Chapter 71: Work For Me

Caden smirked. "Yes. What if I want to buy the serum? Who should I talk to?"

Mary still couldn’t believe what she was seeing."You’re also from the mafia and the boss?

"Why are you so surprised? You didn’t expect the Crown Prince of another country could be the Boss of the most notorious Mafia Clan?" He asked.

Juliano gulped. "It’s unbelievable. I heard you became the boss when you were just sixteen. Everyone from the underworld calls you the prince. I thought it was just an alias. I didn’t expect you to be a real prince and the Crown Prince, to be exact."

Caden chuckled. "That’s just how it is. Oh, by the way, anyone who found out about my secret all died. So, if I were you, keep this to yourself."

"Are you saying you will let us live?" Mary asked.

"It depends. For now, I don’t think I have a reason to kill you. Am I right?" Caden asked the two.

Juliano and Mary knew what Caden’s question meant, so they nodded in agreement. They already had some information about the young boss of the Forelli Clan before meeting him, and they wouldn’t dare to anger him.

"Now, let’s talk business. But before that, did my Michael Cerro ask you to invite me to this event?" He asked.

Juliano shook his head. "He asked me to send an invitation to Lucas Wilson."

"Who is Michael Cerro?" Alira asked.

"He’s my grandfather’s secretary. That bastard works for him for years. He was the one who was always present during mom’s high school days in Golden Oak."

She frowned. "So, that means the necklace was also in his hand? Why would he steal the necklace?"

"Trap. They knew if Lucas saw the necklace, he’ll come here. But they didn’t expect he will reject the invitation." Caden answered.

Juliano nodded. "Cerro asked me Mr.Wilson’s answer, and I told him he declined. He was mad, so I thought if I invite you and his twin sister, maybe he would come."

"Did you inform him that we will be here today?" Caden asked.

Juliano nodded. "Y–Yes. H–He’s giving us money, so I wanted to show some gratitude. I don’t really know his reason for inviting Mr.Wilson."

Caden let out a sharp breath. She felt something was wrong when he called Rock.

"Call the others. We have to get out of here." He said.

"I think I should stay here." Lucas suddenly commented.

She frowned. "What? No!"

"He asked for me, right? Then it’s better to meet him and know what he wants. They will suspect something if he arrives and I’m not here." Lucas explained.

Caden turned to Juliano. "You kept us in this penthouse because he wanted to meet Lucas, right?"

Juliano nodded. "Y–Your Highness, I didn’t m–mean—"

Caden raised his hand to stop Juliano from talking.

"I let Lucas talk to Michael to know what his deal is. I have men around you and your family. You just wouldn’t notice them. Tell Michael that me and my fiance left after claiming the necklace. We didn’t talk, right?" He said, giving Juliano and Mary a warning glare.

The two nodded.

"We didn’t meet you. And I was supposed to leave, anyway." Mary Watkins said.

Caden grinned. "Then I guess we’ll drop you to your house, doctor. You didn’t bring your car, right?"

Mary Watkins gulped. She couldn’t deny that she came to the event with her friend, and that friend left even before the event started.

Men in black suit barged inside the penthouse. They weren’t from the Forelli Clan, but from the Wilson Group.

"My men and I will have to leave, but the heir of Wilson Group will be guarded by A.E Security Team. They may not be from the mafia, but they can kill if their master is in danger." Caden said.

Juliano nodded. "I–I know. I will make sure nothing will happen to him."

Caden grabbed her hand and stood up. However, she hesitated, pulling her hand away from him.

"Alira, go. I’ll be fine." Lucas said in a firm tone.

"B–But"

"I’ll stay with him. So, don’t worry. You have to go, Alira." Brie calmly said.

Caden was about to grab her hand again, but she moved and stepped out of the penthouse without a word.

She walked without looking behind her, and she didn’t wait for Caden. Just outside the penthouse, she was surprised to see Phoenix and Rogue.

