Chapter 61: 61. Journey To Hidden Vale.

"You’ve got a talent for this," Aaron complimented Aurora as he knelt beside her.

Aurora smiled faintly and replied back. "Doing this, keeps me calm and it reminds me that even in the darkest times, maintaining one’s health and well-being should be a priority,"

"Just like you have,"

Aurora smiled but didn’t say anything in return. The two continued to stay close together, admiring the flowers and herbs around them before heading to bed in their respective rooms.

And this was how everyone had been preparing intensely on their next adventure.

Diana and Kain continued to train the new recruits, Aurora continued to brew her potions while Aaron increased the intensity of his trainings with his beasts.

And as the month drew to a close, Aaron called a meeting in the mansion’s war room. The map of the elven kingdom lay before them and the six remaining locations were visibly marked in red.

"We’re ready," Diana admitted with a confident tone. "The recruits are sharper than I had expected them to be but Kain’s been a big help,"

"And the supplies?" Aaron glanced at Aurora and she nodded before replying.

"We’ve brewed enough purification vials for the campaign and the maids have been a huge help to me,"

"Good, now here’s the plan." Aaron turned to the map in front of him. "The plan remains the same. Kain, you and your men will aim to claim these three locations," Aaron pointed to three locations on the map.

"It won’t be easy to reclaim these lands but with the number of men with you, you should be able to successfully reclaim at least one of these three locations. If you encounter anything that might hinder you from successfully reclaiming any of these three spots, then return back home with your men immediately. There is no shame in coming back home and regrouping with a new strategy to counter the problems we have in front of us,"

Kain nodded and bowed. "We won’t let you down, Lord Aaron."

Aaron nodded and continued. "The rest of us will take the remaining three. Each of these locations has resources we’ll need to secure, so stay sharp,"

"Sounds like a party," Diana smirked as she tightened her grip on her sword. She couldn’t wait to slay more demonic beasts out of her kingdom and Aurora felt the same way as well.

"Let’s finish this," The elven princess said with a determined look on her face.

And with that, the meeting came to an end. That night, Aaron sat by the fire with his beasts. The quiet crackling sounds of the flames soothed his thoughts while Glimmer curled up beside him with her tails glowing softly.

Meanwhile, Thunder stood nearby and Blizzard lay at his feet.

Luna also sat beside Aaron but she noticed how quiet her big brother was, so she asked. "Big brother, are you feeling nervous about leaving tomorrow?"

Aaron glanced at her and smiled faintly. "A little, but it’s a good kind of nervous," He ruffled her hair and Luna giggled while asking. "Since when has there ever been a good or bad kind of nervousness?"

"Since now," Aaron replied back with a smile and the two laughed with their laughter echoing within the room.

Once done, Luna leaned closer to Aaron to hug him and before she knew it, the little girl had fallen asleep on her brother’s lap.

Aaron smiled when he noticed she had fallen asleep already, and so he carried her to bed before heading towards his room to sleep as well.

The next morning, the sun rose over the city as Aaron addressed his troops in the town square.

The newly trained recruits stood at attention and were split into two groups. Kain led the first group while Aaron led the second group with both Diana and Aurora being in his group as well.

Based on the scouts report, the level of threats in the three locations Kain would be heading to, were minimal compared to what Aaron’s group would be facing, hence why Aaron trusted Kain to succeed in the task handed to him.

"Today, we take the next step in reclaiming the elf kingdom," Aaron began as his voice carried over the crowd. "Each location we conquer strengthens our chances of victory, remember what you’ve learned and trust in your teammates. The battle ahead won’t be easy to conquer alone, but together, you can do it,"

The trained recruits had their resolve strengthened after listening to Aaron’s words and Kain stepped forward before bowing towards him. "My Lord, we’ll start with the northern route. The terrain there is harsh but we’ll manage and won’t fail,"

Aaron smiled and placed a hand on Kain’s shoulder. "I trust you to lead your men well,"

Kain bowed once again before guiding his group out of the city while Aaron turned around to face his own team.

"Alright, gang, let’s move. Hidden Vale awaits,"

The journey to Hidden Vale took them through dense forest trails and rocky terrains but once they arrived, they noticed how the once-thriving valley had turned into a wasteland.

Aaron and his companions moved cautiously because they were all aware of the possibilities of demonic beasts lurking within the area.

Glimmer darted ahead to scout their path while Thunder trotted calmly beside Aaron and Blizzard stayed close to Aurora. Everyone were on high alert but they suddenly noticed the ground trembling slightly and the first attack came without warning.

The ground underneath their feet erupted as a group of burrowing beasts emerged out of the ground.

The beasts had claws and glowing red eyes but looking closely, they seemed like large mutated hybrid of beavers and moles.

"Positions!!" Aaron shouted while drawing his sword and everyone moved into formation.
