’I can’t. That demon isn’t something that can be stopped. This forest isn’t safe anymore, you need to leave now if you really care for yourself and that little Kitsune by your side.’

’Leaving the forest isn’t going to change anything. You can leave the forest now, thinking that it will protect your little ones, but you’ll only be giving the basilisk more time to grow stronger until the day it finally leaves this forest as well, once it realizes that there’s nothing left in it. So, try to think this through, we can stop that demon now or leave and risk having the basilisk look for somewhere else to go to.’

’My answer remains the same, human.’

’.....’ Aaron couldn’t say anything else. He could see that the huge bear was hell-bent on leaving the forest with the two little cubs, so he didn’t want to irk the bear by forcing it to help him fight against the basilisk.

He watched as the huge Rockbear noticed the presence of other people watching them, so it called its little ones before returning back to the den.

Meanwhile, Aurora and Diana had arrived at the spot where Aaron was and the two ladies had been silently watching Aaron not only feed the little cubs but also pet them as well.

They also watched as the huge bear and the little cubs returned to their den right after the huge bear sensed their presence.

As Aaron turned around to return back to the group, he noticed Diana and Aurora heading towards him.

Diana was the first to get to him and she sheathed her sword while shaking her head in disbelief at what she just saw. "Do you have a death wish or something? Why would you walk up to a Rockbear cub and pet it?

"Um, ’cause it’s cute?"

"What?"

Aurora chuckled softly as she approached the two of them. "Relax, Diana," She said, placing a hand on Diana’s shoulder. "Aaron wouldn’t have approached the cubs if he hadn’t thought things through," She said with confidence before turning towards Aaron.

"And you too, Aaron, we understand that you’re able to do things others can’t, but risking your life like that isn’t necessary. You should have known that it’s dangerous to approach a Rockbear cub like that, especially when their parents are close by. How do you think Luna would feel if something had happened to you?"

Aaron could see that both ladies had been watching him for a while now, and if that was the case, then it meant that they had probably been worried about him when they saw how he not only fed the cubs but also stroked their furs.

It felt a bit strange to him, but he knew that this was the only way both ladies knew how to express their worries.

It also felt nice to see this new side of them and he couldn’t help but be proud of how their relationship had grown over the past few weeks.

And so, with a smile on his face, Aaron replied reassuringly. "I’ll be careful next time, but right now, we need to find a good place to camp for the night while a few knights scout the area."

The ladies nodded in understanding and immediately began to do what was required of them.

Diana, Glimmer, and a few knights scouted the area in search of any dangerous demonic beasts, while Aaron, Aurora, and the remaining knights walked around in search of a good place to camp for the night.

That night, a camp was set up and Aaron had a brief meeting with the girls right after they had eaten dinner.

Once they were done, he stepped out of the tent to see Glimmer talking to both Thunder and Blizzard, who now had their jaws on the ground after hearing about what had happened earlier that day.

Aaron sighed and shook his head with a smile. To think that the little Kitsune would reveal the events of the day to Thunder and Blizzard before he could do so even though he had told her that he was also interested in seeing how they would react.

’Oh, well, I guess there’s no point crying over spilled milk,’ Aaron leisurely walked over to the beasts. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

He stepped on a few dried leaves, which made some crunchy sounds, and this made Blizzard and Thunder turn around and face him.

They watched as he steadily approached a tree, before sitting on the ground and leaning against the tree.

Thunder and Blizzard walked towards him and they both couldn’t wait to ask him a question.

However, neither of them knew what to ask him.

’So, what do we say?’ Blizzard asked Thunder.

’I don’t know, just ask him a question or something.’

’Well, you can’t just expect me to ask him if he can suddenly understand us.’

’Why not?’

’Yeah, why not,’ Aaron joined the conversation, but neither Thunder nor Blizzard noticed it.

’Because it’s... Huh?’ Blizzard and Thunder’s eyes widened in surprise when they realized that Aaron not only understood what they were saying but also replied to them as well.

’Oh, would you look at that, it seems you can really understand what we’re saying.’

’To think that I would actually live long enough to see the day a human would be able to do something like this.’

Aaron smiled and patted Glimmer who had curled into his lap. ’Yeah, humans are so full of surprises.’

’I agree,’ Thunder said with a nod before walking closer to rest on the ground right next to where Aaron leaned against the tree.

Blizzard also did the same but neither of them asked Aaron anything else.

At first, Aaron expected them to bombard him with a barrage of questions, but right now, it seemed like they were both too tired to do anything.

Glimmer noticed his silence and she asked. ’Is something wrong?’

’Not really, it’s just that I was expecting Thunder and Blizzard to have a lot of questions for me.’
