My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 253 - 247: Law of the Jungle, Survival of the Fittest
The next delivery contained only half the usual amount of food. Aurora Sinclair pursed her lips and glanced at the security camera on the ceiling.
Still, she divided the food into seven equal portions, giving one to each person.
With each delivery, the food dwindled. Finally, the stronger girls couldn’t take it anymore and began loudly accusing her of meddling.
Ignoring Aurora Sinclair’s intimidating martial prowess, they fought desperately to snatch the food from her hands.
Aurora Sinclair had used her Power to suppress them several times, but it was no use. The girls only grew more frenzied.
They even blocked her from getting near the door. The stronger girls guarded the entrance tenaciously.
When the food was pushed in again, they reverted to the law of the jungle: survival of the fittest.
Aurora Sinclair looked up at the security camera, her gaze turning glacial.
Behind the monitor, a man’s lips curled into a cruel smile, as if mocking this fool for fighting against her fate.
Suddenly, the screen in front of him went black, dissolving into white static.
His smile froze on his face, quickly replaced by a towering rage that filled his eyes.
"Bring her to me—"

「Meanwhile.」
The girls scrambling for food stared blankly at the person who had just leaped up and shattered the security camera with a single punch.
"Everyone, stop."
The hand of a stronger girl, clutching a ball of rice, began to tremble. She found herself unable to move.
"The Shadow is lying to you. They’re going to turn the strongest among us into assassins."
Her voice laced with an unreadable emotion, Aurora Sinclair slowly walked over, took some of the rice from the stronger girl’s hand, and gave it to a girl nearby who hadn’t gotten any food.
The weaker girls rushed forward to eat, cramming the food into their mouths as quickly as they could.
When she could move again, the stronger girl’s eyes blazed with immense hatred. She roared at Aurora Sinclair, "So what? At least I’ll get to live!"
Aurora Sinclair froze.
The girl’s expression suddenly twisted into a vicious sneer. She let out a piercing laugh. "You’re about to die... Hahaha..."
As she laughed, the door to the compartment swung open.
Two figures in hazmat suits entered, heading straight for Aurora Sinclair.
The stronger girls immediately lunged forward, pinning Aurora Sinclair’s arms to her sides and calling out to the two newcomers to curry favor.
"Sirs, she knows martial arts! She’s dangerous..."
The two men pinned Aurora Sinclair down and injected her with a drug.
The liquid entered her body, cool and icy.
Aurora Sinclair could feel a faint energy emanating from the drug. It seeped into her meridians, trying to suppress her Power and force it back into her Dantian.
The Strength in her body grew increasingly placid.
Then, the two men dragged her out of the compartment and into a hallway.
Along the way, she saw Alvin Morgan standing inside one of the compartments, watching her. She winked at him.
Alvin Morgan pointed to his wrist, and Aurora Sinclair understood instantly.
These people seemed so confident that no one could escape that they hadn’t bothered to search them upon arrival. As a result, both she and Alvin still had their watches on.
The two men took Aurora Sinclair to an internal elevator, pushing her head down to keep her from looking around.
The elevator ascended, reaching its floor a moment later.
The environment here was much better than the one below.
The hallway was still lined with compartments made of reinforced glass. Inside, numerous people in hazmat suits were watching the monitor screens mounted on the walls.
No one paid any attention to their arrival. Even those who did see them merely shot them a glance before turning back to the screens.
At the end of the corridor was a heavy, sealed iron door. One of the men scanned his retina and face, and a mechanical voice announced, "Verification successful. Please enter."
Inside the door was another corridor, this time with solid walls on both sides.
The farther in they went, the lower the temperature dropped. There was also a faint, strange, fishy stench, like rotting meat, that was nauseating.
Aurora Sinclair held her breath as she was led to the front of a room.
The door opened automatically.
The lights were off inside. The only illumination came from the numerous monitor screens that covered the walls.
A wave of humid air washed over her; the temperature inside was hot and damp.
Next to a control console was a leather swivel chair.
Someone was sitting in it, a cigarette held between their fingers, its red ember glowing intermittently in the gloom.
"Lord Serpent, we’ve brought the person," one of the men said respectfully, shoving Aurora Sinclair into the room.
