My Three Beautiful Vampire Wives can hear my Inner Thoughts-Chapter 138: Chaos in the Nightmare Realm
The wind above the broken land carried a strong smell of iron and ash.
The Devouring Blood Tree continued to grow slowly, its branches stretching wider across the dark sky. Feathers, fur, and strands of hair moved like leaves in the cold wind. The trapped bodies fused into the bark no longer struggled much.
Their strength was draining away, feeding the tree that now stood like a monument of flesh and bone.
Cain sat quietly on one of the highest branches.
His red eyes looked toward the distant horizon.
Something was coming.
He could feel it.
Not one creature.
Not two.
Many.
A deep rumbling sound began to spread across the ground.
At first it sounded like rolling thunder far away, but soon the earth began to tremble with stronger force. Dust rose in long clouds across the wasteland.
Then shapes appeared.
Large.
Tall.
Covered in burning red scales.
A group of creatures marched toward the tree with loud footsteps that shook the ground.
They looked like humanoid lizards, but their bodies burned with faint flames that leaked through the cracks between their scales. Their heads were shaped like dragon skulls with sharp teeth that stuck out even when their mouths were closed. Long tails dragged across the ground behind them, leaving burning marks on the dark soil.
Their eyes glowed like small fires.
Each one carried a weapon made from black stone or molten metal.
One of them stepped forward and lifted his massive spear.
His voice sounded like two rocks grinding together.
"There."
He pointed directly at the towering blood tree.
"That is the source."
Another Fire Lizard warrior let out a deep growl.
"I can feel the life energy inside it."
A third one stared upward.
"And someone is sitting on top of it."
Their glowing eyes focused on Cain.
One of them laughed loudly.
"A vampire?"
Another one spat flames from his mouth.
"A foolish one."
The leader raised his weapon.
"Destroy the tree."
The group roared together.
Then they charged.
Their footsteps thundered across the land as they rushed forward like a wave of burning stone.
Cain watched them calmly.
He leaned slightly against the trunk of the Devouring Blood Tree while the wind brushed against his hair.
"More food."
His voice sounded almost bored.
The Fire Lizard warriors reached the outer roots of the tree.
"BURN IT!"
One of them swung a massive flaming hammer directly into the twisted bark.
BOOM!
Fire exploded outward.
But the tree did not burn.
The flames crawled across the surface of the bark like tiny insects before fading away.
The warrior blinked in confusion.
"What?"
Another Fire Lizard jumped forward and slashed the trunk with a molten blade.
CLANG!
The blade struck the bark and sparks flew in every direction.
But the weapon did not cut through.
"What kind of wood is this?"
A third warrior roared in anger.
"Attack together!"
Suddenly the ground moved.
Several blood red tentacles burst out from the soil around their feet.
The Fire Lizards reacted quickly.
Their bodies twisted with strong speed as they dodged the incoming attacks.
One warrior leaped into the air while laughing.
"You think slow attacks like that can catch us?"
Another swung his flaming spear and cut one tentacle in half.
"Hah! Pathetic!"
More tentacles attacked them.
Some struck the ground.
Some sliced through empty air.
The Fire Lizard warriors laughed loudly as they jumped and spun around the attacks.
"Is that all?"
Their leader grinned.
"You defend your tree like a coward hiding behind vines."
Cain sighed softly from above.
"You talk too much."
The tentacles stopped moving for a moment.
The Fire Lizards smirked.
"Did it break?"
But suddenly the severed tentacle pieces moved again.
From each cut surface, new thinner tentacles burst outward like spreading branches.
They shot toward the warriors from different directions.
One Fire Lizard widened his eyes.
"What the—"
A tentacle wrapped around his leg.
He roared in anger and tried to pull free.
The muscle in his arms bulged as he struggled.
But the tentacle tightened like iron chains.
Another tentacle wrapped around his other leg.
Then another around his waist.
"GET IT OFF!"
His comrades rushed toward him.
"CUT IT!"
Two warriors attacked the tentacle with burning blades.
Their weapons struck again and again.
CLANG!
CLANG!
The blood tentacle did not break.
Instead it tightened further.
The trapped warrior screamed as he was dragged toward the ground.
"HELP ME!"
The soil opened.
The tentacle pulled him down like a snake dragging prey into its hole.
His scream vanished beneath the earth.
The Fire Lizards froze for a moment.
Then rage exploded across their faces.
"YOU—!"
They attacked wildly.
Flames roared from their mouths.
Weapons slammed against the roots.
But the more they fought, the more tentacles rose from the ground. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
One by one they were caught.
Some were dragged down while screaming.
Some had their bodies wrapped so tightly that their bones cracked loudly before they vanished beneath the soil.
The battlefield filled with roars of anger and pain.
Then silence slowly returned.
The fallen bodies began to sink into the dark soil.
Their blood flowed into the ground like streams of red water.
Underneath the surface, the roots of the Devouring Blood Tree moved like hungry serpents.
They wrapped around the corpses.
The roots pierced through scales and flesh.
They drank everything.
Slowly the tree trembled.
The trunk grew thicker.
