My Scheming Little Devil-Chapter 2007 - 2008: It’s Over
"Yiyi, stop being naive. They might not dare to do anything to you openly, but won’t they find ways in secret? Politics is all dark; adhering to laws and whatnot. If they really want to torment you, they have plenty of means. You have no way to resist and are powerless."
Jun Yiyi naturally knew this. She had experienced the brutal interrogation methods of the Aus Empire’s intelligence department firsthand, and just how cruel and painful those methods could be.
Even thinking about it now would make her face turn pale and her whole body tremble.
But it still didn’t shake her determination.
It wasn’t just for Madam Aisha—this was also for herself.
To go home.
If she left here, she was afraid she would never find the chance to go home again.
So, no matter how dangerous, no matter how painful, she didn’t want to give up. There had never been a goal that made her desperately willing to pay any price to achieve it.
Thus, she decided to stay, determined to advance bravely through the difficult darkness and get into the Imperial College!
This was her only goal!
"Wubai, thank you for your concern. Since I dare to stay, I naturally know the cost. But I would rather take this risk and am determined to do this. I will not leave." Her tone was incredibly firm as she finally sighed with relief in her heart.
She had been torn about whether to leave, and now everything was settled. Although it would be very dangerous and troublesome in the future, she was instead happy.
This was her true choice.
Despite being afraid of trouble and death, the goal she wanted to strive for made her feel passionate and excited from the bottom of her heart. In a chaotic world and under life-threatening crisis, desperately holding onto her dream felt so cool and awesome!
Wubai frowned heavily, feeling utterly helpless. "Is that goal really that important? Important enough that you might even trade your life for it, and you’re not afraid? Yiyi, I’m not trying to scare you, but things are far more serious than you imagine."
"And you say you’re not trying to scare me. You’re really scaring me with what you just said." Jun Yiyi gave a mischievous smile, but her eyes remained unwaveringly steadfast. She gently replied, "It’s really very important. Even someone like me, who’s afraid of death, has things that must be insisted on."
...
After Jun Yiyi hung up the phone, she sat on the sofa for a while, then took a deep breath and returned to her usual mood to place her packed luggage back.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t really afraid of death. She didn’t know what would happen in the future, but she could roughly guess the worst situation.
But since things had already come to this, being afraid was of no use, so she simply decided not to think about it at all. In doing so, she felt better.
Then she took a bath, climbed into bed, and had a good sleep.
She would deal with anything when the sky fell, taking it one step at a time as things happened!
The next morning, the sky was clear and blue, washed clean by the heavens—a perfect sunny day, ideal for a festival celebration.
Jun Yiyi changed into neat clothes, planning to enjoy herself at the celebration. She wanted to seize the chance while she could still enjoy herself, fearing that such carefree days wouldn’t last long.
She intended to indulge in all she wanted to eat and play with.
When she went downstairs, as she expected, Madam Aisha had returned safely.
"I’m sorry, last night the Councilman’s wife suddenly invited me to visit and help urgently prepare for some charity activities. I left in such a hurry that I didn’t leave a message. Later the Councilman’s wife said she sent someone to inform you, so I shouldn’t worry and stay overnight to help her. I couldn’t come back," Madam Aisha said apologetically.
