Chapter 70: Small Break, Ready to Defeat the Titan

Once he stepped out of his hotel room, Sam met up with the three girls, and together they set out to enjoy their day.

Nothing major happened, just a relaxing series of stops. A casual restaurant. Some light shopping. A few hours spent walking around and chatting about nothing important.

Simple things. Human things.

Yet even though Sam had promised himself he’d take this day to unwind... the image of the [Roaring Titan] never left his mind.

It lingered, heavy and immovable, no matter what distraction tried to take its place.

’Am I developing PTSD over this guy or something?’ Sam sighed inwardly. ’No... it’s not that. I just REALLY want to kill him.’

There was a fire burning inside him that refused to be extinguished.

It was stronger than anger. A certainty that he had to destroy that thing no matter what.

Still, that didn’t mean he didn’t enjoy the day.

He wasn’t lying when he said it was nice to be around them, Alicia, Chloe, and Lily.

And after today, he could tell their relationship had grown stronger. The casual way they spoke, the way they laughed and poked fun at each other, it was proof.

At one point, they talked about their plans moving forward. Unsurprisingly, all three of them wanted to enter the [Battle Realm].

Even though no one knew what was inside, and despite the fact it had only opened every twenty years, they couldn’t ignore the opportunity.

They were awakeners. Curiosity and danger were just part of the job.

By the time 8 p.m. rolled around, the sky had dimmed and the day felt like it had run its course.

"That’s probably enough for one day," Chloe stretched, her voice light and relaxed. Then her signature grin returned. "So, Sam~ how did it feel going on a date with three girls?"

"..." Sam didn’t answer. He just gave a small smile.

"D-Date?!" Lily’s face flushed a deep red. "A-Are you insane?!"

"Heh. I think she’s right, though," Alicia chuckled, clearly amused. "Lucky him, I guess. Still, it was fun," she admitted genuinely. "Let’s do it again sometime."

Even though they were joking and enjoying themselves, Sam’s eyes stayed locked on something the others couldn’t see.

A crimson panel hovering silently in front of him.

[Hell-Mode Analysis: Kill the Roaring Titan.]

That was it. His task. His mission.

And if today had shown him anything, it was that he had a reason to keep going.

These three heroines, Alicia, Chloe, Lily, were part of this world. They were trying to protect it. And if Sam wanted to protect them and it, to save everything, then he had to get stronger.

Much stronger.

He had to kill the [Forsaken Lords]. All of them.

Only by doing that could he conquer every layer in the [Forsaken Realm], and beyond.

And when the time came, when the [Universal Stage] truly began...

He would be ready.

After saying goodbye to the girls, Sam returned to his hotel room.

He took one last look at the messages on his phone, then turned everything off and went to bed.

Tomorrow would be the day.

...

That night, the dreams returned.

The same ones as always, darkness, the massive hand, the burning star-like light in the Titan’s head.

But this time... it was different.

This time, Sam dodged the hand.

He twisted his body, slipped past the grasp, and landed cleanly in the void.

He raised his hand and pointed it forward, aiming directly at the titan’s core.

"Don’t worry," he said with a grin, calm and confident. "I’m coming soon."

The light inside the Titan’s head flared in response, pulsing brighter with rage.

It lifted its hand again, this time smashing it down with enough force to shatter mountains.

And right before impact—Sam woke up.

It was 7:30 a.m.

But Sam wasn’t interested in wasting a second more.

’Guess I’m turning into one of those early-rising guild leaders,’ he muttered to himself, climbing out of bed.

He ate a light breakfast, took a quick shower, and changed into casual clothes since he didn’t have any armor.

He left the hotel and took the train headed straight to the first [Outer Ring].

Once there, he didn’t stop.

He used his speed, now increased thanks to his [Void Affinity], and sprinted across the familiar plains, racing toward the second [Outer Ring].

What used to take an hour now took under forty minutes.

And when he arrived, he went straight to focusing on the [Forsaken Realm].

