Pain waited for their bickering to subside before ordering, "Tobi, Deidara. You two will capture the Three-Tails together."

"Huh? Leader, I don't want to team up with Tobi..." Deidara complained with clear distaste.

"Senpai! Help me!" Tobi pleaded.

"Hmph! Stop shouting!"

"Senpai! Senpai! Deidara-senpai~!" Tobi fawned.

Hearing himself addressed as 'senpai' boosted Deidara's ego. It was the first time anyone had called him that since he joined Akatsuki!

He coughed, adopting a serious tone. "Fine! As your senior, I'll teach you how to capture a Tailed Beast. Hmm!"

Tobi laid on the flattery, "Deidara-senpai is the best~!"

Konoha Village,

To ensure Naruto's 'safety' , the village leadership had severely restricted his movements. He was forbidden from leaving the village for missions and confined to Konoha under constant Anbu surveillance.

This was unacceptable to Naruto. More than anything, he needed to become stronger to bring Sasuke back. How could he achieve that stuck inside the village?

With no other choice, he sought out his cheap Sensei, Jiraiya.

The words had barely left his mouth when Jiraiya felt an intense wave of killing intent from behind. Tsunade stood there, hands on her hips, glaring. With a single, mighty punch, she sent him flying clean out of the village.

Naruto swallowed hard, weakly calling out, "Granny Tsunade..."

Surprisingly, Tsunade didn't turn her fury on him. Instead, she gently ruffled his hair and placed the First Hokage's green crystal necklace around his neck.

"Go ahead, leave the village," she said warmly. "Don't worry about the elders; I'll handle them."

Her expression turned serious. "But you have to promise me one thing: no matter what, you come back alive."

Naruto beamed, throwing his arms around her. "Granny Tsunade, you're the best! I promise! I'll work hard, get stronger, and become Hokage!"

A short while later, Jiraiya returned, sporting a large lump on his head and a painful expression.

"Your fist hasn't lost any power, Tsunade!" he groaned.

"Hmph! You better take good care of Naruto," Tsunade warned. "If he loses even one hair, you'll answer to my punches !"

Jiraiya pouted but nodded in agreement.

At that moment, the screen flickered to life again, displaying a new scene.

[ By a riverbank in Konoha Village. Asuma Sarutobi and Kurenai Yuhi were intercepted by two figures wearing the signature Akatsuki cloaks and straw hats.]

[One figure removes his hat, revealing the Sharingan. Asuma and Kurenai break out in cold sweat.]

["Uchiha... Itachi?" Asuma breathes, shocked.]

["Allow me to introduce myself as well," the other figure says, revealing a shark-like grin. "Hoshigaki Kisame. A pleasure to meet yeah!" Kisame speaks with unnerving politeness.]

[Asuma takes a defensive stance. "FUCK YOU! I don't care who you are but we'll stop you right here!"]

[Kisame hefted his massive, scale-covered sword, Samehada. His eyebrows twitching constantly "Shall i kill them?"]

[" Just don't draw too much attention," Itachi cautioned calmly.]

[Instantly, Kisame attacks, swinging Samehada at Asuma. Asuma reacts quickly, blocking with his chakra-infused trench knives. But the razor-sharp scales of Samehada shred his arm upon contact.]

[Seeing this, Kurenai attempts to trap Itachi in a genjutsu, casting , Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death. As she moves in to finish the ensnared Itachi, she finds herself bound by the illusory tree instead.]

[Kurenai bites her lip, drawing blood to break the illusion, but Itachi sends her flying into the river with a swift kick.]

Itachi follows her to the riverbank, observing coolly. "This might have worked on low-level ninjas but we aren't just low-level ninj-...]
