The ground trembled as the shadow beasts charged forward, their howls piercing the oppressive air.

Kael tightened his grip on Aethral Fang.

Marcus stood beside him, his sword trembling in his grasp, but his stance firm.

"We need a plan," Marcus said, his voice steady despite the chaos around them.

"Charging in recklessly won’t work." Marcus added.

Kael nodded, his mind racing. The beasts moved like an unrelenting tide, each step shaking the earth beneath them.

"Divide and conquer," Kael said quickly.

"We take them one at a time—don’t let them overwhelm us."

Before Marcus could respond, the first beast lunged at them, its massive claws slicing through the air.

Kael dodged to the left, Aethral Fang carving through the creature’s shadowy body with a burst of radiant energy.

The beast let out an ear-splitting screech before dissolving into the darkness.

But before Kael could catch his breath, two more beasts replaced the fallen one.

"They’re endless!" Marcus shouted, parrying a claw swipe aimed at him.

The impact nearly knocked him off balance, but he recovered, slashing through the beast’s arm.

"We’ll run out of energy before they do!" Marcus shouted.

Kael growled in frustration, his eyes darting between the beasts. "It’s not about endurance," he said.

"It’s about figuring out what’s keeping them here." Kael added.

The shadowy figure in the distance watched them, unmoving, its crimson eyes gleaming with amusement.

Kael clenched his jaw, a thought forming in his mind.

"Marcus, keep them off me!" he shouted.

"What?!" Marcus shouted back, parrying another attack.

"Trust me!" Kael’s tone left no room for argument.

Marcus nodded, his fear giving way to determination.

"Fine! Don’t die on me!"

Kael sprinted toward the towering figure, weaving through the chaos of lunging beasts and flailing shadows.

Aethral Fang’s glow grew brighter with every step, its energy coursing through him like fire.

The figure tilted its head, its laughter echoing once again. "Oh? Coming for me already? Bold."

Kael gritted his teeth, gripping Aethral Fang tightly as his body screamed for him to retreat.

But something within him pushed back—a feral instinct, ancient and relentless.

He wouldn’t run.

Not now.

Not ever.

Kael stepped forward, his entire being trembling with energy.

He stared down the shadowy figure as he uttered two words:

Dragonic Form.

.

Outside the portal.

The tension outside the portal was palpable.

Ren and Elise were locked in a heated argument, their voices echoing across the desolate battlefield.

"We’re wasting time! Every second we argue is another second Kael and Marcus are fighting for their lives!" Ren shouted, his voice hoarse from exhaustion.

"And whose fault is that?" Elise shot back, her tone dripping with disdain. "If your so-called ’leader’ was strong enough, this wouldn’t even be an issue!"

Ren’s fists clenched tightly, his mana surging erratically. "You don’t know anything about Kael!"

Elise laughed mockingly, her team standing behind her, their smug expressions fueling Ren’s rage.

"If he’s so strong, why hasn’t he come out yet? Face it, Ren—you’re all talk, and your ’cream fillers’ are nothing but a joke." She said.

"Say that again, and I’ll—" Ren started, his mana crackling dangerously.

Before he could finish, Aelina stepped between them, her voice sharp.

"Enough! This isn’t helping anyone!" Aelina said.

But Elise wasn’t done.

"Oh, look, the little mage thinks she can play mediator. How adorable," she sneered, her arms crossed.

"Shut up, Elise!" Lira snapped, stepping forward. "We don’t have time for your petty games!"

As the argument escalated, the sound of hurried footsteps once again interrupted them.

Lumia and Aveline appeared on the horizon, their presence immediately commanding attention.

Elise’s smirk faltered as she saw the expressions on their faces—Lumia’s purple. eyes were blazing with fury, and Aveline’s emerald gaze was cold and calculating.

"Shirone was right," Aveline muttered under her breath, her tone laced with annoyance.

"Elise always takes it too far." She added.

Lumia, wasting no time, stormed into the middle of the chaos. Her voice cut through the clamor like a blade.

"What the hell is going on here?!" Lumia asked.

Ren, upon seeing Lumia, felt a wave of relief wash over him.

"Lumia! Call for help immediately! Kael and Marcus are stuck inside the portal!" Ren shouted.

"What are you saying?" Lumia demanded, her voice rising, her aura expanding in all directions.

The sheer force of her mana caused nearby students to stumble backward, their faces pale.

"They’re trapped," Ren said, his voice trembling. "We tried to fight our way through, but Elise and her team—"

"What?" Lumia interrupted, her voice laced with anger. "Kael is stuck in the portal?"

"Yes!" Ren shouted. "We were going to get help, but Elise and her team ambushed us. They wouldn’t let us pass!"

Lumia’s purple eyes widened, and an overwhelming pressure radiated from her body.

Her bloodlust surged, a suffocating force that left everyone frozen in place.

"You knew?" she growled, her voice low but filled with venom.

Elise, taken aback, tried to regain her composure. "Lumia, it’s not what it looks like—"

"Shut. Up." Lumia’s voice cut through Elise’s protest like a blade.

Without a second’s hesitation, Lumia turned and ran toward the portal, her mana flaring violently.

"What are you doing?!" Elise called after her.

But Lumia ignored her, pulling out a crystal communicator.

Her voice was raw and desperate as she shouted into it.

"Principal Elowen, come to my location immediately!" Lumia shouted on communicator.

The crystal flickered for a moment before a calm voice responded.

"Lumia? What’s wrong?" Principal said.

"Just come here!" Lumia shouted, her voice breaking.

For the first time, the students around her saw a side of their usually composed and regal president they had never seen before—panicked, desperate, and on the verge of tears.

The students were dumbfounded.

Lumia, the academy’s untouchable president, revered for her strength and composure, was now shouting and crying, her emotions raw and unfiltered.

Elowen’s voice softened.

"I’m on my way. Hold on." Principal said.

As Lumia ended the call, she turned to face Elise, her expression cold and unrelenting.

"If Kael comes out of that portal injured—or worse—I swear, Elise—"

Aveline stepped forward.

"You better pray Kael and Marcus is unharmed," she said, her voice low and dangerous.

"Because if they’re not, you won’t just have Lumia to answer to—you’ll have me as well." Aveline said.

Elise, for the first time, felt a flicker of fear.

"Hey but it’s not completely my mistake Lumia, I know my mistake— is that I hold them off but I didn’t know. This of type of event will occur you are blaming me for everything." Elise said.

"Shut up." Aelina shouted.

"We were shouting like hell that— there life are in danger, did you listen to us." Aelina said.

"I —" Elise said.

"Shut up," Lumia said, Cutting off her word.

Elise dumbfounded.

Elise had never seen Lumia or Aveline like this before.

Their combined presence was suffocating, their mana swirling around them like a storm.

"You’ve already crossed a line you can’t come back from."Aveline added, her tone icy.

Elise tried to muster a retort, but the words caught in her throat.

The gravity of the situation was finally sinking in, and she realized she might have pushed too far.