---

[Which layer do you wish to enter?]

[→ Third]

---

"Third."

Fwish! Boom!

A ripple of light spread as a blue portal opened in front of him, floating, twisting, humming with power.

Sam stared at it for a long moment.

[You feel an impending sense of DOOM coming from this portal.]

The same message.

The same overwhelming pressure he had felt every time he tried to enter over the past two weeks.

But today... he didn’t care. He had made his decision.

The time he spent with the three heroines yesterday didn’t make him weaker.

It made him sure. It reminded him of what he was fighting for.

Sam stepped forward. And this time... he didn’t hesitate.

[There is no going back.]

Ding!

[You have entered the "Third Layer" of the "Forsaken" Realm: The Roaring Cliffs (Corrupted).]

[Good luck, Primordial.]

Just like the first time, Sam landed between two enormous cliff walls.

Towering stone stretched toward the sky, and the wind howled like a creature in pain.

But this time, there was no one else.

No other awakeners. No guild members. No allies. Only him.

The entire instance had been created for him, of that he was sure.

A challenge meant only for the Primordial.

Sam summoned his [Primordial Sword] from his [Spatial Inventory] and dashed forward, his movements sharp and fluid.

He wasn’t here to explore. He wasn’t here to admire the view. He was here to kill.

And not just the [Roaring Titan]. He wanted to destroy every [Forsaken Lord]. Every twisted monster that stood in his way.

Because deep down...

[Hell-Mode Analysis: Is the "Forsaken" Realm truly the end... or just the beginning?]

He didn’t know what came next. He never spoiled himself on the game’s story.

But he had a hunch that [Hell-Mode] had its own path. Its own ending.

Maybe the [Forsaken Realm] was just the prologue. Maybe it was the start of something worse.

Either way, he didn’t care. He would kill them all.

And as he slashed through the enemies that tried to block his path, leaving trails of crimson energy and shadows behind him—

Ding!

[Congratulations to Sam Walker for reaching Level 9 of the Adept Rank!]

Ding!

[Congratulations to Sam Walker for reaching Level 10 of the Adept Rank!]

Level 10. The peak of Adept Rank.

The monsters here were all level 40, elite threats meant for groups, allowing him to gain a lot of experience. But Sam was no ordinary awakener.

Ding!

[Chosen Difficulty: Hell]

[Giving appropriate advancement task...]

Sam kept moving forward, not even pausing as the system processed his new milestone.

Ding!

[You are strong, Primordial.]

[You will be given the hardest advancement task possible. Do not disappoint us.]

Then—

Ding!

[SSS-Rank Advancement Task: Destroy the "Roaring Titan".]

"As expected," Sam whispered, his voice laced with anticipation.

His smile widened, turning dark.

Crimson aura leaked from his eyes like smoke. This was it.

[The choice of your reward will be allowed after the advancement task.]

This referred to his affinity upgrade.

At the next stage, he would be allowed to choose a path, likely between [Shadow] and [Void].

[Chaos] would probably not be available as he had to select it at level 5 to gain the "powerful" skill.

For now... that didn’t matter. He was here for one reason.

And as he pushed forward for thirty more minutes, a strange realization struck him.

The [Roaring Bell], the mechanic of this layer, he hadn’t heard it even once.

Even though it was supposed to trigger occasionally in the Third Layer, it remained silent.

It felt wrong. Too quiet.

’Is the Titan really here?’ he thought, slowing his pace slightly.

And eventually... He reached it.

The end of the Third Layer. The final plateau.

But when he looked up, when he saw what stood before him, his expression shifted.

His brows narrowed.

Because the hole, the one that led to the third sub-layer, the place where the [Roaring Titan] had first reached up and grabbed him, it was gone.

There was no entrance. Just a single massive creature waiting silently at the center of the battlefield. The [Roaring Golem].

’So you’re standing in my way,’ Sam thought, eyes narrowing.

He gripped his sword, crimson light flashing in his gaze.

’I guess I need to kill you first.’
