Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Arrangements

She was slightly taken aback, but given the setting, she politely and respectfully called out, "President Ford."

However, worry involuntarily surfaced in her almond eyes.

Others might not notice, but as his girlfriend, she wasn’t clueless; the icy gloom simmering beneath Julian Ford’s indifferent eyes wasn’t immediately obvious, but she could tell right away that he was in a terrible mood.

But at the moment, they were at the company, and due to the circumstances, Scarlett Shaw couldn’t say much.

What she didn’t expect was for Julian Ford to directly grab her hand and head towards the CEO’s office.

Logic told Scarlett Shaw that she should break free at this moment.

Yet Julian Ford’s palm was icy cold, and his grip was firm and strong; she almost had to jog to keep up with his pace. Looking up at his cold, stern profile, her instinct to pull away was overtaken by the urge to hold onto him.

Aaron Carson had just exited the assistant’s office, and what he saw was Julian Ford and Scarlett Shaw, fingers intertwined, breezing past him like the wind.

Aaron Carson froze abruptly.

?!

They are at the company!

What on earth is President Ford doing?!

Wait a minute.

Even if they weren’t at the company, seeing Julian Ford clutching Scarlett Shaw like that was still unbelievable enough!

Suddenly, something clicked in Aaron Carson’s mind, and in a flash, his excellent professional instinct as a special assistant took over; he immediately turned back and blocked the other assistants who were about to follow out, preventing them from seeing what was happening outside.

It was also at this moment that Scarlett Shaw was pulled into the CEO’s office by Julian Ford.

Outside the door, Aaron Carson let out a breath of relief and, feeling quite shaken, glanced at the door of the CEO’s office, his emotions indescribably complex.

He really didn’t expect that Scarlett Shaw would actually be involved with the President.

In the future, if they were to bicker again, wouldn’t it be easy for her to tattletale on him?

Inside, Scarlett Shaw was pressed against the cool, wooden door, caught in a gentle, slow kiss from Julian Ford.

He hooked her waist, holding her close.

Her feet had to tiptoe, slender arms wrapping around his neck, held tightly as if he wanted to merge her into himself.

From the doorway to the broad, straight office desk.

Scarlett Shaw was lifted onto the desk by Julian Ford.

This desk was where Julian usually worked, neat and orderly, with a laptop and documents on it.

The rich scent of wood carried a trace of coolness, hard in texture, and the items on it were carelessly swept to the floor.

"Julian Ford?"

Scarlett Shaw, between breaths during the kiss, rested her forehead against his, meeting his deep, dark eyes.

She was enclosed in his arms, trapped against his chest.

In Julian Ford’s eyes, Scarlett saw a restrained, pained endurance.

Not for her.

But it was enough to make her heart clench.

However, that trace of pain didn’t last long in Julian’s eyes; in mere seconds, his features returned to their usual calm.

His indifferent gaze traced downward from her blush-stained face to her slightly disheveled, revealing white blouse collar. Just as Scarlett hurriedly grabbed her blouse, intending to button it up, she heard Julian’s calm voice:

"Let me."

The man’s long fingers rose, leisurely buttoning up her blouse, smoothing out its creases.

So composed, as if the man who had just kissed her with such intensity wasn’t him.

"Did you just come down from the chairman’s office? Did something happen?"

Scarlett asked, looking into Julian Ford’s eyes. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Julian lowered his gaze, meeting hers, "No."

As if.

Scarlett silently sighed in her heart.

She wasn’t a fool. Even if she didn’t know everything, if it caused her usually emotionally stable boyfriend distress, it must involve someone very close to him.

However, with Julian Ford’s stubborn refusal to talk, even if she were to dissect his heart, it’s unlikely she’d extract a single word.

Finally, Scarlett simply opened her arms and hugged Julian silently.

And when Julian returned to the Ford family, it was hardly surprising that Freya Pierce brought up someone named Miss Hawthorne again.

Coming from a traditional prestigious family, although not as vast as the Ford empire, the Hawthorne Family had aggressively invested in the AI large model industry in recent years, with promising prospects that might someday rival the Ford family.

"Miss Hawthorne likes theater, and there happens to be a renowned theater troupe performing at the Capitoline Theater tomorrow. I asked a friend to get two VIP tickets for you to go with her."

Freya Pierce, amicably smiling, spoke while handing the tickets to Julian Ford.

And on a whim, she pushed Irene Hawthorne’s contact information toward him.

Julian stared at the hand extended by his mother for a moment, not moving.

There was a clear aversion in the depths of his dark eyes.

Freya’s brows furrowed, the smile in her eyes nearly vanishing at once, "You’re unwilling?"

Ezra was quicker to act than Julian, taking the tickets and stuffing them into Julian’s hand with a smile, "For your arrangements, Julian wouldn’t be unwilling."

"That’s good."

Freya’s beautiful face once again sported a smile, satisfactorily and happily clasping Julian’s hand.

"I always knew that our Julian would never let me down."

Ezra echoed her words with a couple of laughs, and at first glance, the couple seemed harmonious.

Only Julian watched coldly from the sidelines, with no interest in joining in.

Clearly, he was their biological son too.

But to Freya and Ezra, perhaps he was the one who truly should never have existed.

Leaving the Ford Mansion, Julian drove back to the Cloud Mansion, and on the way, he noticed a message from Scarlett asking if he was free tomorrow night.

The Bentley, which had been speeding down the street, suddenly slowed, the fingers holding the steering wheel going somewhat stiff. Julian typed back: No.

On the other end, Scarlett stared at her boyfriend’s cold response, the simple word "No," and was momentarily stunned.

Although brevity had always been Julian’s style.

But she was trying to set up a date—what kind of boyfriend rejects his girlfriend so decisively without even offering an explanation?

Moreover, since returning from Cloud Harbor, they had only had dinner together once, besides that one time in his office. Truth be told, she really wanted to see him.

But a heart filled with longing cannot thrive when met with an unyielding refusal, however slight.

Though Scarlett felt distressed, remembering Julian’s unsettling demeanor earlier, after much thought, she refrained from complaining and simply replied: If you’re busy, we can meet another day.

Julian Ford: Alright.

The next evening, Julian Ford met Irene Hawthorne.

From the restaurant to the theater, Irene did most of the talking, with Julian occasionally responding, his distracted attitude quite evident.

Irene, however, wasn’t offended. Instead, after they took their seats in the front row of the theater, she quietly remarked, "Though it’s unlikely you’d fall in love with me at first sight, it’s rather improbable that at our first encounter, you’d dislike me to the point of being dismissive and uninterested, right?"

The man before her, despite his cold demeanor, had impeccable manners and upbringing.

Julian paused for a moment, staring ahead at the stage, and said, "I already have a girlfriend, so there’s no possibility of anything developing between us, nor am I interested in getting to know each other better."
