Meanwhile, Glimmer noticed how silent Aaron had become. He was just standing still, staring at his hands, and the little Kitsune couldn’t help but wonder why Aaron was doing this.

’What’s wrong? I thought we were returning to everyone else?’ She thought to herself, but Aaron telepathically heard her voice and his lips instinctively widened into a smile as he looked at the little Kitsune.

Of course, the little Kitsune found it strange and she asked once again. ’What’s wrong? Why are you smiling at me like that? Are we going back to the group or not?’

’We are,’ Aaron replied through his mind to see how she would react, but Glimmer hadn’t noticed it yet, so she responded once again as though it was normal for the two of them to communicate telepathically.

’Oh, that’s good, then I suggest we start moving before... Huh?’ Glimmer paused mid-sentence when she realized what just happened.

She stopped walking and slowly turned around to make sure that she hadn’t simply heard things. ’Wait a minute, did you just...?’

’Yes,’ Aaron replied with a nod while his lips slowly widened into a bigger smile this time, but Glimmer asked once more in an intrigued tone.

’So you can...?’

’Yes, I can understand you.’

’Then, this means that we can...’

’Yes, we can communicate now.’

Now she was smiling, and Aaron could feel how excited she was as well.

’But, how... When...?" Glimmer asked anxiously and Aaron replied.

’I don’t know! I was just walking and the next thing I knew, I could hear what the Rockbear said, and now I can hear you speaking to me in my mind.’

’Wow, so you can really understand what I’m saying right now?’

’Yes.’

’Wow, this is so amazing!!!’ Glimmer circled around him in glee.

’I know, right, and I can’t wait to see the look on Thunder and Blizzard’s faces when we tell them about this.’

’Those two are going to freak out when they hear about this,’ Glimmer giggled telepathically and began to hop around Aaron.

’Yeah, their facial expressions will be worth looking at.’

’True, but there’s something important you need to know.’

’Huh? Really? What’s that?’ Aaron asked.

’My rations. I want you to increase the amount of meat I eat in a day.’

’Huh? I should increase it?’

’Yes, I believe now is the right time to quadruple the amount of meat I eat in a day.’

’And why would I do that?’

’Because it is the right thing to do? Besides, those pieces of meat are super yummy. It would be wrong not to have a lot of that juicy goodness for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, don’t you think?’

’Hmm, I see what you mean, so you want me to increase the amount of raw meat you eat in a day, right?’

’Yes, but not just the raw meat. Don’t get me wrong, the raw meat is delicious and I like it as well, but the fried and roasted ones have a different blend of flavor in them that’s just too good to resist.’ Spit drooled from her mouth as Glimmer began to imagine herself devouring a huge bowl of fried meat.

Aaron chuckled and replied. ’I guess you do have a point.’

’Of course, I do. So, will you do it?’ She asked in anticipation while her nine tails wagged excitedly behind her.

’Nope.’

’What?’ Her cute little jaw dropped as she paused in shock for a moment before resuming her walk. ’But why?’

’Because eating too much is bad for your health and general well-being.’

’Huh? Since when was food ever bad for my health? It’s food we’re talking about here. Food is the best. Food is life. So there’s no way it could ever be bad for my health.’

’But your daily rations are enough, If I increase it beyond the norm, you’ll be lazing around all day.’

’Well duh, that’s the whole point of increasing my daily rations.’

’Oh, so that’s what this is all about?’

’What is?’

’You wanna eat a lot and sleep all day. Is that why you want your rations increased? So that you won’t have to train with everyone else, since you’ll be too full to move around, isn’t that right?’

’That’s it. I’m shortening your rations starting from tomorrow.’

’Huh? No way! You can’t do this to me. Thunder’s rations are a lot bigger than mine, so why aren’t you shortening his instead?’ Glimmer wailed.

Meanwhile, the huge Rockbear took a long look at the human and Kitsune in front of it.

It was strange to see a magical beast walking around with a human, much less fighting alongside him.

’Hmm, what an odd pair,’ The huge beast thought to itself while observing Aaron and Glimmer.

’A human and a Kitsune, standing side by side without trying to slit each other’s throats.’

’I thought I was seeing things when I noticed a Storm stag and a Glacial Alpha teaming up with humans and elves to fight against the Jackals.’

’But it seems like I wasn’t.’

’The humans and beasts are really working together.’

’Or could it be that the beasts were forced to join the humans?’

’No, I doubt that.’

’Just by looking at these two right now, the air around them seems friendly.’

’They seem to trust each other as well,’

’But is it just me or does it seem like they are communicating with each other?’
