Oopss... I Married My Boss-Chapter 70: From Craving to Crisis
Bianca was sprawled out on the sofa, lazily watching a Korean drama series. On screen, the female lead walked into an ice cream shop and ordered a scoop of mint chocolate chip.
Bianca licked her lips as she watched the woman savor every bite.
Out of nowhere, the craving hit her. She wanted it too, desperately. The urge to taste that mint chocolate chip ice cream grew so strong she actually had to swallow hard.
"Ah, I want mint choco too."
Bianca got up from the sofa, pulling her legs as she walked toward the kitchen. She opened the fridge, then pulled open the freezer, checking if the ice cream Adrian bought included mint chocolate chip.
A small sigh escaped her lips when she didn’t find it. Yeah, she remembered, she had only asked Adrian to buy the most common flavors. Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.
"What should I do? I really want mint choco ice cream."
She stood there thinking. She wanted it so badly, but Adrian was busy working at the office, and she didn’t want to trouble him.
Then it hit her, there was an ice cream shop not too far from Adrian’s apartment. About ten minutes by car. With a cheerful smile and light steps, Bianca headed to the bedroom to change clothes and get ready to go buy her mint choco.
Before getting into her BMW, technically Adrian’s car that he told her to use, Bianca tried calling him to let him know she’d be stepping out of the apartment for a bit. But the call didn’t go through.
"He must be in a meeting," she murmured.
Slipping her phone into her bag, Bianca got into the car and headed toward the ice cream shop.
Inside the BMW, Bianca didn’t forget to turn on some classical music for the ride. She had read in an article that classical music was good for pregnant women, it could calm the baby and even stimulate brain development.
She nodded her head gently to the rhythm as the car moved along. About ten minutes later, she arrived at the ice cream shop.
After parking the car, Bianca stepped out and walked inside. The shop was fairly busy, some people were lined up at the counter, while others sat at small tables enjoying their ice cream.
When her turn came, she ordered the ice cream she had been craving after watching the drama. She chose a large size, the special one meant for takeout.
Bianca was waiting for her ice cream when suddenly someone grabbed her arm from behind and spun her around.
"Jenice..." The man’s voice was low, almost trembling. He was tall, strikingly handsome, with brown hair that suited his features.
"Excuse me? I think you’ve got the wrong person," Bianca replied, clearly displeased. Her good mood vanished instantly after being pulled so abruptly by a stranger.
The man stared at her intently, still stunned. For a moment, a trace of sadness appeared in his gaze before he shook his head.
"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that. I thought you were someone I used to know." he said, sounding genuinely regretful. He had been swept up in emotion, mistaking the back of the woman for someone he deeply missed.
At first, Bianca thought the man was just like the others, approaching her under the excuse that he mistook her for someone else.
If she had to be honest, it wasn’t that she was arrogant or vain. Bianca knew she was beautiful and had the kind of figure most women would envy. But what could have been a blessing often turned into a curse.
Many men, even the perverted ones, came to her only for her looks and body. Their stares and crude remarks leaving her uncomfortable, sometimes even fearful.
That’s why, back when she was Adrian’s secretary, Bianca always wore modest clothes and big glasses. She didn’t want to attract the men’s attention at the office, nor did she want to become the subject of gossip among the women. So Bianca kept a low profile at work and only dressed up on certain occasions.
But when hearing the man’s words, along with the sadness on his face and in his voice, Bianca realized he wasn’t like those indecent men and dropped her intention to scold him. "It’s okay. I understand."
The stranger gave Bianca a faint smile before softly saying, "Thank you."
"Miss, this is your mint choco ice cream. Your order is ready," the shop staff called, making Bianca turn around to get it.
A small frown appeared on the stranger’s face when he heard the flavor Bianca ordered.
"So, she likes the same flavor too," he muttered, watching her back.
After receiving her ice cream, Bianca gave him a small nod before leaving the shop.
As soon as he saw Bianca’s familiar-looking back, as if she was about to walk away and he would never see her again, Tristan’s feet unconsciously began to follow her.
When Tristan exited the shop, he saw a car speeding towards Bianca, who was about to open her car door and did not see the vehicle.
Suddenly, Tristan’s heart raced. Quickly, Tristan ran towards Bianca and pulled her away from her car. However, the car had already hit Bianca’s car, causing both Tristan and Bianca to be thrown backward.
Tristan hit the ground hard. His head was throbbing, he felt dizzy, and there was a faint ringing in his ears. Slowly, he turned his head to look at Bianca.
Tristan suddenly felt short of breath upon seeing Bianca’s head covered in blood. His feelings changed to fear. Steeling himself, Tristan tried to get up. He saw people beginning to gather around them, and some approached Bianca, trying to assess her condition.
Before long, the sound of police and ambulance sirens could be heard.
The police then told the bystanders to clear the area, while the paramedics brought their stretchers and lifted Tristan and Bianca into separate ambulances.
Adrian had just finished a meeting and wanted to talk to Bianca. As soon as he called her, a man answered the phone instead.
"Who are you? Where’s Bianca?" Adrian asked sharply, trying to hide his worry.
"Do you know the owner of this phone?" the man replied. "She just got into an accident and is now being taken to the hospital."
Adrian froze the moment he heard that Bianca had been in an accident.
"I’m Officer Thompson. The owner’s bag was left at the scene, so I picked up the call," the man explained.
Officer Thompson then mentioned the name of the hospital.
Still shaken with panic and fear, Adrian asked again, "Is my wife alright?" His voice trembled as he tried to hold back tears.
Officer Thompson wanted to comfort Adrian, but he hesitated, because the truth was, he didn’t know Bianca’s condition.
He sighed and answered Adrian honestly. "I’m not sure, sir."
Hearing that, Adrian’s heart grew even more restless and worried. "Thank you for letting me know. I’ll head to the hospital right away."
As soon as he reached the parking lot, he told his driver to take him straight to the hospital where Bianca had been taken.
On the way to the hospital, Adrian, overwhelmed with worry, began to pray for Bianca and their baby. His heart kept pounding fast and hard, as if it might burst from the fear, anxiety, and panic.
As soon as he arrived at the hospital, Adrian rushed straight to the Emergency Room. He grabbed a nurse and asked frantically, "Where’s my wife?"
"Sir, please calm down. What’s your wife’s name?"
"Bianca Valencia."
"I’m sorry, sir, I don’t know about that patient," the nurse replied regretfully. "Please try asking at the administration desk."
Adrian quickly ran to the administration desk.
"Is there a patient named Bianca Valencia?" he asked a middle-aged woman.
"Please wait a moment, sir. I’ll check," the staff member replied.
"I’m sorry, sir. There’s no one by that name."
Adrian, panicked, began to grow frustrated. "How can my wife not be here? The police told me she was brought to this hospital!"
"Oh, sir, there were two new patients admitted. One of them is a woman without any identification. That might be your wife," the staff explained.
"Where is she now?" Adrian asked urgently.
