Chapter 763

Anton thought of the fact that, because of his powers, if he gained the ability to go back to Earth, he should be able to earn enough money to purchase all the things that he used to dream about, like a powerful gaming computer, house and lot, a car, all the things rich kids took for granted that he could only look at enviously. But then again, could gaming really entice him? In this world, Anton could actually delve into dungeons, which were just like the games but in real life. He had fought the undead for survival, which was the premise of most fantasy games that he liked before.

Regarding luxuries, he already had those in this world. The amount of coins he could get from delving into dungeons was enough to keep him and his family rich. The main thing that kept Anton from looking at going back to Earth with indifference was that he did not have any reason to go back. He did not have anyone left there. He did not have any close relatives, and all the friends that he used to have had stayed away from him ever since he was orphaned. Earth only reminded him of all the heartache that he had while living there. He was a pathetic creature trying to eke out a miserable life. Anton also had access to the only thing good that came from Earth, which was the internet, the portal that allowed him to view his favorite otaku things.

Anton even thought of the fact that if he managed to create a portal that would lead back to Earth and the wizards of this world managed to get it and were able to go to Earth, there was a good chance that all the things that were being produced by Earthlings that he loved, like books, anime, movies, and television shows would be interrupted, or possibly even halted, and that was a tragedy he could not accept.

Since Anton had decided to go back home to the Rose Manor, he did not wait any longer, went back to his room, and used a town portal scroll. Once he was back in his room in the manor, he dispelled the portal. He did not plan to return to Enundia.

He was a little down that he was forced to halt his exploration by the severe winter weather. He decided to wallow in his bedroom first for a few hours and did not inform anyone that he was back. He just lay down in his bed and binge-watched the sitcom that he was currently watching, which was The Big Bang Theory. He was already watching the ninth season.

Anton stayed in his room for the next three days without telling anyone. He just let himself rot in his bed. If his body were normal, because of his laziness, Anton did not doubt that he would probably become obese. He did not even level up his Diablo Characters and just stared at episodes of television shows. If he got hungry, he would eat the food stored in his inventory, and if he needed to go to the bathroom, he would. Thankfully, with just a wave of his hand, he could cast his Cleaning spell; otherwise, his room would have been a pigsty by then.

He did not know why he was feeling depressed. Anton theorized that it was a combination of his disappointment that his first attempt at exploring the world failed, and the fact that he kept telling himself that he would fight the undead coalition, but he just ignored what was happening in New Drennor, the loneliness that he had not made any close friends like the ones that he had when he was aboard the ship Amelia, and finally, boredom at his current inactivity.

Of course, Anton understood that the Undead Coalition was a giant organization and he alone would not be able to do anything about them, still, he felt really down that there was nothing he could do.

While Anton was eating dirtily in his bed while watching a television show, his bedroom door suddenly opened.

“Anton, you’re back?! Why haven’t you told anyone that you’re back? There was already a rumor that your room is haunted!” Anders said.

Anton saw his father looking at him in mild disgust at the state he was currently in, with his unkept and scraggly beard, dirty clothes, and dirty bed. Anton immediately stood up, cleaned everything by casting his Cleaning spell, and went to the bathroom to tidy himself.

When he got out of the bathroom, Anders was seated in one of the chairs by the balcony waiting for him.

“I returned three days ago. I was just feeling a little down. I decided to stop exploring since the weather was too severe. I couldn’t remain in the northern forest since there are so many monsters there, and I have to fight all the time, so I rushed to Enundia. When I arrived he kingdom, everything was covered in snow, and there was nothing to see,” Anton complained.

“I need to talk to you, son. New Drennor started recruiting wizards and warriors. The undead are not stopping. They managed to take a third of the city. The Undead Coalition successfully opened a Gate from Rendindura directly to New Drennor, and several Semi-Divine and Divine rank liches arrived.”

Anton found it weird that the highest rank was called “Divine” even if the creature was evil, like the liches of the Undead Coalition.

“With the rate that they’re going, I'm beginning to believe your theory again that the undead would be successful in conquering this continent. I plan to join the fight. With all the gifts that you’ve given me, I think I have enough power to make a difference. Besides, with your portal scroll, it would be easy to go back and forth from here to there,” Anton’s father continued.

Anton was taken aback. He knew that just like him, his father and Anna planned to fight the undead once they had grown in power, but he did not expect that it would be so soon.

“I’ll return to the fight as well,” Anton told his father.

“Anna and I expected that. Your previous captain sent a message asking you to return. Once we’re there, we will be separated, but you don’t need to worry about me; I’m now considered one of the powerful warriors,” Anders laughed.

Anders told him that as a warrior, he would be placed with other warriors.

Antton thought of the Paladin skills his father could now wield and of his father’s armor, the powerful Enigma Runeword item that allowed Anders to teleport. That meant that his father’s survivability was extremely high.

“Anna is already aware of my decision. At first, she wanted to join in the fight, but thankfully, her teachers stopped her. They told her that she would only be allowed to leave once she reached the Archmage Rank. Her teacher told me that it would probably take Anna three more years before she reached that rank,” Anders told him with a smile.

“When are we leaving?” Anton asked.

“I’ll be leaving tomorrow, but you’ll have to stay here for a bit. Ramona, Bruce, and Susan would like to talk to you about the family businesses,” Anders told him.

“I understand. I’ll speak to them. How are you going to New Drennor?” Anton asked.

“Your portal, of course. The wizards established several portals that led to New Drennor.”

After that, father and son talked about everything Anton had experienced in the north, but there was a tinge of sadness in their conversation. They both knew that the upcoming battle would be a very long one and could decide the fate of New Drennor. They also knew that if New Drennor failed, Ormunda would be the next kingdom that would be attacked by the Coalition.
