My Beast Evolution System-Chapter 66. Cute Little Cubs.
The two little cubs noticed that their father’s eyes were focused on a weird creature with two legs and the little creature beside him.
’What is Papa looking at?’ One of the two cubs wondered out loud.
’I don’t know, but I think he’s looking at that weird creature.’
’You mean the weird creature with a little puppy beside it?’
’Yeah, it’s walking with two feet.’
’I wonder what it is.’
’It looks like food.’
’Everything looks like food to you.’
’That’s because I’m hungry.’
’You’re always hungry.’
’Hehe... That’s true. But what about you? Aren’t you hungry as well? You can’t tell me that you’re not hungry... Huh? Something smells so good,’ The little cub suddenly became distracted when it caught the whiff of dried meat coming from the weird creature with two legs.
While the two little cubs were talking to each other, Aaron couldn’t help but overhear what they were talking about, so he dipped his hand into the small pouch he was carrying with him, then he turned around, crouched down a little and extended his arm to give the little cubs the meat. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
But the two little cubs were hesitant to approach him, so they turned towards the large bear and their father glanced around the forest for any impending danger before permitting them to go over to Aaron.
The two little cubs carefully approached Aaron and he slowly placed two lumps of meat on the ground for the two cubs to eat.
*Yum* *Yum*
’Oh, yum, this is so good.’
’Yes, this is the best meat I have ever tasted.’
’I want more.’
’Me too.’
’I must have more!’
’Me too!!!’
Aaron smiled and brought out two more pieces of dried meat from his pouch. ’I can’t give you more after these two, so you have to eat these for now,’ He informed the two cubs, but both of them were more focused on finishing the pieces of meat in front of them than worrying about what he was saying.
’It’s fine, just give it to me.’
’Meat, meat, meat!!’
’Yum yum yum.’
The two cubs demanded more and he happily offered them the pieces of meat he was holding before watching them devour the meat as soon as he gave it to them.
It was strange, but Aaron had noticed that these beasts did not have to open their mouths to speak to each other.
It was done naturally by telepathy and it worked when they were talking to him too. At first, he wondered how he could have heard what the two cubs were saying from a distance, but then he understood that telepathy was just a natural way of communication between beasts; it was completely different from how humans and elves communicated.
He continued to watch the little cubs savor the taste of the meat. However, Aaron suddenly felt a dark aura oozing out of a little Kitsune behind him and sweat immediately began to coat his forehead.
He loudly gulped down a lump of saliva that seemed to clog his throat and hinder his breathing before turning around slowly to take a look at Glimmer.
The moment their eyes made contact, Glimmer asked him while glaring at him. ’Don’t tell me, you fed those little ones my fried meat.’
’Um... Oops?’
Hearing this, Glimmer growled at him and he patted her cute little ears before reassuring her. ’Don’t think too much about it. You’ll have all the meat you want once we return home.’
’Hmph! Promise?’
’Yeah, I promise.’
’Fine, I forgive you...for now,’ Glimmer leaned closer to him to better feel his hand stroke her head and ear.
The little Kitsune purred as Aaron continued to pet her, but Aaron had noticed a few things since he began to speak to Glimmer and the two little cubs.
What he had realized was that one of the cubs happened to be a male while the other was a female.
Of course, since they were cubs, they sounded like little children, but Glimmer sounded like a girl who was only slightly older than the two little cubs and this was probably the reason why Glimmer loved to play around a lot.
Anyway, Aaron’s attention was dragged back to reality when he realized that the two little cubs were circling him in search of more meat to eat.
’Are you sure he has more?’ The male cub asked while sniffing around Aaron.
’Yes, I am sure of it. Can’t you smell it too?’ The female cub asked in reply.
’I guess, you’re right. I can definitely smell something.’
’See? I told you so.’
’Sorry, little guys, those pieces of meat are mine,’ Glimmer stood between them and Aaron’s pouch.
’Don’t you mean yours and Blizzard’s?’ Aaron questioned with a smile.
’Nah, he’s not here right now, so he won’t know what happened to his own portion. We could just say the little ones tricked you and stole all of his meat, right?’
’Nope, we’re not doing that,’ Aaron patted her head in amusement, but then he heard the female cub asking him a question.
’So, no meat?’ The female cub asked.
’I’m afraid so,’ Aaron replied.
’But I like meat.’
’Me too, little one; maybe next time we see each other, I’ll give you all the meat you want.’
’Really?’
’Yep.’
’Yay!!’ The female cub leaned towards him and Aaron patted her back slowly.
’Hey, what about me?’ The male cub asked as well.
’Yeah, I’ll give it to you too,’ He assured the male cub and both cubs leaned towards him so he could scratch their ears and pet them.
The two cubs buried their heads in his body so they could inhale and register his scent; that way, it would be easier for them to recognize him once he came to visit them again.
The ground trembled a bit and the huge Rockbear approached Aaron as well before speaking to him.
’I was right about you. You can really understand and speak our language?’
’It appears so.’
’Hmm, Then I must warn you to leave this forest now, as there are monsters you wouldn’t want to mess with.’
’Are you talking about the basilisk?’
’You have seen it?’
’Not exactly, but...’
’Then, I suggest you leave it that way.’ The Rockbear interrupted. ’Not everyone survives after encountering that demon, so I suggest you take your men back to where you came from before it’s too late. The basilisk is unlike any other demon in this forest. It grows stronger the more it feeds and it’s only a matter of time before it finally feeds on everything in this forest. Use this warning as my way of thanking you for helping me.’
