My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 77: Pre - Match from Spectators View
Not long after, an alarm blared. All the lights inside the arena went out, and spotlights shone down on the center stage. From the right side, the team consisting of Ivan, Sasha, Brad, Hyunjin, Minji, and Akira emerged, carrying their respective weapons and wearing matching protective gear branded with their school’s name.
Naturally, Dennis, Daisy, and the others stood up to see their school’s team. Ivan turned toward the spectator seats and raised his fist, while Sasha, Minji, and Akira waved at their friends in the crowd. Brad also turned and nodded; they all watched as Elisa nodded back at him.
Of course, Dennis, Gary, and Jason raised their fists in encouragement, while Daisy, Olivia, and Kimberly rushed to the front. "Crush them, Sasha, Minji! You promised!" the three of them shouted back and forth to cheer them on. Then, from the left side, Rachel emerged in the lead, followed by Brigitte, Natasha, Sofia, Margaret, and finally Harumi, who was wearing an outfit that covered her completely.
Immediately, cheers erupted from the right wing. Dennis and the others turned to see a massive crowd of female students dressed in all-white uniforms, carrying banners and their own weapons, cheering for their school’s core team with an intensity that suggested they had arrived unnoticed, suddenly making the arena feel crowded and filled with the name of their school.
"Wow... is the whole school watching or what?" Gary asked.
"Who knows... we’re clearly outnumbered in noise; our school only has eight people supporting them," Jason added.
"Insane... their supporters brought the whole village," Kimberly said.
"It’s too much... their screaming is seriously annoying," Olivia added furiously.
"Just let it be. Ivan and the others look pretty calm; don’t let the cheers get to you guys," Dennis said, keeping his eyes on his school’s team.
"Grr," Dennis turned to his side and looked at his wife because he heard a soft growling sound next to him. Daisy, who had seemed calm, now looked angry and bothered as she stared toward the mob of female students from Willow School who were screaming loudly for their team.
"Whoaah... she looks seriously pissed," Dennis muttered in his heart when he saw his wife. "Um... what is it, honey?" Dennis asked softly.
"Honey, can I just burn them all?" Daisy asked with a cold voice, and seven different voices could be heard speaking at once.
"Whoaah... don’t, honey, relax... just relax," Dennis answered, trying to calm his wife down.
Luckily for Dennis, "tap... tap... tap," the sound of a microphone being tapped rang out, and the atmosphere in the arena went silent immediately. Dennis breathed a sigh of relief seeing Daisy’s face return to a calm expression. Then, the voice of a hunter guild staff member was heard, inviting both teams to step forward and stand facing the deck above. Ivan’s team and Rachel’s team from Willow were seen stepping forward, standing side by side and looking upward.
After that, a woman’s voice explained the rules of the joint training, along with a lesson about a rank-A crawler called the Chimaera Beetle, whose photo and statistics were displayed. The monster had a body like a large container truck-sized rhinoceros beetle, but it possessed a scorpion’s tail and a large mosquito head on top with a long needle that looked incredibly sharp; the rhinoceros beetle head and its pincers were stacked with the mosquito head, and it had dragonfly wings on its sides so it could fly. Each team was given a thirty-minute countdown to defeat the enemy.
When everything was clear, the two teams flipped a coin to decide who would go first in the first stage. Ivan’s team got the first turn, and the time they took to defeat the monster would be recorded, as that was how they were being judged. After that, both teams were asked to return to their respective corners, and the first stage would begin in five minutes. Then the screen displayed a five-minute countdown. Dennis could see Ivan’s team discussing and seemingly organizing a strategy to face the first stage—fighting the Chimaera Beetle—since they were up first.
"I hope they manage to take down that crawler. Looking at the photo and its stats, that thing is pretty terrifying," Jason muttered.
"Yeah, true, but I’m sure we could beat that monster," Gary replied.
"Right, easily... that monster can only charge, attack with its tail, and shoot a liquid from its mosquito-head needle that turns you to stone instantly; that stuff can be avoided easily," Olivia said confidently.
"But the stats say its hide is incredibly tough and it can fly, right?" Kimberly asked.
"True, but if we take out the wings first, it won’t be able to do anything except charge," Dennis answered, studying the image of the monster still displayed on the screen.
"I’m sure Ivan, Sasha, Hyunjin, Minji, Brad, and Akira can handle it," Daisy said, looking like she was praying because her hands were clasped at her chest, but her eyes remained sharp.
