Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 392 - 373: Dreaming
Compared to Sienna Thornton’s heavy expression, Simon Forrester’s face was instead relaxed.
He wrapped his arm around Sienna Thornton’s slender waist under the wedding dress and laughed, "We’re already like this, can he really stop us?"
"Like what?"
His other hand gently caressed her flat belly, his warm palm covering it, smiling mischievously, "Maybe we already have a daughter, what can he do about it?"
Sienna Thornton laughed heartily, lifting her head from his shoulder and lightly tapping his cheek with her finger, "A daughter? In your dreams!"
She stood up and took off the white gown.
Simon Forrester lay back on the long soft bench, feeling a bit dejected, looking at the warm, dim lights on the ceiling, pondering how to convince Quentin Thorne to agree to his marriage with Sienna Thornton.
Sienna Thornton had started taking medicine earlier, and it was actually her own suggestion.
Other people might have children after just a year of living together, but they’ve been living together for nearly two years, and the child is still nowhere to be found.
He wanted to go down the route of having a child before marriage, but there was no way.
Quentin Thorne probably believed that Sienna Thornton wouldn’t do anything like having a child before marriage to put herself at a disadvantage. He was also sure that the Forrester family was wary of him, and without his consent, they wouldn’t dare let Sienna marry his grandson, which gave him the boldness to oppose it.
One has to admit, the Thorne family is shrewd in ways beyond comparison.
.
After packing up the jewelry and wedding dress, they took their pajamas to the bathroom.
At that time, in the steamy bathroom, Simon Forrester was massaging Sienna Thornton’s stiff shoulders and neck as they chatted intermittently.
Seeing the house still tidy, Sienna Thornton smiled, "When I wasn’t here, did you call a maid to clean or did you clean yourself?"
"I asked the property management to call someone to clean it," Simon Forrester replied, "Last week, I was busy negotiating with the Sinclair family and didn’t have time to clean the house."
Speaking of the Sinclair family, Sienna Thornton asked, "What will Nina Sinclair’s father do with so much money?"
"He’ll probably take the chance to divorce his wife and make the woman who bore him a son his main wife."
"Wasn’t his wife your mom’s best friend?"
"Yes."
Thus, it’s likely that Simon Forrester’s information was accurate.
Upon hearing that Colin Sinclair was going to abandon his wife, who had just lost her biological daughter, Sienna Thornton sighed, "Men can be really cruel sometimes. Their daughter is gone; shouldn’t they be closer to their wife instead?"
Simon Forrester remained silent.
After massaging her shoulders for a while longer, he changed the subject and asked, "Now that the storm has passed, when are you planning to move back in?"
Sienna Thornton didn’t answer immediately.
She leaned back and closed her eyes, soaking in the hot water, and after a while, she softly said, "Not so soon yet. My mom is also quite happy living in Z City, probably because she’s back in her hometown."
Earlier, she had discussed with Rhonda and others about setting up a branch in Z City, but back then Melinda Linton was still in good health. Now, Simon Forrester figured that the branch wasn’t going to happen and that Sienna Thornton would need to spend most of her time at home taking care of Melinda Linton.
Economically, they were secure; Sienna Thornton had saved a sum of money herself, and the Forresters deposited bonuses into her account every month. But Simon Forrester feared that if she stayed home for too long, she might become depressed.
He joked, "So you’re planning to be a couch potato in Z City now?"
"No!" Sienna Thornton replied, "After the New Year, I’m going to start looking for work."
"What about your mom?"
"I’ll hire a caregiver to stay with her during the day."
Simon Forrester nodded, "That sounds like a good idea."
.
On the third day of the new year, Simon Forrester took Sienna Thornton back to Z City. He stayed there with Sienna for a few days and then returned to Brimfield early in the morning on the sixth day to get ready for work at the "Forrester Group" on the seventh.
As Simon Forrester left, Quentin Thorne showed up.
Sienna Thornton met him at the coffee shop downstairs in the apartment building.
Perhaps she was still not used to the new relationship with Quentin Thorne, as Sienna Thornton appeared a bit cold and didn’t speak much, showing none of her previous enthusiasm and liveliness.
Quentin Thorne said, "I told grandma about you, and she really wants to meet you. When you return to Brimfield, why don’t you visit the old house with your dad to see her?"
Sienna Thornton replied indifferently, "Maybe later. It’s not the right time now."
"Your grandfather has been gone for four or five years. If possible, on Tomb-sweeping Day in April, come back to pay respects and meet all the Thorne family relatives."
Sensing Quentin Thorne’s urgency, Sienna Thornton took a sip of coffee, looked up at him with neutral eyes as if talking about someone else’s business.
She asked Quentin Thorne, "I’ve just been through such a scandal, and now I’m unemployed; are you not afraid of making me a laughingstock by introducing me to your relatives?"
She knew how much Quentin valued her career, which is why he tried to persuade her not to appear on the "Lawyer Talk" program. Now that she’s jobless, she wanted to know what Quentin thought of her.
Noticing her continued sensitivity, Quentin Thorne smiled helplessly and gazed deeply at her, "Whether you’re working or not, I’m always proud of you. It doesn’t matter if you’re unemployed; I can take care of you."
"I’ve become very picky being raised by the Forrester’s grandson; can you really afford me?"
As soon as Sienna Thornton said this, Quentin Thorne’s expression changed. He took a sip of his coffee, and after a while, said with some displeasure, "There’s a reason I never liked the idea of you marrying into the Forresters."
Sienna Thornton remained silent, quietly observing him.
"Do you know that the master of the Forrester family wants his future granddaughter-in-law to give birth to three great-grandchildren?"
Sienna Thornton shook her head.
Quentin Thorne seemed to already imagine Sienna holding one boy in each hand while carrying another one in her belly.
At the thought of such a scene, he felt hopeless, "Three great-grandchildren? That implies pressuring her to select the baby’s sex in the future! If she doesn’t have a boy, is she supposed to terminate the pregnancies? Besides, not to mention the risk involved in childbirth, just imagine the impact of carrying three children, three pregnancies, on a woman’s body!"
Quentin Thorne spoke angrily, his face flushed with emotion.
Sienna Thornton had never seen this side of him before. Realizing his concern for her was genuine, she suddenly felt warmth, and her expression softened as she gave Quentin a rare smile, "Most dads encourage their daughters to have more children, yet you seem against it."
Quentin Thorne sighed, "Annie, daddy knows what you want."
