Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 652: Arrogant Opponent (4)_1
"What if it really is him?" Hansen Ruiz watched him intently.
If the man who had taken Adele Horne’s innocence years ago was indeed Noah Reyes, then given Reyes’s status and his current relentless pursuit of the Valence Group, he was an enemy. A very powerful enemy. Could Glades Horne truly obtain justice for his sister? Wouldn’t he be pushing Adele Horne and her son into an even deeper abyss? If Reyes knew about the existence of Billy Horne, would he take some unexpected actions? Would he be willing to acknowledge Billy? There were so many questions they needed to consider.
After all, the other party was Noah Reyes, a man so mysterious they had yet to see what he looked like.
"If it’s really him, I absolutely won’t let him off easily, even if he is the leader of the Emperor gang—I’m not afraid!" Glades Horne gritted his teeth and squeezed the words out.
Hansen Ruiz didn’t ask any further. He just looked at him steadily for a few minutes, then picked up a pen and wrote down an address on a piece of paper. After writing it, he handed the address to Glades Horne, saying, "This is the latest information I’ve received. Noah Reyes is staying in a newly built manor on the outskirts, a manor with no name. It’s odd, such a huge manor, and yet nameless."
Glades Horne took the address, his sharp eyes scanning it once before committing it to memory.
Noah Reyes had indeed come prepared; even his residence had been established.
"Come with me!"
Glades Horne turned and walked out of the office. His cold command was left for Hansen Ruiz.
"It’s almost time to pick up my Camila," Hansen Ruiz said, yet he still rose to his feet and followed Glades Horne out.
"If you don’t go, Julia will take Camila to my house. I think Ivan and Billy would be very happy with that outcome," Glades Horne said as he exited the Chief Assistant’s office and entered their private elevator with Hansen Ruiz, his voice still low and icy.
Thinking about seeing the man he suspected of taking his sister’s innocence and leaving her with Billy, which had caused her so much suffering and indignity, Glades Horne couldn’t soften the lines of his face, let alone appear gentle. If it were indeed Noah Reyes, he thought, he might just grab him and beat him senseless.
"Ivan will be happy, I’m sure of that. That kid Billy only bullies my Camila," Hansen Ruiz chuckled.
Glades Horne remained tight-lipped.
That was indeed the case. Yet, the one who, if he didn’t see Camila Ruiz for a single day, would ask why she hadn’t come to the Horne Family, wasn’t his own precious son—it was Billy Horne. Two archenemies—perhaps there would be endless drama between them in the future.
How could people as astute as Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz not see through this?
The two of them took the elevator straight down to the ground floor and then walked out of the Office Building side by side.
The simultaneous appearance of the CEO and the Chief Assistant indeed made the receptionists on the first floor freeze—a rare sight! One warm, one cold; one in black, the other in white; both so tall and handsome, they looked like princes from a fairy tale.
After leaving the Office Building, Glades Horne got into the back seat of his Rolls-Royce while Hansen Ruiz got into his Range Rover.
The two cars left the Valence Group, one after the other.
Glades Horne took out his cell phone and called Julia, who was at her company at the moment.
"Glades." Julia answered the call while discussing the development of new toys with her technical staff in the development department. Having returned to her normal work routine, she, much like Glades, favored black women’s suits, giving her an impressively serious and competent vibe.
"Julia, I have some matters to attend to. I might return home late tonight," Glades Horne said, informing her that he would be home late.
What a considerate husband!
"Okay, I understand. Ivan and I will wait for you at home," Julia replied casually, forgetting that she had dinner plans with a client that evening and had already entrusted the task of picking up their son from school to the bodyguards.
"Don’t overwork yourself," Glades Horne advised warmly, his facial lines finally softening as he spoke to his beloved wife.
"You too. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up now."
Glades Horne hummed a low acknowledgment and waited for Julia to hang up. Only after she had disconnected the call did he move the phone from his ear.
「In the suburbs, Nameless Manor.」
"Deon Myers, how could you handle things so incompetently?" Noah Reyes’s roar echoed through the central hall of the manor.
"How do any of these women resemble her? It’s been more than ten days; you bring back a dozen women every day, yet not one of them is her! When did your competence decline so much? I asked you to find one person, and you can’t even do that!"
Noah Reyes’s handsome face was as dark as ink. Frustration and anger were etched upon it, his eyes sinister, burning with a fierce fury that scorched the trembling Deon Myers standing before him.
Behind Deon Myers stood more than a dozen women in several rows in the hall.
Each woman wore an expression of terror. After hearing Noah Reyes’s angry shouts, they trembled even more violently. Even though the tall man before them was incredibly handsome, he was too frightening; they didn’t even dare to look at him again.
They had all been captured by this foreign man, who was currently being berated by the handsome man, and they were unsure if his motives were money or lust.
"Master, the portraits you provided... um, they do bear some resemblance," Deon Myers answered fearfully, breaking into a cold sweat despite the frigid weather. It really wasn’t his fault.
The Master’s own inaccurate portrait was to blame for his failure to find the right woman.
More than ten days ago, he had traveled to T City with the Master. As soon as they landed, he began searching for that man from years ago, only to find his grave. He learned that the only man, other than the Master, who had seen the woman’s true face had died of illness. Upon this discovery, Deon Myers, despite being seasoned and competent from weathering many storms, suddenly felt a chill run from head to toe.
After apprehensively reporting the situation to the Master, the Master then drew a portrait of the woman for him. With the Master’s portrait in hand, he thought he would find the woman and bring her to the Master in the shortest possible time. Who would have known that every day, when he brought a dozen or so women who resembled the portrait to the Master, they would not only all be rejected, but he would also be harshly berated.
It was clearly the Master’s deficient artistic skill, his inability to accurately capture the lady’s likeness, that prevented him from finding the right person. Yet, the Master now dared to question his abilities! Heaven could bear witness; he had truly become the scapegoat. If he weren’t capable, could he have securely held his position as the Assistant to the leader of the Emperor gang?
"You..." Noah Reyes shot a sinister, sharp glance at Deon Myers, who quickly lowered his head.
Agitated, Noah Reyes turned around. He knew his own inability to capture her image accurately was what led to Deon Myers’s unsuccessful efforts.
With a wave of his hand, he said irritably, "Let them all go."
"Yes."
Upon hearing this, Deon Myers hurriedly complied, as if granted amnesty.
Once the hall returned to silence, with only the bodyguards in black suits standing dutifully nearby, Noah Reyes turned around again.
He sighed deeply. Where in the world was she? What was her surname, her given name? He had been searching for more than ten days without a single clue. He still had matters at Black Emperor Group to attend to. Spending so much precious time every day identifying these women, none of whom was the one he was looking for—how could he not be angry?
It was only upon arriving in T City that he realized the Valence Group was more difficult to deal with than he had imagined. His people had followed his original plan for three years but still hadn’t been able to rival the Valence Group. This made him realize he had underestimated his opponents, Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz.
"Master, two cars are approaching our manor. One is a silver-white Rolls-Royce, the vehicle of Glades Horne, CEO of the Valence Group. The other is a Range Rover, the vehicle of Hansen Ruiz, Chief Assistant of the Valence Group," a man who appeared to be a servant but was actually one of the men sent by the elders of the Emperor gang to protect and care for Noah Reyes, walked in from outside, approached Noah Reyes, and reported respectfully.
With an unchanged expression, Noah Reyes arrogantly walked back to the sofa, sat down, and asked coldly, "Are you sure?"
"Certain."
"Stop them five hundred meters away and ascertain their purpose!" Noah Reyes ordered haughtily, adopting an Emperor-like demeanor before his rivals.