The branches spread wider.
New shapes began forming within the bark.
One of the Fire Lizard bodies slowly merged with the tree.
Its head remained visible on the trunk.
Its mouth opened in a silent scream while flames flickered weakly inside its throat.
Cain glanced down.
"Good."
But before the battlefield could grow quiet again, another rumbling sound came from the distance.
More Fire Lizards.
Another group arrived.
They stopped when they saw the battlefield.
One warrior stared at the tree.
"Where are the others?"
Another sniffed the air.
"There is blood everywhere."
The ground suddenly trembled again.
Tentacles shot upward.
The second group roared and charged forward.
The battle began again.
Weapons clashed against the writhing blood limbs.
Fire burned across the battlefield.
Several Fire Lizards managed to destroy some tentacles.
They pushed closer to the tree.
One warrior even climbed onto the roots and began hacking at the trunk.
But soon the same trap closed around them.
Tentacles that seemed to miss suddenly split open.
More limbs burst outward.
The warriors were caught one after another.
The air filled with furious screams.
Soon they too vanished beneath the soil.
The Devouring Blood Tree absorbed them slowly.
Its branches stretched higher.
Its bark grew darker.
The bodies trapped within it multiplied.
The tree now looked like a massive tower made from twisted creatures.
...
Not far away, an old figure stood on a rocky hill.
His ears were long.
White fur covered his thin face.
His eyes were old and wise.
The Rabbit elder watched everything in silence.
Behind him several younger rabbit warriors stood nervously.
The old rabbit slowly stroked his beard.
His eyes stayed fixed on Cain.
He could feel the power around that tree.
It was not overwhelming.
In fact, from this distance, Cain’s aura felt weak.
Very weak.
The old rabbit whispered quietly to himself.
"That thing... his energy is low."
His students looked confused.
One of them spoke carefully.
"Master... if he is weak, why do we not attack?"
The old rabbit remained silent for a long moment.
Then he sighed.
"You do not understand."
He closed his eyes briefly.
"I far ascended Nascent Mana Soul realm or Duke level powerhouse."
The young rabbits straightened their backs.
He continued calmly.
"I far surpassed Mid Stage Mana Soul realm or Prince Powerhouse."
His voice became quieter.
"I far ascended peak Nascent Mana Soul or a King Powerhouse."
The younger rabbits swallowed nervously.
"I far ascended Initial Stage of Mana Soul Transformation or an Emperor Powerhouse."
The wind blew across the hill.
"And I stand now in the peak stage of Mana Soul Transformation."
His students looked at him with awe.
"But..."
The old rabbit opened his eyes again.
"...for the first time in many years, I hesitate."
His danger sense screamed loudly inside his mind.
Something about the human and that tree felt wrong.
Very wrong.
...
Not far from them, a group of Naga warriors watched the battlefield.
Their lower bodies were long serpent tails that coiled across the ground.
Their upper bodies looked human with green scales covering their arms and necks.
One Naga warrior narrowed his eyes.
"That old rabbit is strong."
Another nodded.
"I can feel his mana."
"But he does nothing."
Their leader crossed his arms.
"Perhaps he is sensing something that even he was hesitant to take action yet."
Then suddenly—
Loud footsteps echoed across the battlefield.
A group of massive figures rushed toward the tree.
Half bear.
Half human.
Their bodies were enormous with thick muscles that looked like moving stone. Their fur was dark brown and their claws were as long as daggers.
One of them roared loudly.
"DESTROY IT!"
At the front of the group ran a towering warrior.
His aura exploded outward like a storm.
He was an Emperor powerhouse.
The ground cracked beneath his feet as he charged forward.
High above on the tree, Cain slowly stood up.
The wind brushed against his coat.
Then something changed.
His body moved.
Blood gathered behind his back.
Two massive wings formed from flowing crimson liquid.
They spread wide across the sky.
The bear warriors froze for a moment.
"What is that—"
Then Cain jumped.
He shot downward like a falling comet.
The bear leader roared and raised his giant axe.
Their weapons collided in mid air.
BOOM!
The impact exploded across the battlefield.
The bear leader skidded backward several steps.
Cain landed lightly on the ground.
The bear warrior grinned.
"So you finally came down."
Cain looked at him calmly.
"You seem stronger than the others..."
The bear leader laughed loudly.
"Of course I am!"
He raised his axe again.
"I am the king of my tribe!"
Their battle erupted.
The bear warrior swung his axe with terrifying strength.
Cain dodged and countered with blood blades that formed around his arms.
Each clash sent shockwaves through the ground.
They fought again and again.
Punches.
Slashes.
Explosions of blood and fur.
From a distance it looked like they were evenly matched.
The Naga warriors watched carefully.
One of them smiled.
"That creature with blood wings is not so dangerous."
Another nodded.
"Yes. The bear king is handling him easily."
But their leader frowned.
He slowly turned his head toward the distant hill.
The old rabbit still stood there.
He had not moved.
His eyes remained fixed on Cain.
And for a brief moment the Naga leader felt something strange.
The old rabbit’s expression looked almost like fear.
