Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 728 - 731: You reap what you sow...
Their relationship had become delicate, a subtlety he disliked. He had no intention of changing anything, much less their current situation.
Let everything return to how it was... This is the best choice for both him and her.
Regaining his composure, William Guillen picked up the menu and ordered.
As Fluffy Zane glanced up, she inadvertently spotted William Guillen not far away. He was dressed in formal wear, exceptionally handsome and distinguished. Chatting happily with his female companion, he looked every bit the elegant Young Master amidst a chaotic world.
"Fluffy, what’s wrong?"
Jim Jones noticed something was off about her. Following her gaze, he saw William Guillen and instinctively frowned. He glanced thoughtfully at Fluffy Zane beside him, a hint of worry in his eyes. "Fluffy, would you rather we go to another restaurant?"
Regaining her composure, Fluffy Zane lowered her eyelids to hide her distress. "No need, it’s fine here."
Despite her words, Jim Jones had already decided they should leave. He got up, took the seat opposite her, and tried his best to cheer her up.
Yet, Fluffy Zane’s smile was always tinged with a subtle sadness, which disheartened him.
After their meal, Jim Jones went to pay the bill while Fluffy Zane headed to the restroom.
Unfortunately, as she was approaching, she bumped right into William Guillen, who was just coming out of the restroom.
Fluffy Zane’s heart pounded. Honestly, she was nervous. Ever since William Guillen had visited her at home that day and she had said what she did, she never imagined they would meet again like this.
Awkward? Yes, very. Nervous? Definitely. More than that, she felt helpless, unsure how to break the awkward silence...
"What a coincidence," Fluffy Zane said, breaking the silence first. She smiled at the man before her.
He was still the same William Guillen, gentlemanly and courteous, yet somehow... different.
"Indeed." William Guillen offered a slight smile and a nod, then bypassed her and walked away.
He just left? Like that?
The moment they brushed past each other, Fluffy Zane’s heart lurched with panic. She spun around abruptly, gazing at his retreating, upright figure. "William Guillen..."
William Guillen paused, turning slightly. His tone was polite yet distant. "Is there something else?"
Fluffy Zane bit her lower lip, remaining silent for a long moment.
"If not, I’ll be going then."
William Guillen nodded and strode off.
Fluffy Zane watched helplessly as he walked further and further away, gradually disappearing from her sight. Her heart felt as if an invisible hand had clenched around it. She felt so stifled she could barely breathe. The sensation of suffocation washed over her like a tidal wave.
He was gone. Just like that, without another word.
Fluffy Zane sagged against the wall, her expression unable to hide her desolation.
She raised a hand and tapped her head. Fluffy Zane, you really brought this on yourself... It’s all your own doing! He’s given you what you wanted, so why does your heart ache so much? Why does it feel like it’s being ripped apart, making your eyes burn?
Jim Jones returned after paying the bill. He waited for a while, but Fluffy Zane still hadn’t come back. He got up to look for her near the restrooms and ran into William Guillen halfway there.
Jim Jones stopped, blocking William Guillen’s path, his expression grave. "If you can’t give her what she wants, then don’t show up in front of her again."
"Today was an accident," William Guillen offered, a rare explanation from him.
His gaze, cool and indifferent, swept past Jim Jones’s face to rest on his own female companion. He beckoned, and she fluttered to his side like a nimble butterfly, taking his arm.
