Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 4: Reckless Beyond Measure
When Scarlett received the message, she couldn’t remain calm.
She even wanted to knife Julian Ford.
Not only didn’t he delete the photos, but he also sent them back to her. What was the meaning of that? A nesting doll from Ruzovia, one set after another, on the bed again?
She held back her anger, finished playing the piano, settled her day’s wages with the manager, and waited at the restaurant entrance for Julian Ford to come out.
The man maintained his usual aloof and noble demeanor, not even giving her a glance.
Scarlett approached him, "President Ford."
Julian Ford lifted his eyelid slightly, "What’s the matter?"
Scarlett: "You haven’t deleted the photos."
Julian Ford had been drinking, his shirt collar was undone, and his demeanor was somewhat lax.
He lazily cast a glance her way, "Didn’t you record my voice? Play it, let’s hear it."
Scarlett: "..."
Is there something wrong with him? Does he have a fetish for listening to himself?
"President Ford, I made up that recording. How would I dare record your voice at such a time? If that voice of yours made it online, the authorities would have me arrested for distributing obscene content."
Saying such words to her own boss was undoubtedly bold.
Scarlett realized the inappropriateness as soon as she spoke.
But it was too late.
Once words are spoken, they’re like water spilled, and trouble comes from the mouth. Isn’t that how it goes?
In an instant, a cold, alcohol-tinged, and dangerous aura from the man approached, causing Scarlett to instinctively step back, but her chin was already captured.
He stared at her, lips slightly moving, but the words were icily cold.
"You lied to me?"
Scarlett shivered involuntarily.
Her body’s instincts told her that the Julian Ford in front of her was very dangerous, more dangerous than that night.
But a girl must know when to retreat and when to stand her ground.
Scarlett immediately lowered herself humbly and said, "It was wrong of me to lie to you, but I had no choice. President Ford, please delete the photos."
In the end, her goal was still to get the photos deleted.
A black Bentley stopped in front of her just as she finished speaking.
Aaron Carson got out of the car to open the door for his boss. When he saw Scarlett, he recognized her as someone from the investment department and assumed it was a coincidence; he nodded gentlemanly in greeting.
Yet Julian Ford uttered coldly:
"Get in the car."
Scarlett didn’t move.
Aaron Carson was also surprised. His boss’s tone wasn’t inviting; those who didn’t know might think he was threatening to put her in jail.
Before Julian Ford got in the car, he casually threw out another sentence:
"Don’t want the photos deleted?"
Scarlett: "..."
The atmosphere inside the car was strange, with three people each lost in their thoughts.
Aaron Carson, driving, was puzzled and shocked, wondering how the usually boundary-conscious boss—who rarely let even Miss Sutton into his private car—was today forcing an irrelevant Scarlett from the investment department into the car.
Scarlett, feeling insignificantly small, was anxious and uneasy.
It wasn’t her fault for overthinking when Aaron Carson suddenly braked, causing her to lose her balance and inadvertently press against Julian Ford.
They say men are quite ineffective after drinking.
But both last time and this time, Julian Ford seemed far from ineffective.
Meanwhile, the gentleman at the storm’s center, after being accidentally pressed, had eyes that were lazily cold, tinted with a dark, unreadable hue, silently watching the "offender" with a bemused expression.
Scarlett felt frozen under his gaze, with her scalp tingling.
She remained tense and immobile.
The car entered the Cloud Mansion, Capitoline’s top luxury residential area.
Scarlett knew this place because Ryan also owned a property within these premises.
She suddenly felt uneasy, thinking surely Julian Ford wouldn’t be so cruel as to bring her to face Ryan in court for such a small lie?
But fortunately, this was truly Scarlett overthinking things.
Aaron Carson, having parked the car, wisely left immediately, while Scarlett also wanted to slip away, yet Julian Ford casually said:
"Follow me."
Isn’t there a saying that tourists across the nation always use?
"Since we’re here."
At this moment, Scarlett could only rely on these four words to hold her head up high and walk on. Since she’s here, she might as well consider it a half-day tour of the boss’s lair.
Still, she cautiously verified first, "You promised the photos would be deleted."
Julian Ford said neither yes nor no, only ordering Scarlett to make a sobering-up soup once they were inside.
Scarlett: "..."
So she was brought here to work overtime as a free nanny?
Scarlett finished making the soup in twenty minutes, called for him, but received no response.
She walked over to find Julian Ford sunk into the sofa, eyes closed, unsure whether he was resting or asleep.
As the saying goes, some people die, but their mouths remain alive.
Scarlett thought if someday Julian Ford were gone, that face would always live on in her heart.
This is because, for some things, both men and women hold similar sentiments; Julian Ford was her first, so to some degree, she’d still feel a twinge of nostalgia.
While lost in thought about this, the man with closed eyes suddenly opened them.
In that moment, their eyes met.
Even though the two of them who had a history weren’t necessarily romantic, such eye contact could carry a different meaning.
Julian Ford’s gaze was calm and icy.
However, the aggressiveness in his eyes was unmistakably present.
Nonetheless, he didn’t touch her, only casually asked, "Really broke up with Ryan?"
At the mention of Ryan, Scarlett felt a rush of bitterness clogging her throat.
Annoyed, she replied, "President Ford, your brother is quite the talent, I was indeed aiming too high."
Julian Ford glanced at her mockingly, "When you got together with him, it wasn’t for anything else?"
Scarlett was still puzzled by Julian Ford’s sudden interest in her and Ryan’s past. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Upon hearing this, she realized this gentleman was settling scores for his younger brother.
She couldn’t help but wonder if Julian Ford had a split personality, how did he go from sharing a bed with her to righteously interrogating her ulterior motives for dating Ryan?
"President Ford, to be honest, I was truly fond of Ryan when we first began dating."
Scarlett touched her nose, admitting candidly.
Even though an ex is like a criminal record, initially, she was sincerely involved with Ryan.
It was just that Ryan wasn’t sincere at all.
Julian Ford, hearing this, had more disdain deep in his gaze, "So, you were truly in love with him?"