The person in the chair didn’t turn around. He flicked the ash from his cigarette and continued typing on a keyboard with his other hand.
The monitor in front of him kept switching between feeds, as if he were looking for something interesting.
He would pause whenever he found a scene with people fighting, watching it with rapt attention.
"Who do you think will win between these two?"
Suddenly, a soft, sinister male voice came from the direction of the swivel chair. It was unclear who he was talking to.
Aurora Sinclair didn’t answer. She stared warily at a spot next to the chair, where a mass of blackness coiled, as if some terrifying creature was lurking there.
"Oh, so you like the one on the left, my pet? How about we give him some extra food tonight?"
A thick tail seemed to tap the screen excitedly.
The look in Aurora Sinclair’s eyes sharpened instantly.
"Where are you going, my pet? Time to eat? She doesn’t look very tasty..." The person finally swiveled the chair around to face Aurora Sinclair.
In the dim room, his face was obscured, but he seemed to be holding onto the thick tail with his hand.
The fishy stench washed over her again. Aurora Sinclair’s expression remained unchanged, but her hands clenched into fists.
Lights as bright as day suddenly flashed on, forcing everyone to squint.
A meter away from Aurora Sinclair was a giant python, its gaping maw wide open as it stared at her coldly.
Its body was wrapped around a person, whose large hands were gently stroking its scales, as if to soothe it and keep it from striking.
The person in the chair was clad entirely in black and wore a snake-shaped silver mask.
He seemed surprised by Aurora Sinclair’s composure. Even grown men would tremble in fear and lose all will to fight upon seeing his pet.
"You’re new here?"
The soft, sinister voice spoke again.
Aurora Sinclair watched the man and the python warily, not answering.
The man standing beside her kicked her hard from behind, but it felt like kicking an iron plate.
Immediately after, his body went stiff, and he was sent flying, slamming hard against the wall.
The other man quickly drew his gun.
With a loud CRACK, the arm drawing the gun instantly broke.
The black gun clattered to the floor.
The man clutched his broken arm, kneeling on the ground and wailing in agony.
"Hahaha... Interesting..."
The man in the swivel chair laughed out loud, but the mirth didn’t reach his eyes.
"Girl, you truly are fearless. I admire that."
"Why did you reduce the food?" Aurora Sinclair finally spoke.
The man stroked the writhing body in his lap and replied with a smile, "Have you ever heard of the ’nine dogs, one mastiff’ principle?"
Aurora Sinclair’s face instantly darkened. She clenched her fists and said coldly, "They’re human."
"Little girl, this world is a cruel place. Survival of the fittest is the nature of all living things. Even if they weren’t here, they would still prey on the weak to survive. Human desire is limitless, worse than any animal’s. Isn’t that right, my pet...?"
The man lowered his head, seeming to speak to the giant python in his lap.
"You want to eat her that badly?"
"Is she really that delicious?"
"But I’ve taken a liking to her. I don’t want you to eat her."
"What? You insist on eating her?"
"Well, let me think..."
"Alright, fine! I’ll reluctantly give her to you."
After muttering to himself for a while, the man suddenly let go.
The giant python opened its jaws wide and lunged straight for Aurora Sinclair.
Aurora Sinclair sidestepped and leaped away, causing the python’s attack to miss.
She gathered her strength and struck the python’s body with a powerful blow, infused with her immense Power, sending the entire creature flying back into the man.
The entire swivel chair tipped backward, crashing heavily against the control console.
Enraged by the pain, the python whipped its thick tail at Aurora Sinclair. But she caught it, swung it around like a shot put, and hurled it away once more.
"My pet—!" the man cried out, his face pale with shock. He watched in anguish as his giant python smashed through a monitor on the wall and fell hard to the ground.
Aurora Sinclair started to advance again but was forced to a halt by the sound of gunfire.
Her movements were incredibly fast, and every bullet missed its mark.
In an instant, she used the long chain of her handcuffs to wrap around the neck of the man known as Lord Serpent.
The subordinates in the room dared not move, but they didn’t lower their guns.
But then, the unexpected happened.
A colorful, venomous snake shot straight toward Aurora Sinclair...