"Rogue, you’re alright!" She exclaimed.

"Of course! I got a little punishment, but I’m fine." Rogue smiled.

Caden came out of the penthouse after her. She glanced at him because he was also making side glances at her while talking to Rock.

"Boss, I don’t think using the main elevator is a good idea." She heard Rock said.

Caden nodded. "Elijah, is there another way out of here? The fastest way."

Elijah didn’t say a word, but he looked like he was listening to someone and she knew it was Mireya.

"There’s an emergency elevator by the end of this hallway. It’ll take us directly to the parking lot." Elijah answered.

"Can she go there faster than us? Check if someone is around." Caden asked.

Elijah nodded. "She said yes."

Although Rock and the others what the two were talking about, they didn’t ask.

Caden looked at her and reached out his hand. "Let’s go."

She didn’t move, making Caden’s irritation grew. He grabbed her wrist and dragged her toward the emergency elevator.

"Caden, let me go." She said.

Caden gritted his teeth and didn’t say a word. They had to get out of the hotel without being noticed by Michael Cerro. Alira’s sudden tantrum might put them in great danger. He was offended earlier, but his priority was her safety, so he let her be.

"She said everything’s clear. Michael arrived with his men and was on their way to the penthouse." Elijah said.

Caden nodded, then turned to one of his men.

"Did you get his number?" He asked.

The man nodded. "Yes, Boss. Here."

"Phone." He said. Then the man handed him a cellphone.

"Erase them. You know what to do, right? Good. I’ll send a gift." He said.

Alira was unsure what Caden meant and who he had just talked to. She had no intention of asking him. She was more concerned about how Caden held her wrist. His grip was tightening as the elevator descended toward the parking lot.

He dragged her again when they stepped out of the elevator and pushed her inside the car. Mary Watkins followed and sat behind the driver’s seat across from her.

They got out of the hotel safely and quietly, but she was worried about Lucas and Brie.

"Doctor, I’ll go straight to the point. I want to make a deal with you." Caden broke the silence.

Mary nodded.

"Work for me and you’ll be protected by the Forelli Clan."

"It’s not that easy. How can I get out of there?" Mary asked.

"One week. I’ll give you a week to gather all the information you can get. Then I’ll get you out of my grandfather’s hands."

"How can I trust you? As you said, he’s your grandfather and you are also from the mafia."

"I’m not like him. I may be evil in your eyes, but believe me, choosing to side with the evil prince is your best choice rather than staying with that man." Caden said.

Mary took a deep breath. "I’ll think about it."

Caden handed Mary a cellphone. "That’s a burner phone. You can use that to call or send me a message."

The car suddenly stopped in front of a cafe and a high school girl knocked on the window. Caden pushed a button and when the window opened, Mary’s eyes widened.

"Angie!" Mary exclaimed.

"Mom! I was being stalked, but your friends saved me." The girl said.

"Friends?" Mary frowned.

"Yes! That man and that girl. I saw them on the news the other day. That’s Princess Elisia and Skyler Jackson." The girl said in excitement. "You didn’t tell me that you’re friends with the royal family of Flousia." She then turned to the people inside the car and was shocked to see Caden.

"Oh my! You are the Crown Prince!"

"Hello, Angie. I heard a lot about you." He smiled.

The girl screamed and couldn’t hide her happiness.

"Your Highness, I’m a huge fan! And my classmates, we all dreamed of meeting you! Can I have a photo?"

"Angie! Let’s not disturb the Crown Prince. He just dropped me off." Mary looked at Caden. "I think we’re fine. We’ll just walk. Our house is just two blocks away."

Caden nodded. Then he looked at Mary’s daughter again with a wide smile on his face.

"We’ll meet again, Angie. I promise!" He said, giving a warning stare to Mary."

After the mother and disappeared from their sight, Caden pushed the button to close the partition window. Her heart pounded because she knew he was mad at her.
