My Life as a Farm Owner in a Thriller World-Chapter 108: Yucai Middle School 9
She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination. But after Wan Qian finished speaking, the girl crouching on the floor—her skin black as pitch—seemed to flush ever so slightly with a faint tinge of red.
And overhead, in that enormous "eye," the sea of blood that had only just begun to settle suddenly surged again.
The crimson, viscous tide boiled up fiercer than scalding water at a rolling boil, as if it meant to drown the entire world in this abyssal ocean of calamity.
The boiling red waves made the twisted limbs forming the circle of "sclera" around it shudder like deformed insects, squirming and pulling back toward the edges.
The blood-sea swelled violently, until the scarlet "pupil" filled the whole of the "eye."
Drip—A single bead of blood fell from above, landing squarely on Wan Qian's shoulder.
She instinctively reached up to touch it. Is it leaking?
Looks like the school's infrastructure is really lacking—the restroom's so old, and on top of that, it even leaks. It's not even as good as their farm; at least the toilets there don't leak.
By now, Wan Qian didn't much feel like staying in this place. She clasped the girl's hand tighter and asked again, "Will you—come with me?"
The sea of blood overhead gradually calmed again, as though subsiding from some great swell of emotion.
The girl felt the warmth of Wan Qian's hand around hers. At last, she seemed to make up her mind and, ever so slowly, gave a small nod.
Wan Qian beamed, pulling her up.
"Then let's get out of here. It's so dark and stuffy here—staying too long can't be good."
But the girl remained crouched in place.
Wan Qian blinked, her gaze falling on the girl's tangled hair and disheveled clothes.
"You... still want to stay a bit?"
The girl nodded.
Wan Qian understood—of course. Looking like such a mess, it wouldn't do to be seen outside.
"All right then. I'll head out first. Take your time to get things in order on your end—finish up whatever you need to handle. Once you've completed the resignation process, come and find me. I'll most likely still be around here for a few more days, staying at this school. "
Saying this, Wan Qian stood and made for the door. Yet she still felt uneasy.
She turned back. "After I leave, you won't... do anything foolish, right?"
The girl hesitated, then shook her head slowly.
Only then did Wan Qian finally feel at ease. Convinced that she had just saved a life, she left the restroom in high spirits, her steps light and her mood unusually buoyant.
Outside, the Dean of Students was still waiting. Wan Qian had been inside a long while, and Zhang Minglan was growing anxious.
But since it had been Wan Qian who insisted on going in, she hadn't dared stop her, so she had no choice but to lead the way for her. Otherwise, Zhang Minglan herself would have avoided going near the restroom.
"You're still waiting out here?" Wan Qian stepped out and caught sight of Zhang Minglan standing by the door, momentarily surprised.
Hearing Wan Qian's voice, Zhang Minglan shook off her anxious mood.
"Are... are you alright?"
Zhang Minglan couldn't understand why Wan Qian had volunteered to enter the restroom—perhaps it was out of confidence in her own abilities?
Even so, she couldn't suppress her worry. After all, that thing was something even the principal couldn't drive out of the school—only periodic sacrifices of students could placate it. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"It's fine—the problem inside isn't too serious." Wan Qian thought privately, So you also know the restroom's old and falling apart.
Hearing Wan Qian speak so nonchalantly, Zhang Minglan's eyes widened in shock.
Could it be that thing inside was nothing more than a trivial matter for Wan Qian?
Zhang Minglan's eyes swept over her. Wan Qian was still wearing the same business suit she'd had on when she arrived. After clashing with that thing, not even her collar bore a crease. She stood immaculate, tidy, and elegant.
Zhang Minglan couldn't help but feel a deep sense of awe. Her estimation of Wan Qian's strength had just been elevated once more. It was no wonder that this Ms. Wan could become the owner of Dark Farm.
Thinking this, a smile returned to Zhang Minglan's face.
"As long as you're alright."
Wan Qian gave a light "Mm." Then she added, "But your restroom must be badly in need of renovation. It's just too bare-bones. Once I leave, you ought to have it refurbished."
Then Wan Qian thought again: this school was so inclusive and devoted to nurturing every student—it was obvious how much care they put into them.
The classrooms were all spacious, bright, and spotless, yet the toilets in the teachers' office building were still leaking. Most likely, the limited funds had all been spent on the students' education.
That just won't do. She couldn't help advising, "There's an old saying—'No matter how poor, don't starve the children; no matter how hard, don't skimp on education.' It's true, but teachers shouldn't be neglected either. After all, you are the very foundation of education. With you here, the school can raise excellent students."
Huh? Perplexity flickered over Zhang Minglan's face.
What did Ms. Wan mean by that? Renovate the restroom? Didn't she know what horror dwelled within? No—she had gone inside. Of course she knew. So, then...
Still pondering, she escorted Wan Qian back to the conference room.
Once Wan Qian was settled, Zhang Minglan left and returned to her own office.
There, Yang Fan and He Fei were waiting. They'd only just escaped with their lives, still gasping for breath.
Seeing Zhang Minglan enter alone—without the terrifying "Ms. Wan" trailing after—Yang Fan quietly let out a breath of relief.
Among the school rules, one of the rules states that corporal punishment is not encouraged.
Therefore, the punishments teachers usually gave students were just a few types: writing self-criticisms, copying books, or standing against the wall.
And Yang Fan had ways to deal with all of them.
Zhang Minglan looked at He Fei and Yang Fan, still preoccupied with what Wan Qian had just said. Her brows were tightly furrowed and hadn't relaxed for a moment.
"You two... Since the classroom hygiene wasn't up to standard, go clean the restroom as punishment."
Yang Fan froze. A chill of dread surged in his chest.
