Novel's Extra: The Lost Heir of Dragon Queen-Chapter 85: The Abyssal Bloom [2]
Someone... anyone... please save me!
Please
Save me!
The man smirked down at her. "Where’s that fiery attitude now, hmm?"
CRACK!
Both Elise and the man froze, turning their heads towards window.
A figure stepped through the broken window.
His white hair gleamed, and a mask obscured his face.
The man’s grin faltered for the first time.
"Who the fuck are you?" he spat, rising to his feet.
The masked figure tilted his head slightly, "You don’t need to know my name."
Before the man could react, the figure moved.
SLASH!
The demon barely had time to register the attack before his head rolled to the floor, blood pooling around his now lifeless body.
Elise gasped.
Relief flooded her as she sat up, clutching the torn remnants of her clothes to her chest.
The masked man stood silently for a moment, his blade glinting in the dim light before he sheathed it.
He turned to Elise, his expression unreadable behind the mask, but his actions were gentle as he crouched down in front of her, removing his cloak.
"Here," he said, his voice steady and calm as he draped the cloak over her shoulders, shielding her from view.
Elise’s cheeks flushed, her heart pounding for an entirely different reason now.
"T-Thank you," she stammered, her voice trembling.
The masked man gave a small nod.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes... I’m okay now. Thanks to you," Elise said, her voice barely above a whisper as she held the cloak tightly around herself.
"Good," he replied, standing up and turning to leave. "I’ll be going now."
"Wait!" Elise called after him. "At least tell me your name."
The masked man paused. "My name?"
"Yes," she insisted, clutching the cloak tighter.
He hesitated for a moment before responding, his voice softer this time.
"E-Eirak."
With that, the masked figure stepped toward the shattered window, disappearing.
Elise sat there in silence, the weight of the events finally sinking in.
She looked down at the cloak draped around her shoulders, her fingers brushing against its fabric.
"Eirak..." she whispered, her heart still racing.
Rivera groaned from her spot on the floor, snapping Elise out of her daze.
She rushed to her friend’s side, helping her sit up.
"We’re safe," Elise murmured, more to herself than anyone else.
And as they both leaned against the wall, recovering from the nightmare they had just endured, one thought lingered in Elise’s mind:
Who is Eirak?

POV: Kael
Kael leaned against the wall of an alley, his gaze locked on the building across the street.
His mind raced with unease.
He’d asked Shirone to keep tabs on Elise——she was fated to meet her demise in the event of the Abyssal Bloom.
Elise’s death was a critical turning point in the Novel, but it wasn’t just her death that concerned Kael.
It was what it symbolized: the start of a chain reaction of suffering that would plunge the academy and its students into peril.
’I couldn’t let that happen,’ he thought.
The sound of muffled voices from inside the building drew his attention.
Kael’s sharp senses picked up on the faint traces of magic and malice, radiating like a foul odor from the structure.
His instincts screamed that something was wrong.
"I was right to follow her," he murmured to himself.
He’d hoped Shirone would be enough to keep watch, but Elise’s erratic behavior had made Kael suspicious.
When she’d disappeared into the city with Rivera, he’d chosen to act, tailing them silently.
And now, as he stood in the shadows, he couldn’t help but feel the weight of destiny pressing down on him.
Inside, he could sense her life force—flickering, weak, and desperate.
And then he felt it: the surge of oppressive, dark energy.
A predator’s energy, cold and suffocating. His eyes widened beneath the mask he wore.
Damn it.
Kael didn’t hesitate. With a sharp inhale, he leaped, shattering the glass window of the fifth floor.
The world slowed as shards of glass.
He landed with a thud, his boots crunching against the debris.
The sight before him made his blood boil.
Elise was pinned to the floor, her eyes wide with terror, her crimson aura dim and flickering as she struggled helplessly against her assailant.
The man, or rather the demon disguised as a man, loomed over her.
Rivera lay unconscious in the corner, her body bruised and battered, completely unable to fight.
"Who the fuck are you?" the demon spat.
Kael said nothing.
"You’ve got some nerve interrupting me, boy."
Kael drew Aethral Fang.

"Die," Kael whisper.
The demon standing few steps away.
Kael moved faster.
With a single slash, the room was filled with a blinding light, and the demon’s head rolled to the floor before his body could even react.
Kael sheathed his sword, his expression unreadable beneath the mask.
He stepped over the corpse and crouched down in front of Elise, who was trembling, clutching at the remains of her torn clothes.
Her wide eyes stared up at him, tears streaming down her face.
Without a word, Kael removed his cloak and draped it over her shoulders, shielding her from view.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Y-Yes... Thank you."
Kael stood.
"Wait!" Elise called after him. "Please, at least tell me your name!"
"My name is Eirak," he said, the lie rolling off his tongue effortlessly.
Without another word, he leaped out of the shattered window, disappearing into the night.
As he fled into the darkness, his mind churned with a mix of relief and dread.
I was at the right place at the right time, Kael thought.
Elise had been seconds away from death, and the fact that he’d managed to save her filled him with a fleeting sense of accomplishment.
But that sense of relief was quickly overshadowed by the reality of the situation.
The Abyssal Bloom event has already begun.
I should focus Low rank classes.
