Phoenix Revenge System-Chapter 123: PRS 24 Liona
Upon returning from the hospital, Januar went back to his parents’ house, as did Anang and Narti, who would be staying there temporarily until the DNA test results came out.
Januar planned to sell the house that his wife often used to satisfy her biological desires with Bana because he felt disgusted and hurt by the bitter memories his wife had given him. Every corner of the house now felt like a stab in his heart with painful memories.
"Sir, ma’am, I have to leave now. The children are waiting for me at home. They must be worried waiting for news from here. Production still has to run tomorrow, so I can’t stay here. I’m sorry, sir, ma’am," said Laus with a tone full of regret for having to leave his family at such a difficult time.
Arto and Atri, who knew how busy their son-in-law was, couldn’t keep him there any longer because they knew how dangerous the terrain would be for Laus to travel through to get home. The journey from the city to the village was not easy, especially at night.
"All right, son. Be careful on the way home. Don’t speed, just take it slow. Don’t worry too much about your wife and child. You don’t need to bring anything here because we will take care of all of Liona’s needs here. She is our child too, so don’t worry," said Atri attentively as she held her son-in-law’s hand.
"When you return, let your father take Lura home and visit his other grandchildren so you can focus on taking care of the business at home. Your father also misses his other grandchildren," Arto added, patting Laus’s shoulder affectionately.
Seeing the attention his in-laws gave him, Laus felt relieved. Lura’s family was quite wealthy, so their needs would certainly be easily met, especially since they lived in the city where everything they wanted to buy was easily available, unlike in the village where they lived.
The city also had electricity, so the environment would not be as dark and dangerous as in the village, where street lighting at night relied solely on the light of the moon in the sky. At least his wife and child would be safe and comfortable here.
Not wanting to be late, Laus immediately kissed his in-laws’ hands respectfully and kissed his wife’s forehead gently and his beautiful baby’s cheeks lovingly before getting on the motorcycle he had bought that morning.
"Be careful, don’t speed," said Lura as she hugged her husband briefly.
"Yes, ma’am, don’t worry. I’ll be careful. You take care of yourself and Liona too," Laus replied, stroking his wife’s cheek.
Brummm....
The sound of the motorcycle grew fainter and fainter until it finally disappeared around the bend in the road, leaving Lura, who was carrying Liona, to walk into the house after the two of them had seen off their beloved husband and father. She felt sad but also relieved, knowing that her husband would take care of their home and their other children.
"Sis, come with me to get some things from the house..." said Januar when he passed Lura in front of the door. His face looked tired, but his eyes sparkled with determination.
"Cool!!! We’re going to hunt for treasure at our uncle’s house. That evil woman hid a lot of valuables and money, and we’re going there to find it. Cool!" Liona chirped happily to herself as she clapped her hands with joy. She was very excited to help her uncle.
Lura, seeing how happy Liona was, didn’t want to ruin her baby’s happiness, so she agreed to her sister’s request without thinking twice.
"Okay, brother, I’ll come with you. Besides, I also want to help you secure the important items," Lura replied quickly, smiling at her brother.
"I’m going inside to say goodbye to mom and dad first so they won’t be confused looking for me and Liona later. Wait a minute, brother," Lura said again as she walked into the house to say goodbye to her parents.
At first, his intention was to bring his sister along to his house to accompany him on the road so he wouldn’t end up daydreaming during the journey, because honestly, his heart and mind were in turmoil at the moment.
Even though she had accepted everything, Lela’s betrayal had shaken her deeply, especially the fact that Anang was not her biological child, which had devastated Januar. It felt like a part of her had been torn apart and could not be healed so easily.
She never expected that her wife had also hidden a lot of money and several valuable items in a place she had never noticed. How long had that woman been deceiving and stealing from him?
Fortunately, Liona had reminded him, so this time, upon returning home—which he was about to sell—he gathered all the valuable items and documents inside the house to store them in a safer and more secure place.
"Come on, let’s go now. Mom and Dad already know where we’re going," said Lura as she fastened her seatbelt, breaking Januar’s trance as he stared blankly at the empty road ahead.
The two of them drove along the relatively quiet road to the Sejahtera housing complex where Januar lived. The atmosphere in the car was quite quiet, only occasionally interrupted by Liona’s funny chatter as she tried to lighten the mood.
"I think you should change all the locks in the house because Bana and his wife have duplicate keys. I’m afraid they will secretly come to the house to rob it because Naomi is currently struggling to collect money for her husband’s surgery so that the case involving him and Lala can be resolved properly."
What Liona said in her heart made Januar’s hands grip the steering wheel tightly. His knuckles turned white because he was gripping it so tightly.
He never expected that Lala would spoil Bana so much that she made duplicate keys for them so they could easily come and go from his house. The house he built with his own sweat and hard work!
Looking back, it seemed that everyone thought he was a clown because for four years he had no idea that he had been made fun of by some people with evil hearts. Shame and anger mixed together in his chest.
