had curled up in Luna’s arms to enjoy the feeling of her hand scrubbing and patting her body.
"She’s tough with them," Luna voiced out her thoughts while watching Diana begin to explain a few things to the warriors.
"She has to be," Adrian replied. "They’re fighting something far worse than anything they’ve faced before."
"I hope Diana will be able to train them well within three weeks."
"She will, and that’s why I trust her," Aaron chuckled before turning around to leave the training yard.
"Really, you trust her? Then what about me, big brother, do you trust me too?" Luna asked while walking alongside her big brother.
"Hmm, should I?"
Hearing his words, Luna pouted cutely. "You’re supposed to say yes, why are you still hesitating to trust your own sister?"
Aaron chuckled once again and he gently ruffled her hair. "Alright, little lady. You win; I trust you, too."
"Good," Luna giggled, then petted the little fox in her arms.
The siblings discussed a bit while Aaron made his way to his father’s study.
Of course, Luna accompanied him, but she tried her best not to disturb him.
Later that evening, Aaron went to the forest with his beasts by his side. Initially, he had wanted to use the period to reflect on everything that had happened to him so far since he had arrived in the world, but instead, he decided to use it to strengthen his bond with his beasts.
Aaron was curious as to how many bond energy points he would be rewarded with if he was able to successfully train alongside his beasts, hence why he decided to bring them here to train with him.
"Alright team," He said as he addressed Glimmer, Thunder, and Blizzard. "Let’s see what we can do together."
Aaron began with Glimmer. He focused on working on her stealth and agility. The fox darted through the underbrush and her fiery form increased her speed, allowing her to easily impress them during training.
"That’s good, Glimmer," Aaron praised and added. "But let’s try combining that with Inferno Strike, okay?" He continued to make a few more instructions and once he was done, he turned to Thunder next and helped him practice his lightning bolts skills.
Thunder’s antlers crackled a bit as he charged at a nearby target and the impact sent a shower of electrical sparks into the air.
"Perfect," Aaron praised while he patted Thunder’s body. "But let’s work on speed. You’re strong Thunder, but I need you to be faster."
He continued to train with Thunder for a while and once he was done, he turned his attention to Blizzard to help the wolf hone his skills and improve his control over ice.
Blizzard unleashed a frozen domain and a large section of the ground became covered in frost. "That’s good, Blizzard," Aaron encouraged. "Now, let’s try focusing more on the target when using it next time. We need precision if we want to succeed against future demonic beasts."
