Otherworld Advance Team-Chapter 80 - 76 Kicking the Door Operation
80: Chapter 76: Kicking the Door Operation
80 -76: Kicking the Door Operation
Even though they were already close to the Namijiya Mountain Range, it was still over fifty kilometers from the village to the Sunset Fortress.
It was noteworthy that these beastmen would spare no effort to scramble over mountains and ridges to launch an attack here.
Luo’er wished he had more time for a meticulous analysis to ensure the success of this rescue mission, but obviously time was not on their side.
This Sub-beast Race village was known as Meila Village.
It appeared unassuming, but was an important transit station for the Oudallo army to reach the Sunset Fortress.
On usual days, the villagers would transport supplies to the Oudallo army stationed at the Fortress.
Before the Kabarguru Peninsula fell into civil unrest, merchants and adventurers heading towards the peninsula by land would also pass through here.
However, with the outbreak of the civil unrest on the peninsula, merchants and adventurers were scared off, leaving the village much quieter.
If these beastmen were here solely to loot, they certainly wouldn’t linger in Meila Village for long.
The Oudallo troops who were rotating in could pass by at any time.
If they were spotted, the few dozen beastmen wouldn’t be a match for them.
Luo’er aimed to rescue the majority of the villagers before dawn.
Under this premise, he planned to drive the beastmen out of the village as much as possible.
According to the feedback from the sniper team, many of the beastmen were hiding in houses, using them as temporary resting places.
Some were roaming around the village and had even started a bonfire in the village square, merrily holding a bonfire party.
The only solution now was to kick down doors one by one, infiltrate from one side of the village, clear the enemy in each house, and rescue the hostages.
Thus, following Luo’er’s arrangement, the squad split into a 2+3 formation again.
Baiyue and Hu Daoke’s sniper team positioned themselves at the sniping point to provide support, while the remaining three formed an assault team for the breakthrough.
Considering that beastmen generally had low affinity towards magic, they wouldn’t have to worry about magic disturbance revealing their location, even if they used magic on a large scale.
This considerably reduced the pressure on their plan.
As for Taran, Luo’er let him stay at a location known to the villagers on the outskirts of the village to assist the rescued villagers.
Once everything was ready, the squad split into two and began to advance towards the village.
About half an hour into their walk, Luo’er and his team could see the village not far ahead.
Some houses had been set ablaze, the blazing flames basking half the sky in red, as a few trouble-making beastmen joyfully set fire everywhere.
However, some houses remained untouched.
Luo’er deduced that those would be the houses where they were resting.
Given this, the number of rooms they needed to clear decreased significantly.
They simply needed to kick open the doors of the houses that hadn’t been set on fire and rescue the hostages inside.
Luo’er and the others stood by on the outskirts of the village, while Baiyue and Hu Daoke stealthily crossed the wooden bridge over the river to reach the sniping point on the opposite shore.
Hu Daoke, a half-beastman himself, remained silent out of guilt as he witnessed the outrageous actions of the beastmen.
After reaching the sniping point, they quickly surveyed and set up the location, laying their sleeping bags on the ground before lying down, placing the sniper rifles on the ground.
Their sniper rifles had silencers attached, so at a distance of 200 meters, their shots were essentially silent.
It was soon going to be late night, and the moon still hung in the mid-sky.
The silvery moonlight provided good visibility on the ground.
After the two of them were ready, Hu Daoke guided Baiyue to locate Luo’er’s team.
“Signal them to get ready!” Hu Daoke said to her, looking through the binoculars.
Baiyue didn’t respond.
After a brief hesitation, she pulled the trigger.
The bullet whizzed out, hitting the ground not far from Luo’er’s team, signalling them to get ready.
Startled by the sudden bullet striking near them, Luo’er took a moment to compose himself, signalled the others, and the three of them promptly stood up and began to sneak into the village.
For the sake of stealth, Luo’er’s AK rifle was also fitted with a silencer.
Although it was highly effective for such a surprise operation, its extended size made it somewhat cumbersome for him to handle.
The three of them slowly approached a wooden house.
Luo’er placed his ear on the door and could hear snoring from the inside.
Given that the entire village was now occupied by the beastmen, it was clear who would be sleeping inside and snoring.
Luo’er subtly pushed against the door.
It was a simple wooden door made of patched boards, rendering it weak.
He was confident he could kick it down with one strong kick.
He then nodded, signaled to Cheng Ziang, wrapped his neck scarf over his mouth, and made a silence gesture to Tangmo.
Tangmo nodded and began reciting a spell.
She waved her magic wand and the familiar Silence Domain once again enveloped their surroundings.
Luo’er and Cheng Ziang nodded, then Luo’er stood up, kicked open the wooden door, and they stormed into the house, one after the other.
The house was pitch black.
All he could smell was the familiar scent of sweat and body odor.
Luo’er had no choice but to use his magic wand to cast the Magic Light Skill.
