Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 387 - 368: Relationship Exposed
Ian Grant and Mina Thorne were completely overshadowed by Sylvia Langley and Sienna Thornton.
The suggestion by Bianca Fordham that Sienna and Mina were as similar as sisters was subtly deflected by Sylvia Langley’s clever words.
Old Master Forrester continued to sip his tea steadily.
Bianca occasionally said a few things to stir up the rivalry between Sylvia Langley and Ian Grant; the two exchanged remarks back and forth, but Sylvia Langley was formidable in debate, both confident and poised, speaking with compelling arguments and great force.
Ian Grant quickly fell behind in the verbal spar, feeling deeply disgruntled, unable to sit still. Seeing Quentin Thorne calmly enjoying tea with Old Master Forrester, she was too embarrassed to leave, so she sat there with a sullen expression, casting a sharp, skin-piercing glance at Sienna Thornton sitting across from her.
Sienna Thornton suddenly felt incredibly bored.
She quietly stood up and walked outside.
Simon Forrester, who was listening to Old Master Forrester and Quentin Thorne talking, saw this and quickly followed her out.
The two sat down by the stone table in the inner courtyard.
Seeing that she looked unwell, Simon Forrester asked, "Why don’t I ask my mom to move the wedding dress and jewelry into my car, and we’ll try them on slowly back at the apartment?"
Sienna Thornton agreed, as she was utterly tired of the entire Thorne family.
After sitting outside for a while, when they re-entered the living room, Sylvia Langley suddenly appeared, having brought out the dresses Sienna had ordered in Lumeria.
"Jules and Thornton plan to officially register their marriage on February 15th!" Sylvia Langley cheerfully told Old Master Forrester, "The date for marriage registration is one the young couple decided on themselves. Dad, you just need to pick a lucky wedding date!"
Old Master Forrester repeatedly glanced at Quentin Thorne, whose face had turned ashen, and did not dare to respond to Sylvia Langley.
Sylvia Langley asked again, "Dad! Have you picked a date or not? If you don’t, I’ll have my dad choose one!"
Forced into a corner, fearing that Sylvia Langley would actually ask her father from The South to choose a date, Old Master Forrester quickly replied, "Choose, choose, choose! How can we let your father decide the wedding date of Forrester Family descendants? That’s absurd!"
Grandma Forrester, who had been silent, apparently had some insight into auspicious dates and chimed in, "February 23 on the lunar calendar is already Qingming; I think it’s best to choose one of the days before February 15 on the lunar calendar!"
Bianca Fordham, who had already married off a daughter-in-law, clearly had expertise: "There’s more than a month left, that’s ample time. After all, the bride’s family situation is simple, just send some betrothal gifts to Wrayhaven, a round trip taking two days should suffice. As for the wedding, we can just hold it at The Imperial Court Club, saving us from booking a hotel and waiting for a schedule."
Seeing the Forrester Family discussing the marriage of a granddaughter-in-law, Ian Grant pulled Mina Thorne: "Let’s go, there’s nothing for us here!"
The mother and daughter stood up, but Quentin Thorne, who should have left with them, remained seated, his fingers interlaced, elbows resting on his knees, head slightly lowered.
From the side of his face, it was clear that he was gritting his teeth tightly.
Ian Grant gave his shoulder a shove, "Aren’t you leaving?"
Without acknowledging Ian Grant, he took a deep breath, lifted his head to look at the conflicted Old Master Forrester, and said, "Uncle Forrester, I think it’s best to reconsider the marriage between Rex and Annie."
This statement caused even Zane Forrester, who had remained silent, to look up.
Ian Grant was the first to react, quickly stepping forward to slap Quentin Thorne’s shoulder: "Are you crazy?! They’re marrying a granddaughter-in-law! What’s it to you?! What are you going to reconsider? Huh?!"
She continued to slap his shoulder, but Quentin Thorne ignored her, grimly making a final ultimatum to Old Master Forrester: "Uncle Forrester! I’m putting my stance here today! I don’t agree to Annie marrying into your family! If you insist on holding the wedding for her and Rex, then consider our decades-long friendship officially over!"
His tone was fiercely aggressive.
Even Ian Grant, who had never seen him speak like this, was stunned. After a few seconds, she came back to her senses and lunged at him, crying out, "You really have gone mad! Do you have no shame left? You’re embarrassing me and Mina for this little temptress! Quentin Thorne! You bastard!"
Sylvia Langley watched the scene unfold with amusement as she adjusted the wedding gown on the wooden mannequin nearby.
Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester, standing by the door, looked on in shock at what was happening.
Seeing the Thorne couple entangled, Simon Forrester strode in to separate Ian Grant, "Aunt Grant, please behave!"
With space, Quentin Thorne adjusted his wool coat.
The warmth and friendliness on his face were gone; now he was solemn.
Sienna Thornton stood by the door, expressionless, her eyes red.
He walked over to her and stopped in front of her.
In the room, a dozen pairs of eyes watched them.
Ian Grant was still intent on going over but was blocked by Simon Forrester, unable to get in or out.
Mina Thorne looked coldly at her father and Sienna Thornton.
Standing before Sienna Thornton, Quentin Thorne, suddenly flashed a somewhat pitiable smile, with a tone that was almost pleading, "Annie, your father opposes your marriage into the Forrester family for a reason. At least listen to your father’s concerns before deciding, alright? This is a major event in your life, and I don’t want you to make a rash decision under such passive circumstances."
Ian Grant’s knees weakened, and after a while, she suddenly burst into tears and laughter: "So, Quentin Thorne... she’s your love child!... I can’t go on living!"
She wailed.
Mina Thorne stepped forward to support Ian Grant, "Mom, let’s go home first."
As they passed Sienna Thornton, Ian Grant, emotionally shattered, looked desperately at Quentin Thorne standing with Sienna.
Mina remained indifferent, appearing calm compared to Ian Grant’s breakdown: "Dad, I’ll take Mom home first, come back soon."
Without even glancing at Sienna Thornton, she left, supporting Ian Grant.
Sienna Thornton, who had been silent through the Thorne drama, suddenly felt a sense of relief. Her slightly red eyes returned to their normal color.
She glanced around at the shocked Forrester Family, finally resting her gaze on Quentin Thorne, and with a faint smile, she said, "What gives you the right?"
