Chapter 63: Skill Testing

With time, the rest of the group woke up as well. And after hearing about me reaching the automated stage already, they all went bonkers.

Jaq complained about unfairness and that I was cheating, while Katie was surprised to say the least, looking at me with a hawk’s eye.

I could feel her judgemental gaze without even looking at her, and thus, I chose to ignore her.

But unlike the two, Claire was simply looking at me with a tiny smirk.

Of course, she knew about my stats and had already guessed that I would do well.

That was one of the reasons she even offered it to me, but I wonder if she had guessed I was already at the controlled tier.

Her friends were quite vocal about the fairness and stuff, but after spending another half an hour at the apartment, they expressed their desire to leave.

Some had work, and some left out of politeness.

They had tried their hardest to grill me about the secret, but I just smiled and said it was all Claire. Ask her.

In the end, only Claire, me and Eva were left in the apartment.

"So..." Eva stretched her arms, her plump, huge breasts pressing against her clothes invitingly, "When are you going to tell me?" she smirked.

"Never." Claire scoffed, "It’s a secret, shoo."

Eva narrowed her eyes, "I will never heal you again if you don’t tell me."

"I have potions."

"I will never lend you money or even come to you if your car breaks down."

"I just got it serviced, it won’t break down anymore. And for money, meh, we are at a similar economic standing."

"..."

Eva gazed at Claire with a slight judgemental eye, pain glinting in her eyes as if she was just betrayed.

She sniffled, wiping her eyes dramatically, "I see how it is. I thought I was like your sister, but no. One guy. One guy and you don’t hesitate to hide shit from me."

Claire stared at her blankly, her expression flat and unamused, "He has higher magic than normal males. That’s all I will tell you."

I wasn’t surprised that Claire had shared it with Eva. I would’ve been more surprised if she actually didn’t say anything.

They were quite close, and although I was still on edge about trusting Eva, she doesn’t strike me as someone who might betray us.

"How high are we talking about?" Eva asked as our eyes met, she was looking at me with pure curiosity and excitement, feeling surprised and a little... happy?

"High enough." Claire shut her off, "But talking about that... he asked something. He wants to come on the mission with us."

Eva blinked, "What?"

"Exactly what you heard."

Eva flickered her gaze between me and Claire, looking at us alternatively, "For real? It’s dangerous–"

"Eva, my skill will be great for hunting. It’s a kind of utility skill that you cannot find elsewhere, and except for the undeads, it will prove effective on any monster." I had done my research already.

My skill was indeed too good to be simply disregarded.

It was an op skill, just not properly utilized since it wasn’t a usual scenario where a man with the class ’boy toy’ was volunteering to go labyrinth hunting and deadly missions.

"What’s the range of your skill? Does it activate by physical touch or can you activate from a distance?" Eva shot back, her eyes narrowing.

"It can activate at a distance, though range... I never measured, and as you know, this is a magic stat dependent skill, there is no fixed range."

"Then try it right now." Eva said simply.

"On you?" I smirked in response, imagining a scene of this busty healer babe screaming from the skill’s sensitivity.

But I quickly wiped off the imagination and refocused back onto her.

"Why me? Do it on Claire." Eva shook her head.

Maybe I imagined it, but I could see her fluster a little when I mentioned it.

"I can’t. It increases her pain due to wounds." I said, gesturing at Claire who nodded simply.

"Yes. No way."

"Fine..." Eva mumbled softly, acting as if she didn’t care much about it but she was visibly embarrassed.

"Okay. I will go the furthest I can, and walk closer till the skill activates." I shrugged, also pretending that I didn’t see her odd yet cute reaction.

I had some theories of my own about it, but I didn’t know any of them too well to judge properly.

Thus, I kept the theories to myself and got off the bed, walking away from it until it was barely in my line of sight.

Judging by the looks, I was at least 10-15 meters away from her.

"Reverse Senses." I intoned softly. It wasn’t a needed thing to say it out loud, but it helped in focusing on the mana and giving it a clear order.

The mana churned within my blood, glowing in a slight blue light. Though that was probably my imagination as that’s how I pictured mana when it activated.

Glowing in a blue light for a brief moment before dimming out and continuing swimming around my veins.

"Heuk–" Eva shrieked loudly as my body’s sensitivity began to dip down.

Clearly, the skill worked despite the distance between us.

And as if to prove the necessity of such a skill, Claire tossed an empty cigarette box at Eva’s head.

It arched in the air, swooshing as it hit Eva directly on the head, making her shriek out.

"Well, I guess it works." I shouted from the side, grinning widely as I went closer to them as soon as possible.

Eva had slipped off the bed due to her scare and sudden stimuli, and now she was yelling and cursing even louder.

I could feel the pain and frustration in her voice, which was completely valid.

But I didn’t care about any of that.

I went to her, offering a hand.

She grabbed it, blushing slightly the moment our skins connected.

But to make the touch even more memorable, I grasped it tightly, utilizing my now boosted stats to instantly swoon her off the feet.

Intentionally, I used more force than necessary as Eva lost her balance after standing up, stumbling before colliding against my chest.

Her breasts pressed against my chest, then her head.

My only regret was that my sensitivity was too low to feel such a sensation properly, but I felt secure after seeing her reaction.

It was totally worth it.
