Novel's Extra: The Lost Heir of Dragon Queen-Chapter 80: Duel: Sparks of Potential
---
Step-step.
Someone was approaching the room where Kael and Lumia were standing.
Click.
The door creaked open, revealing Ren on the other side.
As Ren took in the sight of Kael and Lumia together, he immediately stepped back, his face a mixture of shock and awkwardness.
"Sorry for interrupting," Ren said hurriedly, beginning to close the door.
"Hey, wait," Kael called out."Tell me the reason you came."
"No reason," Ren replied, trying to retreat.
Kael crossed his arms, his tone firm.
"Ren, I’m saying this nicely—tell me."
Ren hesitated for a moment, scratching the back of his head.
"Fine... I was coming to ask if we’re still having the evening duel." Ren asked.
Kael’s expression softened, and a small smirk appeared.
"Hmm. I was about to head there anyway. Let’s go together." Kael said.
Ren nodded reluctantly. Lumia glanced at Kael, a faint smile on her lips, before joining them.
The trio walked through the dim corridors, their footsteps echoing.
...
Kael stood in the center of the training room.
Opposite him were Ren, Marcus, Shirone, Lumia, and Aelina, all geared up and ready for the duel.
"Are you sure about this?" Kael asked.
Ren grinned, his bow already drawn.

"Absolutely. No holding back this time, Kael."
Marcus cracked his knuckles, stepping forward. "We’re all going to give it our best shot. Don’t think you’ll have it easy just because we’re your teammates."
Lumia stood quietly at the side, her new-found confidence evident as she adjusted the bracelet Kael had giftted by kael.
Although now bracelet was useless.
Aelina gave a mischievous smile.
Shirone’s eyes were sharp with determination.
Kael sighed, unsheathing Aethral Fang, his legendary sword. "Alright then, let’s see if you can handle me."
His voice carried a mix of confidence and challenge, and the air in the training room.
.
The first to move was Shirone.
His blade crackled with raw electricity as he infused his mana into the weapon.
His eyes burned with determination, his voice ringing loud.
"Lightning Thunder Slash!"
The shout echoed through the arena as he swung his blade in a wide arc, sending a massive surge of lightning barreling toward Kael.
The attack was fast and destructive, splitting the air with a deafening crack.
Kael’s eyes narrowed. "Not bad, Shirone."
In an instant, Kael sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the lightning slash that carved a deep gash into the arena floor.
The energy fizzled out, but Shirone wasn’t done.
He leapt forward, following up with another electrified strike.
SWISH!
As Kael deflected Shirone’s strike, an arrow whizzed past him, its edge grazing his cheek.
Kael’s gaze flicked toward Ren, who was already nocking another arrow.
"I’m not falling behind!" Ren declared, releasing another shot infused with wind mana.
The arrow curved mid-air, aiming directly for Kael’s blind spot.
Kael parried the arrow with a swift motion of his sword.
"Good instincts, but predictable," Kael said, his voice calm as his gaze locked onto Ren.
Ren gritted his teeth, pulling out three arrows at once.
"Try blocking all of these!" He fired them in rapid succession, each one weaving unpredictably through the air.
Kael smiled, stepping back and spinning Aethral Fang in a smooth motion, deflecting each arrow.
Before Kael could recover, Marcus charged at him with raw, unrestrained power.
His blade glowed crimson as he activated his ability, veins of red mana coursing through his arms.
"I’ll break through all of you!" Marcus roared, swinging his massive sword downward.
CLACK!
The sheer force of the attack sent shockwaves through the arena.
Kael raised Aethral Fang again to block another attack from Marcus.
CLACK
"Impressive strength," Kael admitted, smirking.
Marcus didn’t falter, his potential bubbling up as he unleashed a flurry of heavy strikes, forcing Kael to focus entirely on defense.
As Marcus kept Kael occupied, Aelina stood at a distance, her hands glowing with a mix of ice and water mana.
"You’re not the only one who can multitask, Kael," she said, a sly smile playing on her lips.
She raised her hands, chanting softly.
"Frost Prison!"
Ice began to form beneath Kael’s feet, rapidly expanding into a cage of sharp icicles.
At the same time, a torrent of water surged toward him, aiming to knock him off balance.
Kael’s eyes gleamed as he leapt into the air, narrowly avoiding the icy trap.
He swung his sword, sending a wave of darkness mana toward Aelina.
CLASH!!
Aelina countered with a shield of water, the two forces clashing and sending droplets and shadows scattering across the arena.
Lumia watched the battle unfold, her purple eyes shining with resolve.
"I won’t fall behind," she whispered, gripping her sword tightly.
As Kael landed, Lumia dashed forward, her blade glowing faintly with spirit energy.
She closed the distance with incredible speed, her voice steady as she declared,
"ADi Slash!"
Her attack was swift and precise, catching Kael off guard.
He blocked the strike, but the force of her blade sent a vibration through Aethral Fang.
"Impressive," Kael said, his tone softer as he glanced at Lumia.
Lumia’s face flushed, but she didn’t falter.
"I’ll catch up to you, Kael," she said, her determination unwavering as she pushed forward with another series of attacks.
Kael smiled faintly, recognizing the growth in each of his teammates.
He parried Lumia’s strikes, sidestepped Marcus’s heavy swings, deflected Ren’s arrows, and dodged Aelina’s water projectiles, all while countering Shirone’s lightning-infused assaults.
"Your teamwork is improving," Kael said, spinning Aethral Fang and releasing a wave of darkness that forced all of them back.
"But you still have a long way to go."
The room fell silent for a moment, each member of the team catching their breath.
Despite the intense duel, their determination only grew stronger.
As the sparring session came to a temporary halt, Kael looked at each of his teammates.
"You all have potential—more than you realize," he said.
’I am just saying anything I didn’t know anything about potential,’ kael thought.
Each of them nodded, their resolve burning brighter than ever.
’I will be the strongest,’ Shirone muttered under his breath.
’I’ll catch up to you, Kael,’ Lumia thought, clutching her sword with renewed determination.
’I’ll surpass you all,’ Marcus thought with a grin, his eyes alight with ambition.
"I won’t fall behind," Ren whispered, his grip tightening on his bow.
Aelina simply smiled.
’it seems my nonsense worked,’ kael thought while looking at their determined faces.
"Let’s call it a day for now."
