My Scumbag System-Chapter 418: My Beautiful, Terrible Lie
The blue interface materialized in the air between us, solid enough that I could see the light reflected in five pairs of widening eyes.

Celeste went rigid on my lap. "What... is that?"
"My cheat code," I said. "Welcome to the cosmic joke."
Skylar leaned forward, eyes narrowed at the glowing display. "You’re telling me this has been real the whole time? When you manifested that fire ability out of nowhere?"
"There was no late manifestation. I just pulled it from a slot machine run by a god who thinks he’s a game show host."
Emi’s mouth opened and closed. "But... but how?"
I pulled up the next tab, watching their faces as new information filled the space.
ENSEMBLE
1. Natalia Kuzmina [Rank 10: Covenant]
2. Emi Aoyama [Rank 5: Dependent]
3. Skylar Amane [Rank 5: Dependent]
4. Pan Soomin [Rank 3: Confidante]
5. Isabelle Okoye [Rank 1: Acquaintance]
6. Celeste Vance [Rank 3: Confidante]
The silence that followed had weight to it, the kind that pressed down on your chest and made breathing difficult.
Natalia spoke first, her voice dangerously quiet. "What does Covenant mean?"
I met her eyes. "Remember when I told you about the Sovereign’s thing? How I needed exceptional women to build power?"
Her jaw tightened. "Yes."
"That was half true. The System really does tie my power to bonds with people. The ranks measure how connected we are, how much you trust me, how much I’ve invested in you." I paused. "But I didn’t create it. I’m just the poor bastard who got stuck with it."
Celeste shifted on my lap, her periwinkle eyes fixed on her own name. "Rank 3 means what, exactly?"
"Confidante. It means you trust me enough to watch my back, and I’ve proven I’ll watch yours."
"And Rank 10?"
I looked at Natalia, whose white streaks were beginning to glow. "Everything. It means souls bound together in ways that don’t break."
Emi’s voice cracked. "Dependent. That sounds... bad."
"It’s not bad, it’s just honest." I ran a hand through my hair. "When we’re together, when I touch you, when we kiss, there’s something happening beyond normal attraction. The System enhances it, amplifies it, makes it more intense than it should be."
Skylar’s laugh was sharp. "So you’ve been drugging us with magic dick?"
"Pretty much."
"Fuck."
Akari stood up and walked closer to the interface, her eyes scanning the information with a predator’s focus. "This isn’t possible. Game mechanics don’t exist in real life."
"Tell that to the gods who are apparently watching my life like it’s their favorite streaming service." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Natalia’s hand found mine, squeezing hard enough to hurt. "When did this start?"
"Two months ago. I woke up in your stepbrother’s body with a cosmic voice in my head telling me I was entertainment now." I looked at each of them in turn. "That original Satori you knew? The one you hated? He’s gone. I’m someone else wearing his face."
Natalia’s eyes closed for a long moment. When they opened, understanding filled them. "That’s why you changed overnight."
"That’s why everything changed."
Celeste’s breathing had quickened against my chest. I could feel her heartbeat through the thin material of her nightdress. "You said bonds. What kind of bonds?"
I pulled up her profile with a gesture. Her stats appeared, visible to everyone now.
CELESTE VANCE
Bond Rank: 3 [Confidante]
Imbuement Slots: 1 [Bronze/Silver]
Daily SP Generation: None
"At Rank 3, I can reach into my arsenal and permanently enhance one of your existing abilities," I said, my voice steady and clinical, like I was explaining a balance sheet rather than the architecture of my own manipulation. "A direct imbuement. Something from the Gacha, gifted to you. At Rank 5, the bond deepens past the point of simple utility. You start generating Schema Points for me passively, every single day, just by existing in my orbit." I let that land. "At Rank 7, we unlock something the System calls a Duet Ability. A power neither of us can access alone."
"And Rank 10?" Emi’s voice was barely audible.
"Our souls become permanently linked," Natalia finished for me, her tone quiet and final, the way you’d describe a scar. "Irrevocably. Like mine is to his."
The silence that followed had a physical weight to it. Emi’s hands were trembling in her lap, fingers laced together so tightly her knuckles had gone pale. "You said every touch is enhanced. Every kiss, every moment we’ve spent close to you." Her reddish-brown eyes lifted to mine. "For how long has that been true?"
I had to tell her. That’s what Impossible Mode meant.
"Since our first training session. Every time I’ve kissed you, every time we’ve been together, there’s been this thing called Nectar flowing between us. It makes everything feel better than it should. More intense. More addictive."
"Addictive," Emi repeated, her voice small.
"You crave it when you’re not around me, right? Thoughts that shouldn’t be there, feelings that came on too fast?"
She nodded slowly, tears gathering at the corners of her eyes.
Skylar stood up abruptly, crossing to the window. "How much of what I feel is real versus your cosmic roofie?"
"I don’t know." The honesty tasted like blood. "That’s the problem. The System doesn’t come with an instruction manual on where enhancement ends and genuine feeling begins."
Natalia’s grip tightened. "But you knew. This whole time, you knew what you were doing to us."
"Yes."
"And you did it anyway."
"Yes."
The Cryo-Lich Ring on her finger pulsed with cold light. Frost spread across my arm from where she touched me, but I didn’t pull away. I deserved worse.
Akari was the only one who looked amused. "This is insane. You’re telling me that you’ve been operating under JRPG romance mechanics and just now decided to mention it?"
"I convinced the system that it was the right time to tell you guys so they gave me a quest." I pulled up Aphrodite’s notification, making it visible. "If I don’t explain everything tonight and somehow convince all of you to stay anyway, I lose everything."
Celeste read the quest parameters, her eyes going wide. "These are the failure penalties?"
"All my bonds drop two ranks. Natalia goes from Covenant to Subjugated, which I’m guessing means our connection breaks in ways that hurt. Emi and Skylar drop to Confidante, losing the intensity that makes them..." I trailed off.
"That makes us what?" Skylar’s voice came from the window, dangerous and quiet.
"That makes you look at me like I matter."