"Exactly, Brad can definitely handle it," Elisa suddenly chimed in.
Immediately, Dennis, Daisy, Gary, Olivia, Jason, Kimberly, and even Rika turned to look at Elisa, who was standing and looking down with a proud gaze; naturally, her eyes were fixed on Brad, who was currently folding his arms across his chest while listening to Ivan’s explanation. Seeing Elisa looking so enthusiastic, everyone else stood up right away.
"Ivan, hit ’em hard, don’t take all day!" Gary shouted.
"Finish it fast and get to the third stage!" Olivia added, screaming.
"Hey Brad, you better not lose, man!" Dennis shouted seriously.
"I’m giving you three minutes; you better have that enemy crushed by then!" Daisy yelled.
"Let’s go... Ivan, Sasha, Brad, Hyunjin, Minji, Akira... don’t take forever to beat them!" Jason shouted in encouragement.
"Just go for it, forget the strategy, you guys can do it, you’re strong!" Kimberly yelled.
Hearing the cheers from above, Ivan, Sasha, Brad, Hyunjin, Minji, and Akira turned to see their juniors standing there, along with Rika and Elisa. They smiled and raised their hands together, thrusting their fists into the air. Dennis glanced over at the opposing team’s corner and saw the six girls from the Willow core team looking at them; suddenly, Natasha waved at him while smiling, causing Dennis to look away immediately.
But Daisy, seeing Natasha wave her hand, instantly flipped Natasha the bird and stuck out her tongue. Natasha went right back to talking to her team, ignoring Daisy.
"Grr... I can kill her, right, honey... please say yes, please," Daisy muttered furiously with a smile, though it was crystal clear she was so angry her smile was actually trembling.
"Take it easy... just relax... let’s leave it to Ivan and the others, okay? Calm down. Besides, I’m not affected by her at all, I swear," Dennis said, trying to soothe his wife.
Suddenly, Dennis felt a sharp gaze directed at him. He looked toward the left wing and saw the hunters who were watching; they were pointing in their direction, and it seemed they recognized not just him, but his whole team. The hunters whispered to one another, and when they realized Dennis was looking at them, they immediately nodded their heads and smiled to greet him. Dennis nodded back.
Then, from a distance on the right, Dennis saw the Red Wind varsity team watching them without saying a word, while the massive crowd of Willow supporters looked like they straight-up wanted to murder Dennis, Daisy, Gary, Olivia, Jason, and Kimberly. On top of that, the varsity teams from other schools across the Emerald City districts were also staring them down.
Their presence was instantly noticed by everyone in the arena’s spectator seats, shifting the atmosphere into a silence that felt suffocating because the audience was no longer focused on the two teams in the arena, but rather on them. Gary, Olivia, Dennis, Daisy, Jason, and Kimberly immediately sat down and stayed quiet, saying nothing as they tried to ignore the many eyes watching them.
"I guess we’re famous?" Olivia asked.
"Ugh... it’s definitely because of the footage from that fight on the train tracks," Gary replied, shaking his head and rubbing his forehead.
"Yep, looks like it. This really sucks; I’m totally not used to people staring at me like this," Dennis said softly.
"Same here, man. You think I’m used to it?" Jason added.
"Whatever, just ignore them," Kimberly added.
"Hey! Why are you all looking at us!"
Dennis, Gary, Olivia, Jason, and Kimberly turned to look at Daisy, who had shouted so loudly that her voice echoed throughout the arena; they were naturally shocked because it wasn’t like Daisy to scream like that. Dennis was startled to see Daisy’s eyes were yellow, even though she still looked like Daisy number one. He immediately pulled her down to make her sit.
"Good grief... why are you shouting, Number Six?" Dennis asked.
"It’s annoying being stared at like that. If there’s something they want to say, they should just say it. If they want to rumble, let’s rumble; there’s no need for all the staring," Daisy Number Six answered.
"Good lord, please don’t make things worse. Calm down and please switch back to Primary," Dennis said.
"Okay baby, sorry," Daisy Number Six replied.
Daisy Number Six immediately swapped back to Daisy number one, but her face still looked furious, and it was obvious she was trying to hold back her rage. Dennis just wrapped his arm around her and stroked her cheek to calm her down. Finally, the five-minute discussion time was up. An alarm blared, the entire room went pitch black, and the simulation display instantly appeared on the glass in front of them.
