Chapter 256: Chapter 250: Second Brother, What Are You Doing Here?

The room was huge. Two rows of beds were arranged inside, each covered with a white sheet, creating an extremely oppressive atmosphere.

Aurora Sinclair walked up to one of the beds. She reached out and lifted the white sheet, revealing a face frozen in terror.

His features were somewhat distorted. It seemed he had been frightened by something before he died. His eyes were wide open, there were heavy, dark bruises on his neck, and his body was covered in scratch marks.

Aurora Sinclair pressed her lips together, her gaze darkening.

Alvin Morgan immediately pulled the sheet back down, as if he didn’t want her to see. But she grabbed his hand, a certain emotion in her eyes, and said in a low voice, "Those who die unjustly need their souls to be guided."

She raised a hand to close the dead man’s eyes, then covered him with the white sheet again. She began to softly chant a passage of obscure scripture.

She did the same for every corpse, her voice low and filled with a certain indescribable emotion.

Alvin Morgan stood silently beside her, keeping her company.

He could feel some kind of change happening deep within her.

As she was chanting, Aurora Sinclair’s eyes suddenly flew open. Her expression sharpened, and she yanked Alvin Morgan down to the floor.

"What’s wrong?"

"Shh, someone’s coming."

A few minutes later, the sound of wheels scraping against the floor came from outside the door, growing closer.

It sounded like there was something heavy on it; the wheels were making a CREAKING sound.

In the silent hallway, it sounded rather creepy.

Then, with a SQUEAL—

The morgue door was pushed open.

A strange man’s voice sounded from the doorway. "Burke, we’ve got a new delivery."

He sounded very young and was speaking standard international language.

He propped both sides of the double door open, then grabbed the cart’s handle and, with another person, carefully pulled it into the room.

Aurora Sinclair peeked out and saw two men in hazmat suits moving a body.

"Burke? Where is he?"

"Probably off feeding his snakes again."

"Tch, what a freak."

The two of them laughed and chatted as they casually tossed the body onto an empty bed.

Suddenly—

A dark figure leaped up from beside a bed, and the nearest man instantly fell to the ground.

The other man was just about to draw his gun when the muzzle of another was pressed against the back of his head.

The man immediately froze. He raised his hands and begged for his life, "Don’t kill me..."

Aurora Sinclair and Alvin Morgan stripped off the men’s hazmat suits and tied them to the side of a bed.

Alvin Morgan interrogated the conscious man and found out how to get into the experimental area.

The two of them quickly changed into the suits, preparing to head to the experimental area.

"Aurora, if we leave through here and take the elevator up, we’ll reach the labs."

Alvin Morgan turned his head and saw Aurora Sinclair checking the pulse of one of the dead.

"Morgan, this one’s still alive." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"What?"

Alvin Morgan’s expression changed, and he hurried over.

It was a thin, frail-looking man.

Aurora Sinclair quickly pressed several major acupoints on the man’s body, as if to stimulate his consciousness.

After an unknown amount of time, the man finally coughed a few times and opened his eyes.

His pupils were somewhat unfocused, and filled with terror. It was like a final burst of life as he mumbled, "Quick... run... there’s a monster..."

"Where?" Aurora Sinclair asked.

"Run... quick..."

The man’s voice stopped abruptly. His body stiffened, and he stopped breathing entirely.

Aurora Sinclair looked at the scratch marks on his body, and the light in her eyes dimmed once more.

Alvin Morgan reached out, put an arm around her, and squeezed her shoulder. "Go ahead and chant."

The obscure, difficult scripture flowed from Aurora Sinclair’s lips, carrying a sense of grief and suppression.

Alvin Morgan said, "I’ve seen that man before. He was one of the rejects from the material prep area."

Aurora Sinclair’s knuckles turned white on the handle of the cart.

Following the route they’d been given, the two of them swiped the keycard and entered the experimental area.

There were many more people in hazmat suits here, but everyone was completely silent.

The two of them pushed the cart to a secluded spot and started looking for the elevator.

"What are you two doing here? Hurry up and go to decontamination—"

Startled, they both spun around to see a woman in the same type of hazmat suit walking toward them.

She swiped her card on the door next to them.

It was actually a private office.

Aurora Sinclair glanced at Alvin Morgan, then quickly followed the female researcher into her room.

"What are you doing?"

But Aurora Sinclair knocked her out with a single karate chop.

"Morgan, there’s a computer here."

Alvin Morgan glanced around, closed the door, and went to the computer to begin working.

Strings of code appeared on the computer screen.

"Aurora, give me your watch."

Alvin Morgan stared at the contents of the screen, the corners of his mouth slowly turning up.

Suddenly—

The sound of a card being swiped came from the door again.

Aurora Sinclair moved with extreme speed to hide the unconscious woman.

"Lina, baby, I’m here! We’ve only got fifteen minutes..."

The man who entered was talking as he took off his hazmat suit, but when he saw two other people in the room, he instantly became furious.
