Primordial Awakening: I Can Evolve My Skills Infinitely-Chapter 69: The Forsaken Lords Nightmares
Chapter 69: The Forsaken Lords Nightmares
Two weeks had passed since the [Third Expedition] came to an end.
It was broadcasted on nearly every major channel across the North Region.
News anchors praised humanity’s progress, talked about the courage of the awakeners, and especially focused on the many guilds that had taken part.
Sam, of course, watched those broadcasts.
He didn’t care much about the attention, but it was still strange.
Because surprisingly, neither the [Viper Guild], [Arcane Society], nor the [Union Guild] tried to take credit for what happened.
Every time a representative who had fought alongside Sam was asked about the [Third Expedition], their expressions would go blank. Not a single one of them boasted or claimed credit.
They all gave the same response:
"We do not wish to talk about it."
The only guild that did try to milk the situation was [Inferno].
They praised themselves loudly for "carrying" the mission, while a few smaller guilds used the opportunity to promote themselves.
Sam didn’t mind. He let them.
He knew the truth, and more importantly, he knew that no one in their right mind would ever believe that a single awakener, from a one-member guild, was the one who cleared the Third Layer.
Even if he told them, they’d just laugh.
But what mattered was that the success of the [Third Expedition] sparked something.
More awakeners were now pushing into the Third Layer. Inspired. Motivated. Confident that it could be done. The clear rate began to rise.
In the end, the expedition had been a win for everyone involved.
And as for Sam...

[Primordial Guild]
[Position: Leader]
[Members: 1]
[Status: Registered]
[Guild Ranking: 25]

He had reached level 8 in the Adept Rank.
Just two more level-ups before his [Advancement Task] would trigger.
He already had a guess about what that task would be.
Judging by the pattern so far... and everything that had happened... it would almost certainly be linked to the third sub-layer—and the [Forsaken Lord] that ruled over it.
The [Roaring Titan].
Which meant that no matter how much Sam tried to delay it, no matter how much time he bought himself, he would eventually have to face that thing head-on.
[8 Days until the opening of the Battle Realm.]
He didn’t have much time left.
A little over a week. That was it.
Not enough time to train properly. Not enough time to prepare the way he wanted.
Some might ask why he’d even bother training.
He was already powerful—he had proven that more than once. He had soloed monsters most would consider impossible to beat. Even Forsaken-type enemies didn’t scare him.
But this was different.
This time, the feeling in his chest wasn’t fear, or hesitation, or stress. It was deeper. Like something gnawed at his instincts.
And no matter how confident he was, he couldn’t ignore that feeling.
Every morning, he would walk to the teleportation gate.
He’d open the portal that led back to the [Third Layer], ready to jump in and face the sub-layer.
But then he would stop.
His body wouldn’t move forward.
His mind drifted back to that massive hand—the one that had reached up from the depths and grabbed him.
More than that... he kept remembering that strange, star-like aura at the bottom of the hole. Like an eye. Like something ancient that had been watching him since the beginning.
A Primordial couldn’t feel fear. That much he knew.
So what was this? It wasn’t fear. Not exactly. It was instinct, raw, primal instinct telling him no.
Telling him he wasn’t ready.
And each night, when he finally closed his eyes, that same presence would return in his dreams.
He’d see it, the massive hand grabbing him, pulling him down, the darkness around him swirling.
And just before he woke up, he’d hear the voice again.
"I’m still waiting for your arrival, coward."
Every time, without fail.
"God damn it," Sam groaned one morning, rubbing his eyes after another restless night. "Am I really having nightmares about that thing?"
But the more dreams he had, the more he began to notice something strange.
In the background of those dreams, deep in the shadows, three faint figures stood watching him.
At first, he thought it was just a part of the nightmare.
But no... they were real.
He could sense them. Not see their faces, not even their eyes. Just outlines. But their presence was undeniable.
’The other [Forsaken Lords]?’ he wondered grimly. ’So they’re watching too, huh...’
He continued with his days.
He ate, he visited the [Awakener Association], checked the guild boards, stayed up to date on the [Battle Realm] preparations.
Until eventually...
"Alright."
The day he looked at the calendar and realized there were only eight days left, he decided it was time.
The [Roaring Titan] had haunted his thoughts for long enough.
Sam would face him.
He didn’t care how bad the feeling in his chest was. He didn’t care what the nightmares showed.
If he died... then so be it.
He wasn’t going to run anymore.
With that resolve, Sam walked toward the gate with crimson energy slowly leaking from his eyes, his aura boiling over with intensity.
But just as he reached the terminal—
Bing!
His phone buzzed.
---
[Alicia Union:] Hey, Sam. Got a day off from grinding today. Wanna go somewhere to relax?
[Lily Gremoir:] I hit level 8 Adept Rank this morning. Spent the last two weeks killing nonstop... I could use a break too.
---
Sam stared at the screen for a moment.
He didn’t answer right away.
Not because he didn’t want to... but because it surprised him.
Lily and Alicia had been working hard. But even at their pace, most awakeners took weeks, sometimes months, to gain a single rank.
He was only leveling up as fast as he was because the monsters he fought were all way above his level.
If anyone else had fought the [Roaring Dragon], a level 40 mutated boss not even supposed to be in the Third Layer, and won?
They’d probably jump straight to level 10 of Adept instantly.
---
[Chloe Vinelord:] My parents are proud of me for guiding my team through the Third Layer... even though I didn’t really do anything. I think I deserve a break too!
---
Sam had added Chloe to their group chat not long ago, mostly for coordination.
But now it seemed she had become friends with both Lily and Alicia.
It was rare. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Most guilds didn’t interact that much because of the [Guild Rankings]. There was always rivalry. Competition. Pressure to recruit the best awakeners.
But those three didn’t seem to care about any of that.
They grew at their own pace. Took things seriously, but still made time for their lives.
That’s what made them different. That’s what made them heroines.
And so...
---
[Sam Walker:] Sure. I’m planning to start my "Advancement Task" tomorrow anyway, so perfect timing.
---
Just like that, Sam pushed his plan to face the [Roaring Titan] back by one day.
Only one.
After that... he wouldn’t run again.
It was only 10 a.m. when they started setting up plans for their meetup.
[You wonder if wasting your time on such things is truly useful.]
’I do,’ Sam admitted silently. ’But knowing what I’m about to face... cut me some slack, me.’
[Hm.]
He picked out the best clothes he had and got ready.
Today, he would try to enjoy himself. To relax, even if just for a few hours.
This would be the last day he gave himself before diving into the darkest battle yet.
The fight in the third sub-layer.
Against the [Roaring Titan]. A Forsaken Lord who had haunted his dreams for two straight weeks.
An enemy so powerful that even Sam’s instincts were telling him to stay away.
But tomorrow... no more running.
Tomorrow, Sam would fight. And win. No matter what.