On the way, Januar stopped by a hardware store to buy some keys and padlocks. He planned to replace all the door locks in his house so that no more bad people would take advantage of him behind his back.
"What are you going to buy?" asked Lura curiously.
"Keys and padlocks. I have to replace all the keys in the house. Who knows, they might have more evil plans," replied Januar in a stern tone.
He also bought some snacks for his niece so that the baby wouldn’t get bored and fussy when she accompanied him to look for all the valuables that he had to save from the evil hands that were trying to take them.
"This is for Liona, so she won’t be fussy later," said Januar as he handed over several packets of snacks.
"Thank you, sir, you are very kind," replied Lura with a slight smile.
After a twenty-minute drive to buy everything they needed, the two of them entered Januar’s garage.
"You two can sit and watch television so you won’t get bored while you wait for me to get some things I need. It won’t be long," said Januar, who immediately turned on the tube television in the living room with a quick movement.
Liona, who was seeing a black and white television for the first time, was quite amazed because the images that appeared on it were very different from the color televisions of the modern era, as were the programs that were currently being broadcast.
"So this is what television looked like in the old days. How interesting!" Liona muttered excitedly, as if she were studying the history of a nation’s cultural and technological development.
The programs shown on television were very boring and lacked variety, so Liona began sweeping around, relying on her powers from the system to search for treasure in Januar’s house.
"Mom, let’s go treasure hunting," said Liona, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Januar, who had just come down carrying a suitcase, heard Liona’s words and became very excited. At least his niece could cheer him up when he was feeling down.
"How about we look for the treasure together? It will definitely be more exciting!" said Januar with a big smile, for the first time since that morning.
"Come on... come on, uncle... let’s look for treasure... clap clap clap..." said Liona, clapping her hands cheerfully.
After putting down the suitcase he was carrying from the room, Januar carefully picked up Liona from Lura’s arms.
"Where should we go first? You show us, Liona," Januar asked enthusiastically, stroking his niece’s hair.
"there..." Liona said, pointing to the kitchen with her tiny finger.
Januar frowned in surprise, not expecting his wife to hide the item in the kitchen. The kitchen? The place he passed every day?
As soon as she arrived in the kitchen, Liona pointed out the places where Lala kept money so that Bana and his wife could easily take it to meet their daily needs. Every corner she pointed to made Januar even more surprised.
Deftly, Lura lifted the spice storage box, under the rice container, behind the paper lining the inside of the cupboard, and also inside Anang’s milk box.
"This much money scattered in several places, for what? This doesn’t make sense!" Lura muttered, a little confused, as she stared at the pile of money in her hands.
"That evil woman deliberately put the money there so that Naomi and Bana could take it whenever they needed it, as Naomi’s daily shopping money and Bana’s cigarette and motorcycle gasoline money," Liona replied silently.
Januar, who heard Liona’s inner thoughts, could only smile bitterly because he never expected his wife to be so careful in providing funds for outsiders from the fruits of her labor. This was truly painful.
After all the money hidden in the kitchen was successfully secured, they began searching several rooms, including the outdoor bathroom, where they found a thick wad of cash behind a box of toiletries hanging on the wall.
"Ten million! Oh my God, it’s ten million!" Lura shouted in shock, covering her mouth with her hand.
She never expected the large envelope to contain so much money after carefully counting it.
Januar, who saw the logo on the outside of the envelope, immediately took it from his sister’s trembling hands. "This is the envelope of money that went missing two months ago, which caused me so much stress that I had to borrow money from my father to cover the loss. So... so she took it," said Januar sharply, his jaw tightening.
He clutched the envelope tightly. The fire of anger in his heart, which had been extinguished, now burned again like a sea of flames.
He never expected his wife to go this far. Because Lela was so cruel to him, Januar decided he would no longer be gentle from now on.
This was the trust that everyone had placed in him. Fortunately, his family was wealthy, so they could easily replace the foundation’s money. But the shame, how could he erase that shame?
Having made a huge haul, Januar and Lura were even more enthusiastic about searching every corner of the house with Lestari’s help until Januar could retrieve all the money, jewelry, and valuable documents that Lela had hidden. They worked carefully and meticulously.
"Brother, I never thought that Lela was so greedy that she would steal so many of your belongings and money. This... this is outrageous. How could she do all this?" Lura looked sadly at her brother’s face, which was already very unpleasant to look at. Her eyes began to well up with tears as she saw her brother’s suffering.
This time, she would not blame her sister if Januar made an extreme and cruel decision because it was Lela herself who had ignited the fire of anger in her eldest brother’s heart, eroding all the patience he had.
If you add it all up, the money, jewelry, and valuable documents that Lela had stolen and hidden totaled hundreds of millions. It was a fantastic amount of money at that time, a huge sum when even luxury properties were only worth millions.
"Hundreds of millions... this is hundreds of millions..." Lura whispered in disbelief as she looked at all the items they had collected.