A soft glow lit up at the top of his wand, illuminating the entire house.
There were four beastmen in the house, one awkwardly lying on a narrow bed, and the remaining three sprawled out on the floor.
Not far away lay a bloody wreckage.
It was quite clear what that wreckage was.
Cheng Ziang swiftly cut down the three beastmen on the floor one by one, their throats slit to the spine.
They met their end in their sleep.
The other beastman was hit by Luo’er’s two tri-burst shots.
He shivered for a moment before falling silent.
Having dealt with the enemies inside the house and finding no hostages, the two didn’t linger and swiftly moved onto the next house.
As for the sniper unit, they were keeping a close eye on Luo’er’s trio’s actions while searching for solitary Beastmen to eliminate.
“Nine o’clock direction, fifty meters to the right from Luo’er’s position, there’s one alone!” reported Hu Daoke.
“Got it!” Baiyue coldly remarked, adjusting her rifle barrel to aim at the Beastman.
“Hold on, wait till he gets a bit farther!” Hu Daoke said, watching the Beastman leisurely walk away from the village center to the riverside.
“Take him down!” Upon Hu Daoke’s command, Baiyue immediately pulled the trigger, with the silenced rifle emitting an unusual muted sound.
The Beastman’s body shuddered violently, as if hit by a heavy hammer, before toppling straight into the river.
“Nice!” Hu Daoke briefly complimented before continuing to search for the next target.
“Eleven to twelve o’clock, near the village’s outer fence, there is an enemy.” Through his telescope, Hu Daoke saw a Beastman who was apparently full, walking leisurely to the outskirts of the village, seemingly unaware of the danger.
“Got it!” After adjusting her scope a bit, Baiyue had the Beastman in her crosshairs, silently calculating the shooting elements, adjusting the reticle slightly, and quietly spoke.
“Deviate one, take him out!” Hu Daoke gave the sniping order after confirming that no one was following him.
The moment Hu Daoke finished his words, Baiyue pulled the trigger.
The Beastman suddenly convulsed as though hit by a heavy hammer, his head exploding with a spray of blood before he feebly collapsed and rolled down the hill beyond the fence.
The silencer effectively reduced the gunshot sound and the ambient noise effectively masked the rest.
As a result, the Beastman had no idea what had happened until he died.
“Kill confirmed.
Nice.” Having confirmed the enemy’s death, Hu Daoke briefly complimented before beginning to search for the infiltrating Luo’er and his party.
“The assault team has entered the village and is initiating the rescue operation.” As Hu Daoke spoke, he turned his scope to a new area.
“Nine o’clock direction, an enemy is heading towards them.”
“Got it!” Baiyue answered.
“Don’t shoot yet, wait until he is obscured by the buildings on the other side before you take him out.” As Hu Daoke spoke, his eyes were on the swaggering Beastman, who was getting closer to Luo’er and his team.
Only when the enemy was blocked by a building did he give the sniping order.
“Fire!”
Thwack!
At Hu Daoke’s command, Baiyue calmly pulled the trigger.
The bullet hit the Beastman’s temple accurately, spraying a mix of brain matter and blood against a nearby mud wall.
Only after neutralizing the threat did Luo’er and his team breathe a sigh of relief and lower their weapons.
The three arrived at a house’s entrance; there were wretched screams and rough laughter of the Beastmen emanating from inside.
Luo’er gestured to Tangmo, who proceeded to paste a rune sticker on the door.
After tearing it off, a perfect explosive rune was left on the door.
“Listen up.
As planned, number one will activate the Silence Domain when I count to one.
On my signal, initiate the explosive rune.
Five seconds after breaching, the Silence Domain ends.
Is that clear?” Despite the imminent confrontation, Luo’er reiterated the plan once more.
“Got it.” Tangmo returned to Luo’er’s side and nodded.
Luo’er turned to Cheng Ziang on the other side of the door, who was solemnly nodding in assent, one hand clasping a handgun, and the other resting on the dagger at his waist.
“OK, get ready!” Luo’er gritted his teeth, tightly gripping his AK rifle and raising his left hand.
To be honest, even though they had undertaken ample hostage rescue training at school, executing a rescue mission in a completely unfamiliar environment was another matter entirely.
With scarce intelligence, they had no choice but to face the challenge head-on.
Given the choice again, Luo’er might not agree to help Taran.
“Three, two, one!”
The moment Luo’er counted to one, Tangmo, wielding his magic wand, instantly activated the Silence Domain.
They all felt the surroundings go eerily quiet, a disconcerting silence that blocked any noise they made from being heard outside the domain.
Luo’er took a deep breath and forcefully swung his arm down.
At his command, Tangmo uttered an incantation, activating the explosive rune on the door with the gathered magic power.
The rune emitted a faint glow, the whole wooden door was instantly torn apart, debris spraying around, yet they heard no sound.
