Chapter 112: Strange Woman

As they walked towards the Dining Hall, Ye Jun conversed with the woman, who introduced herself as He Wenxin. She was quite awkward at times and didn’t look at him even once, but she still tried to talk.

She didn’t speak much about herself, so Ye Jun also didn’t ask much. Clearly, her past was painful for her. And he wasn’t curious either, so they talked about random stuff, like the trucks and the bitch.

Apparently, they knew someone in the Law Enforcement Hall, so they bullied the weak disciples and extorted contribution points from them.

He Wenxin was just one of the victims.

"Fear the strong and bully the weak. The classic template," Ye Jun had expected to meet such people.

Finally, they reached the Dining Hall, which was less crowded than usual. Perhaps because most disciples were disciplined and followed a specific routine which involved eating in the morning.

They took their seats and Ye Jun ordered something different this time. Though before that, he asked, "How much do you have?"

"You don’t need to worry about that," He Wenxin said softly. "There’s a reason why I’m their daily target."

He shrugged and didn’t hold back in ordering. He wanted to order some Spirit Food, but he had promised Mountain that his first Spirit Food would be made by him.

As they waited for the meal to arrive, Ye Jun said, "You know, it’ll never stop if you don’t step up for yourself."

"I’ve thought about it," she replied in a low voice. "But it’s inevitable that someone strong will prey on weak people like me. If it isn’t them, then maybe someone else. It’s pointless to fight the inevitable if I can just go around it."

She hid her wounds and said, "They usually just take some contribution points and leave, so it’s not that much trouble."

"Well, you do you. It just wouldn’t sit well with me if someone else was benefiting from my hard work," Ye Jun said, seeing his last resemblance in her.

He was in a situation like that too, where he could do nothing but watch as others enjoyed the fruit of his labor. But he had to endure it all just to survive.

However, he never accepted that situation like her. That was what separated the two.

"As I said, it is inevitable," she sighed. "Why bother wasting time on them when I can focus on something that I truly find interesting?"

Ye Jun put his chin on his palm and said, "I understand. I was just talking about myself."

Just then, the food was served and the two of them ate in silence. Ye Jun stared at her occasionally, wondering if she was telling the truth or not.

But her expression said she didn’t think much of what happened to her. It was as if she was already used to this life, so nothing bothered her anymore.

’She gave up, huh. What a pity,’ Ye Jun thought, stuffing his mouth with some delicious meatballs. ’Not like one can do much in these situations.’

When they finished their meal, He Wenxin once again thanked him and said, "If you don’t mind, I want to treat you daily."

"If you have so much money to waste, why not spend it on your cultivation?" Ye Jun asked in confusion.

"I’m not wealthy or anything. I just get enough," He Wenxin said, keeping her head low. "It’s just that... I liked talking with you. Usually, people would either mock me or feel disdainful towards me. If not that, then it’ll be pity or sympathy."

Her voice showed a slight rise in tone as she said, "I don’t need either, to be honest. I’m not ignorant of my circumstances. I’m just a realist, which people fail to realize."

She finally looked up, only for a second, and said, "I like your indifference. It might sound stupid, but I want to talk with someone who doesn’t care how I live my life. So, if it’s not a big trouble for you, I hope we can talk more."

"You’re truly an odd one," Ye Jun admitted. "So, you don’t want any friendship or companionship. Just someone who can listen to you without any judgment?"

She nodded, "Yes, I have enough judgmental people in my life."

Ye Jun thought for a while and then shrugged, "Sure. If it means I can eat this daily for free, I don’t mind listening to you."

"Thank you," He Wenxin smiled, a truly genuine smile.

Ye Jun stared at her smile and thought, ’Why do I get acquainted with weirdos?’

Shaking his head, he stood up and said, "I’ll get going then."

He Wenxin nodded.

After leaving the Dining Hall, Ye Jun headed back to his abode. His thoughts filled with He Wenxin and the odd life she lived. He couldn’t imagine ever accepting that lifestyle, but who was he to judge anyone?

If she was content with it, then it was her decision.

He encountered a few minor accidents on the way, clearly set up by someone just to annoy him, but he dodged all of them easily and finally reached his abode.

Only when he stood before it did he remember something, "Oh yeah, the abodes are based on our rankings. I can shift to Lin Xuan’s abode."

His abode would clearly have a much better atmosphere to cultivate. But he didn’t have any intention of going back to the Administration Hall again. So he decided to postpone it to the next day.

Entering the abode through the smooth wall and surface, he went straight to his cultivation chamber and took a seat on the mattress. He sat in a lotus position, eyes closed to calm his mind and remove unnecessary thoughts.

After a while, he opened them again and said, "Time for Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra again."

He took out the scroll and read it once again.

Afterwards, he closed his eyes again and reached for the Qi vortex revolving in his dantian, faster than ever. He took a strand of Qi out from one of the vortices and started cultivating the Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra.
