Prodigal System in the Flourishing City-Chapter 1331 - 1332: Tried to Steal a Chicken, Only to Lose the Rice
The three people led Lu Xiaobu and his group to a bar that wasn’t particularly large.
At this time, the bar was evidently closed, but the three of them pushed the door open and went in.
The bar’s environment looked quite cozy, appearing to be a tranquil bar.
"Hey, you’re here. My Chinese isn’t very good, I can only communicate barely, hope you don’t mind." The bartender spoke in what sounded like very authentic Mandarin.
"If yours isn’t authentic, then not many people can claim theirs is." Lu Xiaobu chuckled and sat at the bar counter.
At the same time, he also examined the bartender in front of him.
The bartender was dressed in a neat three-piece suit, his beard was clean-shaven, and his hair meticulously groomed, indicating he was a very meticulous person.
However, the slightly playful smile at the corner of his mouth instantly destroyed this seriousness, transforming it into a devilish charm.
"What would you like to drink?" The bartender asked politely, stepping aside to let Lu Xiaobu see the well-stocked liquor cabinet behind him.
"How about a Bloody Mary?" Lu Xiaobu grinned.
"Good taste." The bartender smiled.
As the saying goes, you can discern a man’s character from his drink choice, but the choice of a Bloody Mary left him a bit unsure.
The name Bloody Mary sounds scary, right? If one chooses this drink based on its name alone, their personality would be clear.
However, although the name Bloody Mary is frightening, it is actually a drink that doesn’t easily intoxicate and can even increase appetite, somewhat of a health tonic.
But that was secondary; since a customer ordered it, he would make it earnestly.
Soon, a cocktail that looked like it was composed of thick blood was placed in front of Lu Xiaobu.
Lu Xiaobu took a sip, experiencing sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy flavors all at once, along with a hint of tomato juice fragrance. The vodka in it made it glide smoothly over his palate, with a slight spiciness trembling between his tongue and teeth, lingering and full of lingering charm.
"Nice drink." Lu Xiaobu nodded and put down the glass.
"Let’s get to business then." The bartender sliced an ice ball and poured himself a vodka on the rocks, swirling the glass as he sat next to Lu Xiaobu:
"Could you tell me, what brings a distinguished Honorary Master from the Heavenly Dynasty to America, and openly discussing the world of superpowers? Is there a purpose?"
"If I said I was just following a whim, would you believe me?" Lu Xiaobu smirked.
"I believe it." The bartender also smiled, looking at Lu Xiaobu gently.
Then, he took a sip from his glass and set it down gently.
When the glass was set down, the bartender’s expression changed, becoming dark and intimidating: "Do you realize how much trouble your irresponsible actions could cause us, Master Lu?"
"What does that have to do with me?" Lu Xiaobu said indifferently.
"Do you think you can leave America unscathed?" The bartender said coldly, full of threat.
"What does that have to do with you?" Lu Xiaobu laughed, a sarcastic laugh.
"You!"
The redhead and bald-headed man were infuriated at Lu Xiaobu’s arrogant words: "You’re courting death!"
"Tch."
Zhang Meng stepped forward, looking at the two of them with cold disdain.
With Zhang Meng standing there like an impenetrable wall, their anger was instantly suppressed.
The bartender pretended not to notice the confrontations, still looking at Lu Xiaobu: "Do you think that your status and position prevent me from daring to kill you?"
"No." Lu Xiaobu smiled and shook his head, then looked the bartender in the eye: "I simply believe you can’t kill me. In other words, I look down on you!"
"Bang!"
The glass in the bartender’s hand shattered instantly.
He stood up, towering over Lu Xiaobu: "Seems like Master Lu wants a showdown with me? I remember you’re just an Honorary Master!"
"I don’t like talking with my head tilted up, how about sitting down?" Lu Xiaobu swirled the Bloody Mary, speaking calmly.
The bartender was furious, truly furious.
If Lu Xiaobu had spoken to him properly, he wouldn’t have been this angry.
But listen to that, Lu Xiaobu left and right with ’what does it have to do with me’ and ’what does it have to do with you,’ and finally says he can’t kill him?!
If Lu Xiaobu walked out today unscathed, people would say that he, Sea Eagle, was no match for a Heavenly Dynasty Master!
That’s a loss of face he could not afford!
However, he couldn’t make a direct move, or it would be easy to be criticized, accused of luring Lu Xiaobu here to ambush him, potentially sparking East-West tensions.
"Since Master Lu is so confident, why not have a go then!" The bartender said coldly: "I’d like to see where Master Lu’s confidence comes from!"
"Without a benefit, I’m not interested in making a move." Lu Xiaobu yawned, speaking disinterestedly.
"What wager do you want?" The bartender squinted his eyes and asked.
"Tell me how you superpower users cultivate?" Lu Xiaobu said calmly: "Don’t tell me it’s innate. If it were innate, then those pieces of trash wouldn’t be in your organization."
As Lu Xiaobu spoke, he glanced at the redhead and the bald man, clearly referring to them.
"You!" The redhead was about to explode, starting to spark uncontrollably.
Evidently, being referred to as garbage was a huge insult to someone who always saw himself as superior due to his abilities.
"If you win, I’ll tell you!" The bartender replied.
"No, you tell me first, and then I’ll agree to make a move." Lu Xiaobu stated calmly: "I’m talking benefits, not wagers, don’t misunderstand. We’ll talk about the wager afterward."
"Don’t push your luck!" The bartender’s face was increasingly grim: "I can make a move right now."
"Then come on." Lu Xiaobu yawned: "A clear person doesn’t cover up; you don’t dare. I have status in Jianghu, and in reality too. If you kill me, it’ll be a big hassle; if you can’t kill me, it’ll be an even bigger hassle."
The bartender clenched his teeth, his face alternating between red and white.
Despite his anger, he knew Lu Xiaobu was right.
Lu Xiaobu had too many identities; if he casually made a move and injured or killed Lu Xiaobu, how would he explain it to the outside world?
Telling people he merely killed a Heavenly Dynasty martial artist who provoked him?!
How could ordinary people believe that?!
But if he didn’t make a move, letting Lu Xiaobu come in unscathed, provoke him, and leave unscathed, the superpower world would tear him apart!
Damn it! He originally wanted to invite Lu Xiaobu here as a warning to behave in America, but it backfired and put him in a dilemma!
This Lu Xiaobu, truly troublesome!
Lu Xiaobu sneered — losing a chicken only to spill rice, idiot!
